  1. Doubleheader tomorrow, says rotoworld.
  2. I read the quote three times before I realized that's what the title came from. I don't think Wainwright meant what you think he meant.
  3. Cardinals RF Skip Schumaker 3B Aaron Miles 1B Albert Pujols CF Rick Ankiel LF Chris Duncan 2B Adam Kennedy C Yadier Molina RHP Joel Piniero SS Brendan Ryan Brewers 2B Rickie Weeks CF Mike Cameron LF Ryan Braun 1B Prince Fielder RF Corey Hart 3B Bill Hall SS J.J. Hardy RHP Ben Sheets C Jason Kendall
  4. I don't mind sitting Fielder in this situation but I will NEVER be a fan of sitting Corey Hart.
  5. The guy has allowed 4 runs in 15 innings, 3 of which in one appearance against Florida in that extra-inning loss (yeah, that one). I have to say I've been braced for failure every time he's entered a game, but he's really surprised me. I mean, he has allowed 13 hits and 10 walks in those 15 innings, but still just the 4 runs. That Mota for Estrada trade is looking awfully good right now. Looking through this roster he (maybe Mitch Stetter) is probably my biggest surprise performer for the Brewers so far. I certainly did not think he'd be locked in as the team's main set up man.
  6. 2/3 from Chicago TWICE. Great job Brewers!
  7. I don't know if this has been posted before, but this game was incredibly similar to my favorite Brewers win last year. Brewers fell behind early but chipped away at Cole Hamels to make it 5-4 in the 8th (who started for the Brewers? Dave Bush), and it was it was 4-3 last night. One man on for Fielder in the bottom of the eighth in both games. Fielder blasts, closer closes. Deja vu?
  8. Wasn't this supposed to be about Braun getting more steal opportunities? Has he even attempted to steal yet this year? Obviously if Braun isn't stealing bases like they expected and the players are vocally saying they're more comfortable going back it's a pretty easy decision to make.
  9. Zambrano blanked the Brewers, Cueto pretty much blanked the Brewers, Harang certainly blanked the Brewers. So no, facing an ace every game would likely result in a 40 win season.
  10. Miller Park junkies (I don't call them Brewers fans because they know nothing about baseball) will boo him because they boo everybody who's ever worn a Brewers uniform. They're clueless.
  11. This is the guy Corey takes deep.
  12. I'm hoping for at least 7 good innings from Benny today. With Zito on the mound I don't see the Brewers finishing south of 5 runs.
  13. All ESPN cares about is Eric Gagne because he wore a Boston uniform for half of a season. I'd be willing to bet a good chunk of money that in their little description they mention Gagne's troubles. edit: Yup. "Eric Gagne's meltdown in the season opener comes as no surprise to members of Red Sox Nation." No surprise here. Getting four outs after allowing a crippling HR is a meltdown.Vintage ESPN.
  14. good inning, maybe they'll squeeze another one out of Villy.
  15. I don't think Braun saw one strike in that entire AB. Good first inning, but the Brewers have to relax and start taking some pitches.
  16. You'd have to believe that between Villanueva, Parra, and Sheets the Brewers can come up with a couple wins this weekend. Looking forward to watching home games again!
  17. Or just Braun...Hall got a hideous hop. It was a really weird game for Bush. He didn't get knocked around like he usually does on his bad days. He was giving it away. Even the HR by Ramirez was a pitch way down and in. I mean, it goes both ways - the wind probably held in 1 or 2 HRs for Chicago, but either way Bush was wild and Ned probably could've shortened the leash a bit.
  18. Wow, that ump wanted to lock up the win for the Cubbies there...sheesh.
  19. What is that sinking thing Turnbow keeps throwing? Is that a two-seamer or is that just what his fastball does sometimes on its own? Excellent job done by McClung and Turnbow today.
  20. We all still have the off-season syndrome, having the NFL/NBA/NCAA mindset that each game means a whole lot more than a single game in baseball. Everyone's bummed about losing games early in the season, that's just the way it is.
