  1. I wish the Bucks would have went with Holiday instead of Jennings in the 2009 draft. Holiday is a better defender than Jennings and he is actually better at scoring effectively than Jennings which I actually found surprising. Jennings actually improved his eFG% this year though it wasn't by all that much and his true shooting percentage also increased. Holiday had a slight slip in both of those stats. I still wish the Bucks would have went with Holiday with that pick as I see Holiday being more of a true point guard than Jennings is.
  2. Actually Betancourt isn't the worst SS in MLB that honor belongs to Miguel Tejada why the Giants are playing him at SS right now is very odd. Well Tejada is the worst SS right now until the Giants move him over at 3B and then he becomes the worst 3B in MLB. What I find is funny someone suggested trading for Tejada or taking Tejada in the Kottaras thread. Tejada has actually been worse than Betancourt this year. Tejada's line so far this year .224/.253/.546 compared to Betancourt's line so far this year .233/.255/.605. People complain about how bad Betancourt is imagine if the Brewers had Tejada on the team right now instead of Betancourt. Also with Hardy I don't think he would care if he was coming to Milwaukee or not. If it means he gets to play in the postseason and show off his skills and that he can stay healthy which I doubt he will Hardy will go on the DL one or two more times this year he could actually get a bigger payday in free agency. Right now even if Hardy has a solid year from here on out he is still looking at a max 2-year deal with an option for a 3rd year due to his injury history. Hardy hasn't been healthy for a few years now. I also believe people are over valuing Hardy's value on the trade market. Hardy has a injury history which is going to be knocking down his value he is also a streaky hitter a very streaky hitter. It is not going to take more than one B or C type prospect there is no way the Orioles get anything more than a teams 15th best prospect for Hardy.
  3. Then a elbow drop from the top turnbuckle followed by a dropkick into Pujols while he is holding said folding chair. Pinned 1....2...3.... ding ding ding winnah!
  4. The Red Sox traded Manny Ramirez though the situation is completely different.
  5. Not advocating this trade but how about this? Mets get:HartGennettLuis JimenezTyler Chatwood Brewers get: BeltranWright Angels get:Fielder The Angels are the only team I could think of at the moment who would need a DH/1B option. Only other team I can think of would be the Rangers but I believe they are comfortable with who they have at 1B/DH. This would be a bad year if the Brewers were doing really bad to trade Fielder.
  6. C-, but no manager in MLB would be graded any higher than a C+.
  7. David Wright makes the most sense for the Brewers. The Manny Ramirez trade would be the trade to look at for a reference. The Rangers and to lesser extent the Angels make some sense here. The Yankees need pitching more than they need offense so they are not a fit.
  8. GIMP is good.
  9. He wasn't going to be a catcher. Lots of players ask to be moved to another spot. That has nothing to do with his attitude only your perception of him.
  10. The trade for Villanueva was pretty good also. Brantley would look horrible in CF defensively I would rather take Gomez's bad offense and good defense over Brantley's bad defense and good offense. Brantley is not a CF.
  11. Except the Brewers will have Saito coming back so the veteran bullpen arm will already be there. Coffey does make some sense to bring back though. I think Melvin is going to get Furcal and take on his whole salary and give up Farris and another player for Furcal. I believe it will be close to what Melvin gave up to get Durham in 08 it will just be a little bit more than that.
  12. Not the primary piece just the starting piece. Since he is the only player that I can see who the Mets would want everything after that is a guessing game which means there is very little chance that the Brewers trade for Reyes. You were reading way too much into my post. I wasn't saying that Gennett would be the primary piece he is the only piece that we have that would be in a deal for Reyes the rest of the pieces are missing like a primary trade piece. Gennett would be someone like Brantley in the Sabathia trade basically that is what the Brewers have in terms of doing a deal for Reyes. Now Furcal or Hardy the Brewers definitely have the pieces for them.
  13. Gennett would be the starting point after that it would be anyones guess. Furcal makes more sense trade wise that is if the Dodgers are out of it. I don't believe there will be all that much trade interest in Reyes as the Mets are going to be asking for a lot. Furcal and Hardy are probably the best bets where the Brewers give up a rather small prospect like they gave up for Durham and Morgan.
  14. 2006 Max Scherzer was selected by Arizona at the 11th pick. Still undecided on what he will be yet while the Cubs drafted Tyler Colvin a college player at the 13th pick in 2006. I do agree with you that we are not going to be getting a #1 or a #2 type starter from the college ranks at the picks we are at. I like Cron with the 15th pick as that would be a good pick while I am undecided on who the Brewers should take at the 12th pick. The Brewers could end up with another Jeffress take that whatever way you want to take it either good or bad.
  15. Beltran is a player to watch for bench depth but I expect the Yankees to pick him up and have him DH. Ludwick and Francoeur are also possibilities. For relief you have Capps, Coffey, and Byrdak as possibilities. For starters you have Marquis and Jackson as possibilities and I believe Buehrle has a no trade clause I can't remember if he does or does not at this time. Ludwick would be a good pick up and either Capps or Coffey would be great pickups also though I don't see the bullpen being that much of a problem. I would rather pick up Rodriguez but his demands are ludicrous.
  16. I never want to see the Brewers drafting a good defensive anything unless it means the player is also good offensively. It doesn't matter how good a player is at defense if they can not hit they are not going to be on a MLB roster and that right there is a wasted draft pick.
  17. As far drafting guys without a position, anyone drafted this summer is likely at least 2 years away from contributing. There will be plenty of holes to be filled by the time these guys arrive. The only players we have under contract more than 3 years are Braun and Lucroy, we'll potentially have openings at 3B, SS, 2B, 1B, CF, and RF by the time these draftees would be ready. Not to be nit picky or anything but Weeks has a vesting option also which could take him past the three years. Weeks vesting 4th year is almost guaranteed if he is healthy. For the most part I agree with you TheCrew but I like Cron as he will add something that you alluded to in your post. When drafted Cron will be the best hitting prospect the Brewers will have. If he is there at 15 I would take Cron depending on who else is available. I would select either Bradley or Jungmann at the 12th pick. The Brewers really should be drafting the player with the most tools either it be in college or a high school player. If the Brewers really wanted to take the best player out of the high school crop they could spend #1 type money on Bell which is what it would take to get him away from Texas. Where the Brewers are picking I don't see a player that will be available where it would be a bad pick unless the Brewers take a signability player at the 12th or 15th pick. The upside of the high school picks could be just that of where the college player is at right now or lower it could also be higher but you never really know that. I just want the Brewers to select the most athletic player whoever it maybe and I don't really care if they are from college or high school. It really should just be best player available.
  18. Maybe but the Dodgers also look to be out of it so Furcal should also be available which is a good thing for the Brewers. Of the teams that are in the race for a division or wild card right now that need a SS are the Brewers, Tigers, Giants, and Cardinals. The Giants are a somewhat real possibility but they really haven't given up a lot of talent recently for one player. They maybe more desperate right now with Sandoval out and with Posey out for the year. The Tigers also need some SS help I believe they will be looking at Reyes here as he would be almost perfect for them at the top of their lineup. The Cardinals may go all in and try to win another World Series with Pujols but they need pitching help more so than they need a SS if they want to do that as Lohse and others are going to fall back down to Earth soon. As for the Brewers they may have some pieces that the Mets will want but I don't believe the Brewers have all of the pieces needed. I think Furcal maybe more of a possibility if the Dodgers are out of it in July maybe even Hardy as he won't be all that expensive either. With Hardy though I believe either the Giants or the Cardinals will pick him up as he will be someone that will cost very little in prospects.

  20. I'll take Arnett as a blown pick but the Covey one was a blessing in disguise. Getting two picks in a rather loaded draft is rather nice all of the players that the Brewers could select this year are better than what the Brewers could have gotten last year including Covey. Yes it is another year the earliest that the player would be on the MLB roster. I like the talent better this year than what was available to the Brewers last year. The Brewers just need to change their system around as defense can be taught it is just a matter of getting the correct people in the correct spots and drafting the correct players. I am hoping for at least one impact player and one above average player to be drafted.
  21. I just don't see it. To me they are exactly the same.
  22. I just don't see Counsell as having average range he just does not pass the eye test. When looking at him playing at SS that he has played this year he looks to have as much range as Betancourt does. From watching Counsell and Betancourt playing SS they look about the same range wise.
  23. Average at fielding but his range is about as good as Betancourt's range is.
  24. Agreed. Definitely need more bench options good thing June is just around the corner and some trades should start to happen around the end of the month beginning of July so hopefully some help on the bench will be available.
  25. I don't blame RR for not subbing Betancourt defensively as there is no one on the roster that should be subbing for Betancourt defensively. I still do not understand why Melvin brought Counsell back since he is done last year should have been his last year and they should have brought Inglett back instead of Counsell as he was a cheaper option compared to Counsell. There really isn't anyone that much better than Betancourt defensively on the team at SS.
