  1. And so does pitching and hitting. Your missing 2/3rd of the equation. Prince's value is not dropping maybe if you were expecting another 50 HR season. But why would you be expecting that? Losing Prince is losing a lot of the offense for the Brewers and adding the players above is not going to replace what we get for Prince.
  2. I would offer Gagne arbitration the probability that Boras would take the arbitration money has to be low. I can't remember the last time a free agent to be that was a Boras client accepted arbitration.
  3. Only if the Orioles would take Suppan instead of Hall. That is a pretty weak trade for Fielder the Yankees could offer more with just a Cano and Kennedy/Hughes trade for Fielder. At least the Brewers could flip Cano then to the Dodgers for Kemp or Ethier.
  4. The Yankees would have to pick up Abreu's option for him to be traded. I don't believe the Yankees will pick up his option though I believe they will part ways with Abreu and Giambi this off season. I wouldn't mind trading Prince to the Yankees for Cano, Hughes, and a prospect though. Then flipping Cano to the Dodgers for Kemp. A out field of Kemp, Braun, and Hart would be a rather interesting OF. The only thing that would suck is that we would be losing our best OBP player in that deal. Trading away Weeks and Gillespie to the Mariners for Lopez and Washburn. Finally trading Suppan to Texas for Millwood one bad contract for another. I doubt the Suppan deal would work out though. Hughes would start out the year in AAA. 2009 Lineup 1. Hart RF 2. Lopez 2B 3. Kemp CF 4. Braun LF 5. Hardy SS 6. Hall/Branyan 3B 7. Nelson 1B 8. Kendall/Rivera C Bench: Rivera C, Branyan/Hall, Durham, Kapler, Iribarren Rotation 1. Sheets/Sabathia 2. Gallardo 3. Parra 4. Millwood/Bush 5. Bush/Suppan Bullpen Torres, McClung, Villanueva, Stetter, Difelice, Riske, Shouse
  5. If the Brewers would have made it to the next round you would have seen this charge by now. So you shouldn't see a charge for the World Series tickets.
  6. I have a feeling that the Brewers bring back Gagne but at a lower price than what they had him for this year. Gagne did pitch rather well in low leverage situation. I just wouldn't put him in the 8th or 9th inning. I wouldn't offer Gagne arbitration because that would be overpaying for him.
  7. The Royals are interested in Francouer and DeJesus has been mentioned in a lot of trade rumors. I believe he is available it is just that the Royals haven't gotten any serious offers.
  8. Pitching staff based on that lineup would be: 1. Sabathia 2. Gallardo 3. Parra 4. Bush 5. Suppan Bullpen Villanueva McClung Stetter Shouse Riske Torres Gagne/Mota (Whoever is cheaper and isn't a type B free agent) otherwise DiFelice, Dillard, or Coffey.
  9. If you bought the tickets through your season ticket package I'm guessing your ticket rep will call you if you want to put the money towards next year or take the refund. If you were one of the lucky lotto winners then I'm guessing it will be soon.
  10. Nintendo's DS is probably a better hand held gaming system than the PSP for the younger kids in terms of games and I'm not sure they even make the movies for the PSP any more. If you want the movie thing I suggest getting one of those portable DVD players. But I would stay away from the PSP in terms of the games for the younger kids. Nintendo in general is geared towards the younger crowd of gamers than Sony is. Nintendo DS web site. This site will show you the games that the DS has and you will see that they are geared more towards kids than the PSP is. I would go with the DS.
  11. Hardy at the time was hitting 2nd and I didn't see a need to change that and Hart was hitting good enough to be a #5 hitter. Taveras to be honest I just want him for his base stealing not his OBP and at the time I posted it he would have been the only player I could think of who would be available at the time. Escobar would be replacing Counsell/Hall in the lineup which I believe Escobar could easily replace offensively and defensively. Plus Escobar is batting lower in the lineup. I don't like Hart batting leadoff I would rather have Weeks leading off than having Hart lead off. I wouldn't mind trading Hart for DeJesus though and having him take over at the top of the lineup. 1. DeJesus CF 2. Polanco 2B 3. Braun LF 4. Fielder 1B 5. Hardy 3B 6. Gamel RF 7. Escobar SS 8. Kendall C This lineup here would get you more wins and adds a lot of OBP to the team. There are better players than Blalock out there Blalock has just been a popular player around here for awhile and would be an ideal player to platoon with Hall but other than that I wouldn't want to see Blalock playing everyday. Not only does Blalock hurt you OBP wise but he also hurts in the OPS. The last time Blalock had a good year OPS wise in a full year was in 2003 and 2004. His OPS hasn't been that good after those years. I just don't see Blalock as anything more than a platoon player. Getting rid of Fielder and having Blalock replacing him is not a good idea.
  12. The bullpen over the whole of the year was actually rather good. In the month of September and into October the bullpen was phenomenal. Month of September stats ranked by WHIP for the relievers. I kept McClungs start in September in here because it was basically a long relief appearance anyways. I also didn't include Riske's three appearances in September since he was injured. Torres had a bad month of September while Gagne, McClung, and Mota had a good month. Torres just gave up to many hits and walks in the month of September and looked to be tired going into September. 13. Hart's OBP by month. Two good months followed by 2 average months and 2 horrible months. Not really a good year for Hart overall it just wasn't one month that Hart was bad OBP wise. By Day/Month AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB HBP SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS April 95 13 28 5 2 1 10 7 3 20 4 0 .295 .358 .421 .779 May 108 13 33 6 1 5 15 6 0 20 5 3 .306 .342 .519 .861 June 102 14 27 9 0 8 24 3 1 14 1 0 .265 .292 .588 .880 July 98 14 26 11 0 2 10 5 0 22 6 1 .265 .301 .439 .740 August 107 19 32 8 2 4 20 3 1 11 6 1 .299 .310 .523 .833 September 98 3 17 5 1 0 10 3 0 21 1 2 .173 .192 .245 .437 Adding Dewitt is another player that is just like Hardy. Not bad but not great either. You are not adding much to the OBP for the team with adding these players. I like Dewitt but the Dodgers are not going to part with him unless you are willing to part with Hardy and that would be extremely over paying for Dewitt.
  14. Yes. Fielder gives you more positive in the offense than Blalock does. You are replacing your best OBP player with another weak OBP player. I don't trust Blalock staying healthy for more than half of the year. The hole that is created by moving Fielder is worse than the hole you are filling with Cain. Actually Suppan is a good 4 or 5 pitcher a highly over paid one but a good 4 or 5 pitcher in the rotation. I really don't see how the team would improve with removing Fielder with the best OBP on the team with another low OBP player. We don't need more of these players we actually need more Fielders in regard to OBP than we need of Braun (low OBP) players. Adding Blalock and removing Fielder is not a good idea. You just dug a bigger hole to fill a smaller hole. Blalock is actually closer to Hardy in terms of career OBP than he is from Fielder. The offense that you are losing here is more than what you are gaining in pitching. If you are going to trade Fielder it better be for Lincecum, Kershaw, or Billingsley type of pitchers not a Cain type of a pitcher. If you are trading Fielder away it better be for a future ace or a number one type of guy in your rotation. Not for a number 2 or a number 3 pitcher.
  15. I like Polanco but I believe the Tigers are looking to cut what they are spending on players not add salary. Polanco is only going to be making $4.6 million next year. I believe the Tigers would rather have Weeks than Hall if they are trading Polanco.
  16. Defensively you got a little bit better but OBP wise you just lost your best OBP guy and you replaced with a guy who hasn't even come close to what Prince has done OBP wise in his whole career. Blalock is a platoon player at best I wouldn't want to see Blalock in the lineup everyday at all. I don't see the Dodgers trading away Dewitt and trading Prince for Cain is over paying for Cain if that is what you are suggesting. I don't see this lineup getting more than 70 wins. Even with Sabathia and Cain in the rotation.
  17. Ummmm no Hardy is more along the lines of Troy Glaus than Casey Blake. The difference between Hardy and Glaus this year is about 3 home runs, 2 doubles, and about 20 more walks. The walks is what is really killing Hardy when you compare him to Troy Glaus who is signed at 4 years for $45 million. I believe Hardy could get a deal that is worth what Glaus is making. That is only about $3 million difference between what Young is making. Hardy will get paid if he playrs 3B or SS. If Hardy would have drawn more walks this year he would have had an OPS close to what Glaus had this year. That would move him from 8th in MLB to 6th in MLB for OPS. Hardy is a top 3B as much as he is a top SS. He will get paid no matter where he plays. I still say 5 years at $45 million is likely and if not at 5 then a 4 year deal at $55 million would be adequate to sign Hardy at. That is a $13.75 million a year versus a $15 million a year deal a difference of only $1.25 million if Hardy doesn't sign because of a difference of $1.25 million then good bye. This is not even putting Hardy's defense into account at 3B which would be at David Wright and Ryan Zimmerman levels. If you add that into the equation you would see Hardy would be paid as a top 5 3B.
  18. Hardy is a top 5 SS in the NL in OPS and Hardy is also a top 5 3B in the NL in OPS. There was only one 3B with an OPS of 1.000 in all of baseball. Hardy would rank 8th in OPS in all of baseball at 3B. Hardy is still a top 10 3B in MLB. If Hardy switches over to 3B he will get less money but not a significant amount less. He would get about 1 to 2 million less at 3B than he would at SS. I believe Hardy at 3B would get just under Troy Glaus type of money at 3B. At SS Hardy would get about what Jimmy Rollins gets. There are only 3 highly paid SS in the game. If Hardy really wants to make some money he should switch from SS to 3B. Only Jeter, Tejada, and Renteria are highly paid SS in the game. I'm not taking into account Ramirez's contract yet but I don't believe Hardy is anywhere near the potential that Ramirez holds. 3B will actually increase Hardy's payday. I would expect Hardy if he moved from SS to 3B this year for the Brewers to lock him in for a long term contract at 5 years for $45 million. Which is just under what Glaus is making. I doubt Hardy gets 10 Million a year at SS unless it is from the Yankees and Jeter isn't going anywhere any time soon. Unless the Yankees are willing to trade Chamberlain for Hardy.
  19. Here are some of the Top plays of 2008 from the Brewers. Kapler robs a home run. Braun hits a walk off grand slam. Prince Walk off home run. Rickie's Clutch 3 run Home Run. 3TO Pinch hit game tying Home Run Hart's game saving catch
  20. Philly's offense was only in less of a funk than the Brewers in the recent series. Maybe it was great pitching by the Brewers and Phillies but neither offense looked good at all.
  21. Suppan was signed as one of those saying hey look fans we are trying to sign someone in free agency moves that GMs do. It is a dumb move but every year a team will do this. It is suppose to signal to fans that we are trying to win. Suppan was also signed because at the time we signed him we had no one who could pitch 200 innings a year. The only pitcher we had on the staff who could do that was one who would got odd injuries at inopportune times. Was he overpaid yes. I agree "Big Game Pitcher" should be outlawed forever. I hate that phrase.
  22. Bobby Valentine, Bob Brenly, Don Mattingly, and Dale Sveum are the ones I hope the Brewers target for manager in 2009.
  23. Ugggg why do you go inside on Burrell? Why? You just made a good pitch on the outside why go inside? Come on Suppan and Kendall if you are going to come inside at least throw another pitch on the outside before coming in.
  24. If we win today Hart needs to be benched. He is doing nothing but hurting the team. Put Gwynn in RF and if need be use Hart as a defensive replacement in the late innings if you are playing Nelson in RF. How many times do I have to see Hart swing at the first pitch and ground out before something is done about it?
  25. I was listening to the game on the radio coming home from Green Bay and I was surprised by the amount of cheers when Gagne was introduced in the beginning of the game.
