  1. So far this year for Carmona. SeasonTeamWLSVGGSIPK/9BB/9HR/9BABIPLOB%GB%HR/FBERAFIPxFIPWAR 2010Indians4107744.23.834.030.40.25775.6 %53.1 %4.3 %3.434.305.160.5 Not great but he would definitely look good in a Brewers uniform right about now. His walks are a little bit high though still something that could be corrected though his LOB% is rather concerning. I still would prefer him over Davis or Parra.
  2. Yeah that is what I was thinking but you know ownership is going to want to keep people in the ballpark so I wouldn't be surprised if the Brewers management went for someone like Dunn and say hey we are trying approach if they trade Fielder. The better scenario would be to see what the Brewers have with Gamel and see if he will stick at 1B.
  3. Dunn though has a great OBP. Plus you normally don't put a Cirillo or a Loretta type in the big RBI spot. So you need the big bopper in that spot. Other than Braun and Fielder there are no other big boppers in the lineup. I'm not sold on Branyan staying healthy for a 1/2 of a season and then you would have to platoon him at 1B. I would rather just spend some extra money on Dunn than get two players to play one position that shouldn't need an extra player at that position. McGehee is close enough to a Loretta type for me in the lineup. If the Brewers can get more production out of the RF spot Dunn should be a good to a great addition at 1B. I would rather replace Fielder with someone like Dunn than Cirillo or Loretta types. So if you replace Fielder with Dunn you basically almost have the same offense. Where you would want Cirillo and Loretta types would be at Catcher and RF which I think the Brewers could easily find internally or externally. Cain, Lucroy, Salome, and Gamel or the Brewers could go the cheap route when trading Fielder and just go with those four and no free agent acquisitions. I don't see the Brewers being able to upgrade the pitching situation through free agency next year so the pitching staff we have right now will probably be the same that we will have next year.
  4. Didn't see anything that he was at spring training. Must of missed it then if he was.
  5. Probably just a muscle memory problem. Jeffress will have not pitched for almost a whole year now. I wish the Brewers would have brought Jeffress to spring training at least for a few weeks to get some work in at least.
  6. Not really he could have just double switched put Inglett in RF not like there is a difference between Inglett and Hart.
  7. Just me or does Macha have the same problem that Yost had. He doesn't know when to take a pitcher out of the game.
  8. This has to be one of the better outings by a pitcher not named Gallardo so far this year.
  9. Is it just me or is the strike zone today really inconsistent today?
  10. Nice outing so far by Narveson. Now if only the offense could wake up and do something.
  11. Edmonds out and Gerut in CF now. Did Edmonds get hurt or is his injury bothering him now? Only have gameday on right now.
  12. MLB The Show has a more detailed franchise mode better than Madden's though I haven't played Madden in like 5 years now. MLB 2K series has a rather simple franchise mode. If you want full realism get MLB The Show if you want a little water downed version go with 2K.
  13. Gotta love the 70's/80's porn mustache.
  14. If you trade Fielder you could probably replace him with Dunn this off season giving Dunn a 2 or 3-year deal at about $35-40 million wouldn't be a bad idea though I'm not sure I would want to pay Dunn anything more than $13-15m a year. If the Brewers could get Dunn for 3-years at $36m I could go for that. I'm just not sure that will be a wise move with the Brewers still needing pitching and the only big pitcher that is going to be on the market will be Lee and the Brewers would have to pay Lee about $18-20m a year for him for around 5-6 years.
  15. I wonder if the Cardinals are stuck in neutral right now? Last 10 games for the Cardinals 3-7 so far this month the Cardinals are 5-7 this month and the Brewers are 6-5 so far this month and the Cubs are 4-7 so far this month. So things are not as dire as everyone is making them out to be. The Cubs could be in for a very bad May they have a real difficult schedule ahead. The Brewers also have a tough schedule ahead with the Cardinals probably having the easiest schedule of the three. I'm just worried about the Reds though I'm not sure their pitching staff will be able to keep up with what they are currently doing right now though. The teams offense maybe stuck in neutral right now but if it starts going a little bit better than what it has been doing it should release some pressure off of the pitching staff and the bullpen.
  16. The Brewers definitely did do a disservice to Gamel but Gamel also didn't capitalize on his opportunities either.
  17. Way too much that is just overpaying for a declining pitcher. Gamel and Salome would be well enough even Narveson and Gamel would be enough. No need to add another prospect into that deal.
  18. Not necessarily. The rotation is only missing an ace like pitcher in the rotation. The only thing that is missing from the Brewers rotation now from when Maddux was here is that there is no ace (Ben Sheets) on the team. This team really does miss Sheets even though he was injured a lot later in his Brewers career Sheets by far is one of the greatest and best pitchers the Brewers have ever had. Sheets could give you 9 innings in almost every game he started in this rotation you have no one who you can reliably count on to go 7 innings. Wolf, Gallardo, and Bush are all equal to what the Brewers had before if not better. The only thing the Brewers are missing is a Sheets like pitcher.
  19. Bush would be someone that hasn't changed since Maddux left he is still the same pitcher as he was when Maddux was here. If you throw out last years injury plagued year and use this years stats with Peterson you will see that his stats are about the same as they were when Maddux was here. Villanueva is also doing better this year with Peterson than he ever did with Maddux. Now for Parra the book is still out on him. Last year was more of a precursor to what was happening to Parra at the end of the 2008 season. During the end of the 2008 season Parra was burning out and was showing signs of being what he was doing in all of 2009. You can also file Gallardo as being the same pitcher as when he was with Maddux as when he wasn't with Maddux though 1-years worth of stats really isn't fair for either side of the coin here nor does it really paint an accurate picture. I believe pitching, hitting, fielding, running, etc. coaches are just scapegoats for fans in baseball and nothing more they are also scapegoats for managers and GM's also.
  20. The injury parts wasn't targeted at you it was a concern that I am having with the Brewers medical staff. Actually with Turnbow though the Brewers turned a guy into someone who wasn't able to throw strikes into someone who was able to throw strikes and then all of a sudden lost it. As for the Cardinals developing pitching they have only really developed two good pitchers in Wainwright and Carpenter. The Brewers were able to get Davis and Capuano on track in terms of coming out of nowhere and then establishing themselves. The blame is two fold here you have to blame the players and the coaching staff. The coaching staff can only coach the player into doing something it is on the player to actually go out and do what they have been taught to do. I wouldn't say the Brewers have been doing a terrible job at this. Parra when he first came up did throw a lot of strikes and he wasn't walking all that many people. Then all of a sudden last year it seemed as though Parra had completely forgotten how to pitch I don't know how much blame you can put on the coaches for that. It maybe something mechanical or mental with Parra but that is another discussion for another time. Based on the past injuries to nearly every single high profiled pitcher in the Brewers organization. The lack of ordering MRI's it just seems as though the Brewers medical staff in the minors is lacking behind. I just do not like the way the Brewers have been treating injuries in the minors for a while now. I am not blaming the organization for the injuries I am just blaming them for not taking care of them in a timely matter and identifying these issues correctly.
  21. It does take awhile for young arms to develop into a good pitcher. Turnbow and McClung are horrible examples especially Turnbow. Turnbow when he was first with the Brewers did throw a lot of strikes and then all of a sudden for no apparent reason after his all star appearance he forgot how to pitch. I don't think you can blame anything on the Brewers staff on that. Just throwing strikes is not something you want I bet they all can throw strikes it is just not the right strikes. Suppan throws a lot of strikes and you can see what happens to him. Bush throws a lot of strikes also. Location is more important than just throwing strikes. It is more than just throwing strikes pitchers have to locate, locate, locate, and change speeds against hitters. There is no pitcher in baseball that is going to get away from the walks they are going to happen especially with the strike zones that both hitters and pitchers have to face for example there isn't a single consistent strike zone across the league from the umpires. It is not something you can blame the staff on for not developing if you could teach this you will have a job for life and you could pick whatever team you wanted to go to also and set your own price. Some of this is mechanics some of it is mental and some of it is just plain luck and skill. I don't think the Brewers have had a hard time developing young pitchers who can throw strikes that is not the problem. It is the Brewers inability to draft pitchers who can stay healthy year in and year out in the minors. Most of that has to do with luck but the Brewers medical staff is definitely lacking behind in my opinion.
  22. I believe Gamel is going to be traded this deadline. I believe the Brewers organization as a whole are starting to sour on Gamel. Right or wrong in their thinking Gamel should bring back a decent pitching prospect or positional player in a trade. If the Brewers are in it in June and July I could see Gamel being a center piece for someone like Lee. If the Brewers are not in it I could see something like a Hellickson for Gamel + trade. What the plus would be I'm not sure maybe someone like Coffey though I think the Brewers would need to get something more in return if Coffey would be in the deal though it wouldn't be all that much. As for Lawrie I don't see why he should want to be a catcher and I don't really think he would have been a good catcher defensively I believe he is more of a 3B or a corner OF than he is a 2B or a Catcher. Plus Lawrie would be blocked by Salome and Lucroy while having a lot of catcher depth is good the Brewers actually already have plenty catcher depth in the minors. Garfield, Lucroy, and Salome are three pretty good catcher prospects. I don't see Lawrie not wanting to be a catcher as something bad since his bat will play at any position and he should be special at about any position he plays at maybe not so at 1B. I think Lawrie's goal is simple and that is to get to the majors as fast as he can which is fine by me I don't really care if he doesn't want to be a catcher as long as he is playing a position for the Brewers. To me switching positions in the minors is like someone switching their major in college. You have to remember Lawrie is still very young yet and he may not have matured yet as a player or as a person not everyone can be a Prince or a Braun in terms of maturity.
