  1. I respect and trust what he said, and there's no reason not to believe as it made sense for the Brewers to make that offer to Walker at that time. Anyway, personally I would still make that offer of 2/$20 to Walker now, I've absolutely no confidence in Villar bouncing back to his 2016 numbers or even close to it.
  2. Did anyone confirm that they actually did this? The 2/$20M offer was mentioned by KCBrewerfan34 here viewtopic.php?p=1087912#p1087912 viewtopic.php?p=1088041#p1088041
  3. Wow, Walker must now be regretting not accepting the 2/$20M offer by the Brewers at the end of season last year.
  4. Suter having a great spring training so far, I suspect Counsell will pick him for the rotation if he keeps this up the rest of ST. Read that Perez wants to be the starting 2B, at the rate he's been hitting in ST, why not let him start 2B and have Sogard and Villar on the bench.
  5. I'd be glad to have Lucroy back on 1 or 2 years contract to replace Vogt.
  6. Hiura with a nice game today, he looks like a very good contact hitter with high batting average and OBP.
  7. If he continues to hit great, wonder if Choi can pull an Aguilar and hit his way into the team. He'd be replacing Aguliar's spot in the team. Choi played a lot of LF as well as 1B, he provides more positional flexibility than Aguilar.
  8. Nice debut by the Korean Ji-Man Choi, 2 hits one homer 2 rbis.
  9. If Burnes pitched better than the other contenders (Guerra/Yo/Suter/Woodruff) throughout spring training, he should definitely earned a spot in the rotation. I think he can and really hope he does, as I'm very high on him. I think it's a terrible idea to send Burnes to Colorado Springs.
  10. Hiura with a nice debut, 2 hits and a walk. Burnes with a nice debut too. Santana with 2 doubles and a walk. I want the Brewers to keep Santana, because trading him could really hurt our offense.
  11. Is Hiura the first ever Brewers top prospect of Asian descent? I think so. His full name is Keston Wee Hing Natsuo Hiura, he has Chinese and Japanese middle names as well as a Japanese last name, looks like his father is Japanese and his mother is Chinese.
  12. One poster mentioned that the Brewers had offered Walker 2/$20M, I hope he accepts that offer soon.
  13. Hopefully 2 guys in this group of Guerra/Yo/Suter/Woodruff pitch great in ST and deserve spots in the rotation, then we may not need to get another SP. Patience is a virtue, could be better to see how this group performs in ST first. Listening to his interview, seems like Stearns is looking a SP that is "significantly better" than what we have, I take that to mean he's looking for a TOR type pitcher. The Brewers offense should be an improvement from last season with the addition of Cain and Yelich.
  14. I much prefer to follow the analytical evaluation than the crap “prestige” evaluation by Boras. "Prestige" is useless if he can't pitch like an ace. Boras, please be informed that "prestige" don't win championships, teams should only be paying $100M if they think he can pitch like an ace in most of the duration of the contract. After reading the article, I think the Brewers should not offer Arrieta a $100M contract, the most I'd offer is 4/80. I've always been curious if you won't do 5/100mil (20mil aav) Then why do 20mil AAV and offer 1 year less? I feel like you are telling the player you will pay him 20mil per year and he's worth that. So to the Player why not hold out for the 5th year? All it takes is 1 to go that 5th year. If I were saying no to his 5/100 ask, I'd drop my offer to 4/74mil. 19/19/18/18. We're not paying you 20mil a year for even 4 years. So why would we do 5? You want a 5 year contract with an opt out after 2? 20/20- 17/15/15. You may want to accept that deal, while I'm still even giving you that option. I should've put $100M+ in my earlier post. From what I read, Boras is looking for a $125M contract which is $25M AAV for 5 years, but my highest offer is 4/$80M - 25/25/15/15 with player opt outs after the second and third year. I'd much prefer less years though, 2 year deal is the best - 2/$50M. If not, 3 years 3/$65M - 25/25/15 with a player opt-out after the second year.
  15. Wow, I didn't know that, that is a very big offer by the Brewers. If the Brewers are unable to sign Walker, I'd probably do the trade of Broxton for Lowrie as one poster has suggested.

  17. It would also say there isn't much of a market for Arietta. Agree, there's not much of a market for Arietta. I think the few possibly interested teams only want short term deals. So the Brewers are in a great negotiating position, I hope Stearns can negoitate a 2 or 3 year deal at 20M AAV.
  18. Boras going over GM Stearns to talk directly to the owner Mark A, probably means that Stearns is a very tough negotiator. That makes me much more confident with Stearns ability to negotiate contracts with agents to get the best deals for the Brewers.
  19. I wouldn't mind trading Broxton for Lowrie straight up, I'd do this trade. In a world where teams are reducing payroll, removing Lowrie's $6M salary would probably make it a fair deal.
  20. I think Villar will still be awful again this year, Stearns please go get Walker back.
  21. I'd probably offer Arrieta this: 2018 - 25M 2019 - 25M (Player option) 2020 - 15M (Player option) 2021 - 15M Total: 4/80M Personally, I think Arrieta will out-perform Cobb for the next 2 seasons and that's why I prefer Arrieta.
  22. Teams are getting smarter and tougher in dealing with Boras. Boras unable to get teams to overpay despite his delaying tactic and his other negotiating tactics like playing hardball and getting a bidding war etc. Looks like teams can play hardball against Boras and win too.
  23. The more I think about it, the more I prefer to sign Arrieta over Cobb. Should be interesting watching Arrieta pitch against the Cubs for the Brewers. For a pitcher, Arrieta is no slouch with the bat.
  24. There was a big regression in his stats last year and his velocity has dipped. Arrieta may no longer be a TOR pitcher based on last year's stats, that's probably why the Cubs didn't want to sign him to a big contract. It may be too risky to give him a 4 year deal, think the most I'd offer him is 3/$60. If Arrieta really wants to stick it to the Cubs, the Brewers is the place to be for him.
  25. Santana would look great for the Rays right now.
