  1. Not really Marcum is still a strong #3 which many teams would want to get for next season the Yankees and Red Sox being the ones who would really want Marcum. Who would you rather have as your #3 Marcum or Burnett? How about Marcum or Beckett/Lackey? I bet the Yankees would take Marcum over Burnett every day of the week. I don't see the Yankees being idle this off season the same can be said about the Red Sox as they will be looking for pitching. The White Sox will be looking for pitching along with the Mets and even the Rangers will be looking for pitching. The Twins will also be looking for pitching and Marcum would be someone they would like to get but I don't think they have any pieces that would fit for the Brewers. The Orioles could be another team looking for a starter. That is a lot of teams looking for pitching this off season. With Marcum not costing all that much next season I am going to assume he will get around $10m in arbitration that makes a lot of teams available to him. Marcum's value will not be that low. I would definitely go with a Escobar for Marcum trade with the White Sox or a Xander Bogarts and another prospect for Marcum from the Red Sox. Maybe the Yankees get desperate and offer Banuelos for Marcum which would bring the best value to the Brewers.
  2. As Marcum has shown in his last two starts and basically in all of his starts this year he is a 100% command pitcher. He is not going to age well at all. When Marcum can't command any of his pitches he can not get guys out at all and it becomes home run derby time. Basically Marcum's fastball is how hard they throw during home run derby's. The Brewers definitely need to sell high this off season on Marcum and get the best available player for him.
  3. Poor pitching by our starting pitcher who only went 4 innings tonight another bad outing in the playoffs. The last two games Marcum has pitched are the reasons why I don't want the Brewers to even think about extending Marcum. Trade him this off season and don't even think about extending Marcum at all Melvin as this is Suppan 2.0 with his very bad fastball. He has no fastball and hast to rely on location way to much for him to be successful definitely someone the Brewers need to sell high on this off season. Marcum needs to pitch better the next time he comes up in the rotation otherwise I would just place Narveson in his spot instead and see how that goes.
  4. One year doesn't tell you much if anything at all. I would claim Hanley Ramirez 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times over if he ever were put on waivers. Hanley Ramirez is an elite talent equal to or better than Braun or Fielder.
  5. Actually you should be blaming this guy instead as he is the one he has control over the roof being open or closed.http://www.halloffamememorabilia.com/images/products/p-455913-autographed-hand-signed-joe-torre-milwaukee-braves-mla-10602-2.gif
  6. There is no way that Ramirez and Reyes are over rated at all. Ramirez is liked because of the power and speed he brings at the short stop position not because of some fantasy baseball stats. Hanley Ramirez is a 25+ HR threat at SS who should be hitting in the .300's average wise. Just look at his OPS from the past couple of years. From 2005-2011 Hanley Ramirez has put up a .886 OPS. and a .385 wOBA. That right there is another top 10 hitter in the league. I do not see how Hanley Ramirez is over rated he maybe under performing given his talent but he is not over rated at all by any means. Hanley is very comparable with Braun do you believe Braun is over rated how about Prince? Both Prince and Braun have had similar seasons to what Hanley Ramirez has had. The difference between these three hitters are very minimal. Now for Jose Reyes from the same time line from 2005-2011 he has put up a wOBA of .349 and an OPS of .790. Not an elite hitter but he is better than your average player he is definitely an elite hitter at the SS position. Jose Reyes is the 2nd best hitting SS in the league and he is only behind Hanley Ramirez for that spot. I can not fathom how you can claim that either of these two are over rated especially Hanley Ramirez as he has had seasons that are very close to what Braun and Prince have put up. So I ask again are Braun and Fielder also over rated?
  7. I wouldn't doubt there is some interest from the Brewers for Reyes. Depending on the how much Reyes is looking to get maybe the Brewers can get Reyes on the deal that was offered to Prince or somewhere near that hopefully lower. If the Brewers could get Reyes on a 5-year $90-100m deal I would think Melvin and company would be very interested in Reyes but nearly the whole league would be interested in Reyes if that is all it will take. I won't be surprised if the Brewers sign Reyes nor will I be surprised if he just stays with the Mets. There won't be as big of a market for Reyes this year as Pujols and Prince are going to take the most of the free agent dollars that will be available. Sabathia will also be taking away some free agent dollars on the market as he will get an extension with the Yankees for more money. The Red Sox will not be in the market for FA bats as they will be looking for pitching. The market for Reyes is rather small. I wouldn't be surprised if the market came down to the Brewers and the Mets as being the market for Reyes. This could mean that Reyes could come at a smaller price tag than what he and his agent are thinking they will be getting. The last that I heard on the Reyes front is that they are looking for a Crawford like deal. I am not sure the Mets will give that to him and I definitely don't believe the Brewers will give him that contract either. A wild card team that I could see coming up and being active for Reyes could be the Braves or the Angels.
  8. Response to this:
  9. At least they are not the Red Sox or the Yankees. I think that was something nice about the Cardinals?
  10. Nice Krod! But please stop trying to kill me Brewers. Hopefully it will be a 1 2 3 inning when Axford comes in.

  12. I get the concerns really I do but this is another Hanley Ramirez like player. Hanley was only 3-years older than Bogarts is and was in his 2nd year at AA. Would you have traded someone like Marcum for Hanley Ramirez when he was playing in A ball? http://www.baseball-refer...n#standard_batting::none
  13. In the name of Angel Salome and the nearly-.400-hitting catcher so loved on this board 5 years ago before he broke his leg or whatever then had subsequent performance & character issues, I can't put that much stake in a prospect's promise if he's only gotten to A-ball. And if we're trading any in-his-prime, above-average #2/3 starter for a prospect, the prospect had better be pretty much MLB-ready. Trading for an A-ball prospect has to be darn near a total crapshoot. Only gotten to A ball because he is 18. He should be in AA before he is 20 and should be just pushed past AAA and be MLB ready in 2-3 years. Plus he would become the Brewers best prospect since Fielder.
  14. I would rather do Marcum for Xander Bogarts. He won't be ready for a few years and he is not going to be a SS when he fills out probably will be a 3B or a corner OF but he had an .834 OPS at age 18 in A ball! http://www.baseball-refer...n#standard_batting::none
