  1. I would rather see the Bucks go after someone who can score on the perimeter. The Bucks really need a SG or a SF that can shoot well. Only player that I could see available for the Bucks would be Alec Burks. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bucks take Tristan Thompson or Jordan Hamilton.
  2. It would probably be best to do away with the type A and B free agents and just go with a franchise tag. This way you can limit the free agents a team can sign. An example of this would be that a team can franchise one player and only once in their career with that team. So lets say the Brewers franchise Prince this off season. The Brewers would then have the right to either match the contract or receive compensation a 1st and 3rd round draft pick a team can only sign one franchise player a year. If the franchised player does not sign with another team in free agency that player gets average of the top three players at their position. So lets say in this same scenario no teams offer Prince a contract and he doesn't sign with anyone else that means he would get a 1-year contract worth the average of the top 3 players at his position which would be $23m. Not the perfect system but it at least gets rid of some of the silliness that is the MLB compensation for free agents. This also makes big market and small market teams actually do some strategy on who they are going to place a tag on when they are only limited to one player to sign or tag as a franchise player. This would definitely make the teams like the Yankees and others think about signing one player over the other if they are only able to sign one big named player a year. An international draft for players under the age of 28 would be ideal. If a player is older than 28 I don't see a need for them to enter the draft as they are no longer an amateur player.
  3. No the Brewers haven't done that but the premise still stands. I still believe the Brewers could do this but it has yet to be done. I still would rather have someone who can hit and then find them a spot where they can play adequate enough defense. Having depth even if it is just 1B or corner OF players isn't a bad thing and I know you know that. You can always trade your depth for a need ala LaPorta and others who have been traded. I still believe the Brewers are going to go with the best player available at #12 and then at #15 they will take the best player available who can be signed. I just wish the Brewers would take a chance at trying to sign some of the big name high school players. I would rather see the Brewers invest a lot into the draft than free agency as the Brewers haven't had all that much luck in signing free agents. I still like Bell at the 12th pick with a college arm or bat with the 15th pick.
  4. I would rather try and get Dye to come out of retirement than have Hafner at 1B.
  5. Maybe but I don't see that many impact bats in the Brewers system anywhere really. Bell fills that void plus he is a switch hitter. But I believe Bell is a moot point because he is going to have a high price tag but with the changes that may come next year he may have to settle for less now because he could get a lot less next year. Yes I know everyone wants guys that can play defense well but I would rather have the bat than the defense. Defense can be taught and Bell to me looks like a player who will be a Braun type of a player. He is someone that I see as being a very hard working player. I believe he can become a good LF or RF but he may just be a 1B or LF but the Brewers do need a good bat at any position really. The Brewers really shouldn't be looking at defense first if the better player is someone who is not that great defensively but has a good bat I will take that good bat over the player who plays good defense and only has an OK bat. I believe people are over valuing defense here yes it is important but when drafting a player I am going to rate defense lower than how athletic and the players bat speed and their strength. This is especially true when you are drafting a high school player.
  6. Defensive upgrade maybe but at best you are getting the same offensive production. Stewart's best year was 2008 and he hasn't repeated that year or have come close to that year again. If you use UZR/150 McGehee and Stewart are about the same defensively. So there may not be an upgrade defensively at 3B.
  7. Is that suppose to be in blue?
  8. If the Brewers were to go with a high school player I would rather see them go with Josh Bell at the #12 pick and then take a safe sign ability pick at the #15 pick. I would rather spend the amount of money that would be needed to sign Bell than the Brewers spend that money on a free agent. But I do not see the Brewers drafting Bell because of the financials but I believe he would be the best pick at #12 for the Brewers.
  9. I don't get it. Are you saying you think LA Noire will be more like an interactive movie than a game? I would expect Rockstar to dial in the game play pretty well even if it is a little unique. And why on earth would you spend your money on a PC for gaming and not a console these days? I haven't heard of anyone doing that since Counter Strike was big. I use my PC to play games that are more simulation type of games plus MMO's do not play very well on a console. ? There is no way this game would run on a console. ? I have also found a disturbing trend in the PC gaming industry it looks as though all of the innovation for PC games has been coming from Russian or Eastern Europe game developers while most American developers are just churning out Call of Duty clones and other type of game clones. ?
  10. There is no way that the Angels trade Trout for 1/2 a year of Prince. None what so ever especially with the way Trumbo has been playing. He hasn't been playing great but he is a cheaper option that they can play at DH or 1B depending on how well Morales heals. Next year the Angels will be fine having both Morales and Trumbo at 1B/DH there is no need for them to get Prince even this year. Is Prince better than Trumbo? Yes, but do the Angels need Prince? The answer is no and a resounding no at that. I don't see why the Angels in their right mind would even trade for Prince and especially to give up someone like Trout. Prince just does not fit into the philosophy of that of the Angels and I just do not see how the Angels would be a fit for Prince. The Dodgers are more of a fit depending on the ownership situation and if the Dodgers get new owners they will definitely have the funds available to land Prince in the off season. I just do not see a situation where the Brewers really benefit from trading Prince this year unless the Brewers are completely out of the race.
  11. Don't know how he feels about OF play, I really doubt that he's a realistic option in the OF at this point unless it's to give Braun or Hart a day off here & there. I think he could learn to be passable in the OF, but the Brewers are going to have a huge hole to fill at 1B, & that's where Gamel will play (imo).I know Gamel is going to be the 1B next year I just wish it would be Braun and the Brewers would just stick Gamel in LF with Hart in RF and Gomez/Morgan in CF. It just seems to me that the defense on a whole would be a lot better with Braun at 1B and Gamel in the OF. But that is just a pipe dream really and Gamel will be the 1B next year.
  12. I can't wait for L.A. Noire to come out right now. ?I hope it isn't as bad as Mafia 2 was that game was garbage and way to short. ?
  13. If the Brewers are in 2nd or 3rd I can see Melvin making a small move for someone like K Rod. K Rod is definitely not a closer anymore but he could sure help the bullpen right now. I don't think it would take all that much to get K Rod from the Mets at this time. If the Brewers take on the buyout for next year that would make him even cheaper in terms of a prospect you are probably looking at a Cutter Dykstra type of a prospect for K Rod and I don't think his value is much higher than that.
  14. I know AndThat (Toby)'s opinion was that he wasn't impressed. However, even if the fairly pessimistic assessments of Gamel's defense are 100% accurate, he's going to be an upgrade over Prince in all likelihood. I know Gamel has said that he has found 1B difficult and I believe he also said that he felt better playing the OF. I can't remember if Gamel said this or if someone said that he looked better in the OF but I do know that Gamel said something along the lines where he sounded like he was uncomfortable in playing 1B. I would rather put Gamel in LF and have Braun play 1B that is my dream scenario which means it will not happen I would rather find a player who could platoon with Hart in RF through free agency than find someone to play 1B.
  15. The Red Sox are going to be looking for bullpen help more specifically a left handed specialist. I don't see Melvin trading Stetter or Braddock for Scuatro which I believe the Red Sox would want Braddock if he is healthy to be the lefty in their bullpen which would be way overpaying for Scutaro. I believe Furcal or Izturis/Hardy are more real possibilities as the Brewers match up well with what the Dodgers or Orioles would be looking to get in return. Furcal will cost a good prospect while Hardy/Izturis will cost a lot less maybe an A level player someone like Dykstra. But that all depends on how well Hardy plays he could cost about the same as Furcal if he is healthy and playing really well though I have my doubts Hardy can stay healthy for very long.
  16. The Mets are reportedly rumored to be willing to pay for the buyout. I don't see Rodriguez getting 55 games finished this season if he were on the Brewers definitely would be the 7th inning guy replacing Saito. If the prospects would be something minimal and the Mets were willing to take on a little bit of his 2011 salary I would do a deal for Rodriguez. Rodriguez is definitely not a closer anymore but he looks to be a useful bullpen asset.
  17. How about in bizzaro fantasy world the Brewers trade; McGehee, Rogers, Gennett, Betancourt, Gomez, and Gindl for Beltran, Reyes, Wright, and Rodriguez. Brewers go under financially in this scenario also.
  18. While I agree that it wouldn't be a good idea to trade away prospects that the team is already low on it is not like these are can't miss prospects. Weeks is blocking Gennett from moving up though depth isn't a bad thing especially with Weeks injury history with his wrists. Financially the Brewers could take on Reyes contract for this year but the following years no that will not be possible.
  19. Gennett is not a SS he is a 2B not a SS. His bat plays very well at 2B and he is good defensively there also. So no that does not make him a utility player I think you are thinking of someone completely different.
  20. Not one of those players mentioned is an impact talent, and the Mets will definitely want impact talent in reutrn for Reyes, if he is dealt. If the Mets were desperate enough to unload him, ala Kansas City last December with Greinke, the Brewers would most likely have to include one of Rivas or Peralta, as well as Scarpetta and a bat. But of the players you mention, you have a utility player, a #4 starter, and two guys who profile as 4th OF's. I think in the end, there will be quite a few contending teams out there that have impact talent in their systems to offer (Reds, Cardinals, Giants, Twins, Rays) who also might need a shortstop, who can easily beat any offer the Brewers might be able to scrape up. Gennett is far from a utility player he may not be an impact player but by no means is he a utility player I am not sure what you are talking about with any of the players that I suggested being a utility player. Komatsu and Schafer maybe 4th OF but they are better than what the Mets currently have in their farm system. Scarpetta is as good as Rivas so you just added a #4 starter by your definition to that list. I am rather confident that the Mets are not going to find many teams willing to take on Reyes at the price they will be asking for him. I just do not see all that many teams lining up to get Reyes unless a team really needs a SS. The Mets may get a better return on Beltran than they will with Reyes. The Rays are not going to trade for Reyes you can count them out that is not even a possibility. The Twins are the Twins they never trade any of their good prospects name the last time the Twins traded for a star player. The Twins will not make a trade like this it does not fit their philosophy as an organization. The Giants are possible but who do they have to trade? They certainly will not trade Belt who would be their biggest trade chip. The Cardinals maybe will do a trade but I believe there are OK with who they got. The Reds look as though they are fine with Janish and Renteria. Again who will be the team that will come in and give the Mets exactly what they want? I just do not see the teams lining up to get Reyes. If the Twins trade for a SS it will be someone like Hardy where they will only have to give away minimal prospects in return for a player not someone like Reyes where they will have to give up a lot.
  21. Keith Law tweeted Bradley Jr. with a wrist injury. Twitter link
  22. Not very often but you do have recent examples in Amare, Lebron, Bosh, and you can even throw in Carmello. Denver traded Carmello but he was not going to be resigning with Denver anyways when he would hit free agency he was going to either the Knicks or the Nets when he was eligible for free agency.
  23. I love all of those things. The wild card added excitement to baseball though the divisional realignment really didn't need to happen all they had to do was add two wild cards and that would have worked also. I also like inter-league play it is fun and I actually like to see the other teams from the other league play against the Brewers.
  24. I wish Braun would be the 1B option.
  25. According to McCalvy's twitter Wood was discussed. Link
