  1. I support signing Walker to 2/$16 or even 2/$17, same as Lucroy. Having both Walker and Lucroy would be upgrades in the offense.
  2. I support signing Lucroy to 2/$16 or even 2/$17.
  3. I'm also very uncomfortable in giving Cobb a four year deal, it's too risky. And 4/60 is way too expensive, it's even more expensive than Garza's contract. I think Stearns is waiting for the price and years to fall to a level that he's comfortable with.
  4. I really think the Brewers are very serious about moving Braun to 1B, he will see plenty of action at 1B in spring training. Having Yelich over Braun at LF should be a big defensive improvement at that position. According to one of HH's post several weeks ago, the Brewers have put Thames available in the trade market.
  5. Last year our offense was a bigger problem than our pitching, Stearns solution was the addition of Yelich and Cain. The bullpen is pretty good, I think Stearns focus now is on improving the starting pitching. It's still 6 weeks away till season starts, let's wait and see what's Stearns solution is for SP.
  6. If Miley pitches well in spring training, I think he will probably be a SP in AAA colorado springs and serve as pitching depth in case of injuries.
  7. I just noticed that Lucroy is about 2 years younger than Vogt.
  8. I wouldn't mind giving Lucroy 2/17, he's a way better option than Vogt. It's better to have two no.1 catchers on the team as it's a long season and they can play alternate games to keep both catchers fresh. Maybe returning to the familiar environment of Miller Park and the Brewers is what Lucroy need to rediscover his form that made him an all-star.
  9. I'm under the impression that none of the remaining top SP's are going to take a contract less than 4/80. In that case, would you feel better about signing Arrietta at 4/100, or Cobb at 4/80? I think Arrietta is the safer bet at at $5 mil more a year Cobb at 4/80 and Arrietta at 4/100 is too expensive. I wouldn't mind signing Arrietta to a 4 year deal but doubt he will accept it, from what I read he and Boras wants a 5-6 year deal.
  10. If Cobb is a lot cheaper than Arrieta, I'd prefer to sign Cobb. Another positive is that Cobb is 1.5 years younger.
  11. If Cobb is a lot cheaper than Arrieta, I'd prefer to sign Cobb. But I'd stay far away from Lynn, his BB rate is a lot higher than Cobb and after the Suppan experience I don't want to sign another high-priced ex-Cards SP.
  12. Yes, Bellinger was really good last year, ROY like Braun. But he hit poorly in the postseason though. Besides playing LF, having Braun as backup 1B will be useful for the Dodgers, and insurance if Bellinger has a sophomore slump.
  13. Braun said he's willing to play 1B and I think the Dodgers have the intention of switching Braun to 1B. Braun at 1B will be a big improvement for the Dodgers offensively at that position, plus they want to get rid of Kemp. So I can see why the Dodgers would be keen to trade Kemp for Braun. But the Brewers have absolutely no use for Kemp and his very expensive contract. The Brewers should demand for good pitchers and money to offset a big chunk of Kemp's salary in return. If Dodgers refuse than so be it and move on, I much rather have Braun than Kemp.
  14. Sounds like prices are crashing even for the Boras clients. Stearns doing the right thing by waiting out for bargain buys opportunities in pitching.
  15. My take is that the Dodgers absolutely wants to get rid of Kemp and they initiated talks with the Brewers for Braun. No harm in talking with the Dodgers, Stearns is probably trying to get a SP in return. Who knows, maybe there might be an opportunity to "fleece" the Dodgers depending on how desperate they are on getting rid of Kemp.
  16. Does it get frustrating that Asian players seem to prefer only certain markets? Yes it is, but I think if the Brewers win a WS will change the view of the top Asian players on our team. Well, at least my 20+ years as a Brewers fan so far there was Nomo, Ohka and Aoki.
  17. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/02/jake-arrieta-turned-down-six-year-offer-from-cubs.html If Arrieta took the Cubs offer, Darvish will likely be a Brewer instead.
  18. Being Asian, frankly I'm disappointed that Darvish chose not to sign with the Brewers.
  19. Yes. The price of good starting pitching via trade or FA is very expensive, a small market team like the Brewers can't afford to trade away their TOP pitching prospects. We should develop them into the big league club, guys like Woodruff and Burnes have the potential to be solid SPs. If Woodruff starts the season with the big league club, maybe CC should pull him early like the 5th inning of his starts and let the bullpen handle the rest of the game. Letting Woodruff only pitch through the opposing lineup twice, could increase his effectiveness. The Brewers should have an 8 man bullpen.
  20. I think the longer this drags, the price will go down for these free agent SPs. I'm fine with waiting and letting the price drop.
  21. Zeller looks like an upgrade over Thon, we definitely need an upgrade at center especially in rebounding and defending the paint.
  22. Voted Yes, prefer not to watch the pitcher hit and run the bases. Jimmy Nelson's injury could've been avoided with the DH, and we may have made it to the playoffs if he didn't get injured.
  23. Players with huge contracts are taking up too much of the payroll away from the other players. I don't think there's collusion but rather a very uneven distribution of pay amongst players. The lower tier FAs are greatly affected by the top tier. Maybe there should be a salary cap for improved distribution of pay amongst players.
  24. So far Burnes is better than Archer in the minors, what if he turns out to be better than Archer in a few years? He will be cheaper and younger than Archer, and the Brewers control him for more years. A small market team like the Brewers has to keep their TOP pitching prospects and develop them into the big leagues, like what they did with Nelson.
