  1. This is my favorite conspiracy theory.? Warning watching this video will consume 10 minutes of your life that you will not get back.
  2. Competitive balance? No. Competitive? Yes. Baseball is very competitive now than it was say 5-10 years ago. There are more teams that are good and even teams that are not so good (2006 Cardinals, 2007 Diamondbacks, 2008 Dodgers) making it into the playoffs and not making it into the playoffs (2008 Yankees). The game is very competitive right now is it perfectly competitive no and I don't expect it to be the NFL isn't perfectly competitive either.
  3. Not straight up. I believe the Rays and the Brewers would also ask for something in return. It would be selling low on both of them though.
  4. For the Packer fans: http://th88.deviantart.com/images2/150/i/2003/52/f/7/Green_Bay_Packers.jpg and the Favre fans out there: http://th30.deviantart.com/fs24/150/f/2007/363/f/5/Green_Bay_Packers_by_phenomenal1.jpg http://th36.deviantart.com/fs31/150/i/2008/186/e/9/Green_Bay_Packers_Football_by_orangeillini14.jpg I love this one of Kareem though http://th32.deviantart.com/fs16/150/f/2007/212/c/9/A_Tribute_To_a_Laker_Legend_by_GKgfx.jpg The Red Sea http://th79.deviantart.com/fs8/150/i/2005/353/f/1/The_Red_Sea_by_FireEmber.jpg
  5. I have been searching high and low all over the internet to find some wallpapers of the Milwaukee Brewers. I love the ones from the Brewers site but they have been getting old and they are about 2 or 3 years old now. I found a couple of Prince Fielder and of the Brewers and I decided to share with everyone what I have found. Current desktop wallpaper I am using. http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:RsYF8aTMCn_shM:http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/1485/fielderwpwx8.png Another of Prince http://th32.deviantart.com/fs16/150/f/2007/214/a/e/Prince_Fielder_by_SheedsWeed36.jpg Deviant Art website where I found some others. Links to the pictures in their full size. First one. Second one.
  6. More information on Peavy Buster Olney's Blog (you need to be an ESPN subscriber) and The San Diego Union-Tribune both state that Peavy would accept a trade to a team that is not on his 5 team list but the team would have to excercise the 22m option or increase the buyout in 2013. Peavy would also get a full no trade clause if dealt to a team not on the list.
  7. Wasn't Reynolds on Fox or TBS during the playoffs I remember seeing him on one of the channels during a pregame or the post game show.
  8. It is not that far fetched. Much of the US is still unexplored especially some of the forests in and around Washington. As for other creatures like big foot and others it is rather probable that there is something that we haven't seen yet. There are still bugs, fish, and other animals being discovered. There are still a lot of places in the world that haven't been explored.
  9. If the Twins felt as though Ortiz wasn't a fit I don't see how they would like Fielder as their DH.
  10. As I expected it doesn't look like the Cardinals are going to go after Peavy. Bernie Miklasz from the STLtoday says that he talked to some people in the Cardinals organization and they said that there were talks but nothing came of them. That rules out the Cardinals for now. I believe Sabathia will be signed before Peavy gets traded though. If we lose out on Sabathia which I believe we will I wouldn't be suprised to see Melvin go after Peavy who would be a better fit than a FA signing.
  11. That was part of it yes but I believe there was a quote where he said he didn't want to leave San Diego and that was the main reason why he blocked the trade to Boston.
  12. I believe Giles blocked a trade during the season stating he doesn't want to go anywhere else than San Diego. I believe he was going to be traded to the Red Sox. I don't see Giles being an option in a trade at all I believe he has a full no trade clause if the Padres pick up his option which it looks like they are going to do.
  13. Do you have the numbers for Crawford. Just looking at the stats for Crawford at ESPN the only site I can get into other than here at work have Hart and Crawford almost identical with the stats I can compare them with from work.
  14. There was only 5 players who had an OPS in the upper 800's at 3B. If Martin would have had an OPS like he did in 2007 which is where I believe he will be close to be around he would be in the top 7 of all MLB 3B in OPS. If Martin moved from the Dodgers to Milwaukee his slugging would improve which means he would have a higher OPS. Not to mention he improved on his BB's and K's this year. I believe if Martin would switch from the Dodgers to the Brewers he could increase his OPS from this year from .781 to .860 - .875. It would be somewhere around there. I wouldn't call that a mediocre hitting 3B.
  15. I wouldn't mind trading Hart and Salome for Crawford and Sonnanstine. I doubt that would be enough for both Crawford and Sonnanstine but it would be a starting point at least.
  16. I would say the chances of Peavy getting traded is at about 65% for him being traded sometime between after the world series and the trading deadline. I would put it at 40% of him being traded this winter though. I'm confident that he will be traded but will the Padres get the full value for him? I doubt they will be able to get the full value of Peavy from teams. The Yankees and Red Sox are hording their prospects more than in the past. Though Hughes has been rumored to be on the block for Peavy. The teams that the Padres would like to get in on the deal I would say have to be the Brewers, Braves, Rays, Red Sox, and the Angels. These teams have the highest value to the Padres I believe in the prospects and already proven players that the Padres would like to acquire. I still don't believe the Brewers will trade for Peavy though. I believe the Brewers will go after another left handed bat to help balance the lineup.
  17. I wonder if Martin could play 3B. The only problem would be who would the Brewers trade to get Martin. The Dodgers key concern would be pitching but I don't see why that would be since they have Kershaw, Billingsley, and Kuroda in the rotation next year if they resign Lowe they would still have a good 1-4 pitching staff. Maybe a deal that sends Bush, Rivera, and Escobar for Martin would work. I'm not sure I would do that since you would be giving up a lot for someone that you may not need. If Martin could play 3B it would be a smart move but still not one I would do because of the pitching you would have to give up to get Martin and I just wouldn't give up pitching to get someone like Martin.
  18. I don't think the Brewers will trade Parra and Jeffress in a deal and they won't have to either. The Yankees are going to offer Hughes, Cano, and someone else. The Red Sox could easily bet that deal with Lawrie, Masterson, and Ellsbury assuming the Red Sox also get Greene. The Braves could offer Escobar, and one or two of their minor league prospects. I don't see how the Padres are going to get 2 high pitching prospects plus high position players. The market for Peavy will be high but it won't be as high as some people think it is. If the Brewers put an offer out with Parra/Jeffress, Hardy/Escobar, Gwynn, and Braddock/Periard. This deal would be close to what the A's got for Haren. This is also a better deal than what the Yankees and Cardinals could put out there. The teams that could easily outbid the Brewers in terms of prospects would be the Red Sox and the Braves. I don't see the Braves putting there two best prospects on the market and Yunell Escobar in a trade. I just don't see the Braves doing this and if they do this I don't believe they are a better team because of it. The Red Sox really wouldn't be losing much of anything with getting Peavy in this deal other than losing probably their best CF so I doubt they would put Ellsbury in a deal. With the Yankees deal I don't see how the Padres can accept Cano's big contract. I believe Cano is going to be a good to a great 2B but he has an over valued contract right now and I don't see the Padres taking on that contract even if Greene is in the deal. The Yankees would have to pay for nearly all of Cano's contract and Greene's contract also. I don't see that as a possibility but the Yankess have suprised me a couple times before. Even if the Brewers trade away Hardy they could get Greene back in his place and Escobar would take over in 2010. If Escobar is traded in this deal the Brewers would have to lock up Hardy since there really isn't anyone in the minor league system who is anywhere near ready to play SS for the Brewers by 2012. Just my opinion here other than Escobar I don't see anyone on the Brewers minor league system who would be a good SS. I don't believe the Cardinals will make a run at Peavy. The Cardinals do need pitching but Rasmus in RF or CF would be a better option than trading him away. The Cardinals really need some more bats and unless the Cardinals are really down on Carpenter and they don't believe he will return to what he was I don't see the Cardinals trading for Peavy. The market is actually as bad for the Padres as it was for the Twins. Yes there is interest but I don't think there are that many teams that are going to be willing to trade with the Padres given the no trade clause. Even the Brewers may back out of the Peavy talks which will hurt the Padres more than some people may think. If the Brewers back out that is a lot of prospects and even MLB proven players off the list for the Padres which would bring the cost for Peavy down a bit. The Brewers could back off and decide instead to use their prospects to land another left handed bat to protect Prince and Braun for the year. Maybe the Brewers do make a run for Peavy we have the prospects to do it but you have to ask yourself is it worth it? I believe it is depending on the deal and who is involved in the deal.
  19. Brewers. Their fear would be that Peavy could turn into another Ben Sheets, suffering frequent injuries while earning $48 million from 2010 to '12. A Rickie Weeks-J.J. Hardy offer would snap the Padres to attention - look ma, a new middle infield! - but the Brewers are not going to part with their best young pitchers, righty Yovani Gallardo and lefty Manny Parra. From Ken Rosenthal's article today. I'm not sure the Padres would want Weeks or Hardy. But they could sign Hardy to an extension with the money that Peavy was making. I wouldn't like this deal at all since it would force us to sign Durham and have Escobar playing. Plus Jeffress would probably have to be put in the deal also and if not Jeffress Braddock would be in the deal. Rosenthal also confirms that the Astros don't really have a chance at getting Peavy the Astros just don't have the prospects to get the deal done.
  20. Hopefully it is not all just Yankees and Red Sox highlights for the first 20 min and then small highlights of all the other games followed by 6 min of talking about how the Yankees or Red Sox will make it through the season and win the World Series.
  21. With what prospects?
  22. Brewers send Salome, Hardy, and Hart for Masterson/Buchholz, Youkilis, and Josh Reddick. I would really like Lester but the Red Sox are not going to give him at all. I believe Buchholz and Masterson are available though. I wonder if the Red Sox would part with Reddick though.
  23. Some of the other NL teams that might be a fit for Peavy include the Cardinals, who face an uncertain situation with Chris Carpenter, or the Astros, or the Brewers, who stand to lose both CC Sabathia and Ben Sheets to free agency. One thing I don't agree with in this article is the Astros being a team that could get Peavy. I don't believe the Astros have the prospects to land Peavy. The Cardinals have Rasmus but after that I'm not sure who they could offer. The Brewers once again have the usual suspects Gamel, Jeffress, and Escobar. But with the way it sounds or what Towers is making it sound like the way the Padres are going it seems they are looking for players who will be MLB ready by 2010 or 2011 with 2012 being the latest. That means Hardy is probably out of the question or maybe not. Hardy might be a player that the Padres build around with a young pitcher like Braddock. I wonder if the Padres will also trade Young at the trade deadline if this is the case. Peavy is one of the pitchers that I would straight up trade Hardy/Escobar for. I'm not so sure Escobar alone is worth Peavy but Hardy is darn close to the value that Peavy is at.
  24. I don't feel like re reading through this whole thread again to look for this but has anyone mentioned Larry Bowa? He would be someone that has had past manager experience. I wouldn't mind seeing Bowa as the manager of the Brewers. I wonder if Maddux, Castro, and others will be staying with the Brewers with the new manager coming in.
  25. Do NOT buy Live through your 360 with your credit card! Why pay the normal fee when you can go to Best Buy or any other store and buy the 12 month card and get a month free. I did the mistake of paying for the full year with my credit card straight through with my 360. Yeah it is easier to do it by just buying the subscription but you don't get a deal at all for paying up for a whole year. Which is odd. Every thing if you pay up for a whole year in advance you normally get a discount. Not with Microsoft apparently but if you buy the card in the store you get a month free for the exact same price you are paying for the subscription.
