  1. colby I was just going to ask you about McCann. Do you think he will slip into the 2nd or 3rd round if his offense doesn't improve this year? I know he has been doing good lately but I am still not sold on his ability to hit at the major league level. His defense and leadership looks as though he would be ready to play in the majors right away at catcher. Also if the scouting reports I have been reading about Bradley lately are correct shouldn't his stock be dropping even further with the possibility of him not being able to play CF. If he can't play in CF his bat doesn't really play all that well in a corner spot and he doesn't really have speed so am I missing something here on Bradley? I know it is rather early but do you believe that the Brewers could get Bell? I like Bell the most behind Lindor but I believe he will be gone well before the Brewers pick.
  2. Keith Law just updated his top 2011 Draft guys. Law believe Lindor will go somewhere in the top 10 which means the Brewers would miss out on him. I still like Dickerson yes he is all bat and no defense but he is the power bat the Brewers farm system is lacking right now. I wonder if Josh Bell would slip down to the Brewers at the #15 spot that would be a nice pick up at that spot and I wouldn't mind missing out on Dickerson then since I think Dickerson might slip to the 2nd round but I am not sure he will be available when the Brewers pick again. Bell is also an all bat and no defense type of a player. Scouts are having their doubts with Bradley, Jr., it looks like they believe he won't be able to play CF in the majors and if he is not able to play CF his stock drops off a lot since he really isn't a speed or a power guy. I also like what I have seen out of James McCann from Arkansas. He looks good defensively behind the plate but I believe offensively he may struggle though he does have an easy swing. I would watch him as he could be someone that could be available in the 3rd or 4th round.
  3. I would rather move Braun to 1B. His back and rib area problems are concerning. I hope the Brewers realize this and move Braun to 1B and put Gamel in RF/LF as Hart can be moved to LF or stay in RF. I don't see trading Gamel as an option right now as his stock would be rather low right now. Basically the Brewers are in the same position as the Royals are with Gordon though Gordon is older than Gamel. I am not sure what the Brewers could possibly get by trading Gamel now. The Brewers should just stick it out with Gamel as he isn't hurting anyones development and he isn't costing the team all that much.
  4. He has an option.
  5. I really do not like Hart as a #2 hitter at all and I don't like Gomez there either which also eliminates Betancourt by default as a #6 or #2 hitter. I would prefer to have Gomez as the #8 hitter but if Gomez could somehow become more discipline at the plate he would be best used as the #2 hitter. I would rather have Hart in the #6 spot in the lineup as he is the best option in that spot. The only other option at the #2 spot is Lucroy and I don't really like him in that spot either but he would be the lesser of the two evils in Gomez and Betancourt. WeeksLucroyBraunFielderMcGeheeHartBetancourtGomezPitcher or you could go with the pitcher batting 8th and have Gomez or Betancourt bat 9th. The pitchers that the Brewers have except for Marcum can all hit fairly well and I am not sure on Greinke so I will put him in the same boat as Marcum as I haven't seen Greinke hit all that much. Narveson, Gallardo, and Wolf can all handle the bat well enough to be the #8 hitter. I wouldn't mind having Gomez batting in the 9th spot.
  6. I am going to go with Cameron Garfield as the breakout player in the minors in 2011. He will be another year older and he should improve both offensively and defensively for the Brewers at catcher. I also like Scarpetta and Dykstra as possibilities to have breakout years now if Dykstra could just improve on his defense he could be a good to a great utility player for the Brewers somewhat like what Hall was but probably not as good defensively as Hall was but better with the bat I believe.
  7. I believe the Brewers farm system right now needs some impact bats. I like Alex Dickerson as a possibility to replace Prince as I see him as a 1B type of a player. I also like Ricky Oropesa who I believe is somewhat like Branyan he has a ton of power and from what I have seen in video of him he could be just a little bit above average at 3B defensively probably more of a 1B than a 3B in the long run. There are some other bats I would like to see the Brewers take who are George Springer, Jackie Bradley, and Zach Cone. I could see Ricky Oropesa as a supplemental pick in the draft I am just not sure that he will be around when the Brewers pick again after 15. I don't think he would be the right pick at 15 but if Dickerson is available at either the #12 or #15 spot I don't see how the Brewers could pass him up. He is the power bat the farm system is currently lacking. I believe there are enough high upside with question marks for pitching that the Brewers could take in the 2nd-5th rounds of the draft. I really like the power bats that this draft has I am just not all that sure the Brewers will be able to pick up more than one in this draft that I like personally.
  8. I am going to choose the cheesiest one and go with The Axeman by the Omen. I am sorry but it was just way to tempting.
  9. Not really. Almost all of the new titles are 3D-capable. I don't use it all that much but it was just an extra option I got when I bought my TV in November plus I got all of the 3D stuff for free from Sony so there really wasn't any added extra cost other than I had to settle for a bigger TV because they didn't have the smaller TV in stock. The TV I have is to big for my room but I think I can live with that.
  10. some of these quotes remind me of Yogi's quotes. Hmmmm Greinkeisms maybe? I don't like the sound of that quick someone think of a better name for his quotes.
  11. Yeah just got the e-mail also but I wish they would have offered the discount tickets for the Thursday game against the Braves instead of Wednesday since I have my day off on that day.
  12. Doubt it. Since the majority of the Hispanic players are not really from Mexico most of the Hispanic players are from places like the Dominican. The Dominican Republic and Mexico are completely different cultures to make a comparison it would be like saying someone from Texas is the same as someone from New York.
  13. The Red Sox will have a DH spot open next year so it is possible that the Red Sox offer Pujols a contract. I am not sure about the Yankees but if they do miss the playoffs this coming year you can bet they will be aggressive and do something stupid like this in the off season.
  14. A salary cap won't work in baseball really. You would have to pay Prince what he is making now compared to what he was making when he first initially came up. Unlike the NFL MLB has a rather big and expensive minor league system while the NFL has a very cheap minor league system (college football). So basically a team like the Brewers would lose out on cost controlled players like Prince and Weeks. The rules for the roster would have to change along with calling up a player and sending them down. Basically Prince and Weeks would have been in Milwaukee a year after they were drafted. In the long run the Brewers would be losing money while a team like the Yankees really wouldn't be impacted by this change. Free agents will still go to the highest bidder and for the most part will go to the bigger markets. You still would have had Sabathia going to New York with or without a salary cap. The Gonzalez trade more than likely still happens even with a salary cap. Why? Because Gonzalez would have tested the free agent market anyways with or without a salary cap in place. If there was a salary cap you also have to take into consideration that there will be new rules on trades. Probably would be similar to that of the NBA and NFL which means no Sabathia for the Brewers which meant at that time no playoffs for the Brewers. Be careful what you wish for because what you are really wishing for is probably not what you want.
  15. But it will be close to $300 million. Probably something like 10 years and $280 million or somewhere around that figure. What I have read is that the Cardinals are not willing to go past 6 or 7 years with Pujols and if Pujols really wants what Rodriguez got he is going to be signing with another team. I really wouldn't be surprised to see the Cubs pick up Pujols for something like 10 years at $275 or $280 million.
  16. Reyes will get a contract similar to what Crawford got. Something like 7 years for $130-140 million.
  17. I was looking at the Hyatt Regency which is just across the river I believe it is from Fenway. Anyone ever stay there before?
  18. I am planning on going to Boston this year but I have no idea where to stay in Boston in terms of a hotel. I am looking to see at least two of the three games and I am just stuck on picking a hotel since I have never been to Boston before. I have been to New York City but never Boston and have no idea where to stay or the best place to stay at.
  19. Reyes would be nice but I believe Beltran will be more available but the Brewers have a need at both CF and SS one for defensive purposes and the other for offensive purposes. You can probably argue that Betancourt is both bad offensively and defensively but I don't really mind Betancourt at SS offensively. I believe the Brewers wouldn't be able to offer Beltran arbitration due to his contract having a guarantee that the team wouldn't be able to offer him arbitration. Beltran should cost less in prospects from the Mets since the Mets will be looking to get anything for him I wonder if they would take Gomez back for Beltran? Since the Mets can't offer Beltran arbitration it is either trade him or lose him and get nothing or resign him to a contract he does not deserve. As for Reyes he is going to cost a lot of prospects and I am not sure the Brewers have the prospects to give up nor should they give them up. If the Brewers did trade for Reyes that would really be going for it this year and next year you would probably see a Marlins like fire sale. If the Brewers won the World Series I wouldn't be against this.
  20. You must really hate all of the other countries national anthems then. Most of them are about war.
  21. There are plenty of teams with cash that can sign Fielder to a ridiculous contract. The Nationals, Orioles, Blue Jays, Angels, Dodgers, and Cubs could all sign Fielder to a deal that he is seeking. That is six teams that could sign Fielder to a monster contract there is no way Fielder will have to settle for a one or two year contract. Only way Fielder will have to settle for a one or two year contract is if he gets seriously injured.
  22. Brewers - Ichiro. Imagine Ichiro leading off and sliding Weeks down to the #2 spot that is a lot of OBP at the top of the batting order. Bucks - Carmelo Anthony perfect #3 who can shoot and drive I like him better than Lebron and he is underrated defensively. Packers - No idea not really an NFL fan anymore.
  23. Punto will be available all season. I don't see anyone giving him a spot in the majors.
  24. I just don't see the Mets keeping Reyes. He is going to be a free agent and would you pay Reyes Crawford type of money to play SS? Yes the Mets have tons of money to pay him that doesn't mean they will pay him. I don't really see the Mets competing this year and I am not sure the Mets are going to resign Reyes next year to a huge extension. It would make sense for the Mets to unload Reyes and pick up some better and younger players.
