  1. A lot of people absolutely hated that trade. Lot of time to see what comes of Peralta, but goes to show...in baseball, judging trades involving prospects is a fool’s errand until years later.
  2. I have no problem with instant replay. I have a huge problem with scrutinizing every insignificant close play all year long. Take a look at 2-3 slow mo replays. If you can’t obviously tell the call was wrong, leave it alone and move on. You wouldn’t even need to stop the game, have some guy in NY watch the replays and stop the game when needed. And if you want to painstakingly review close calls in the playoffs...fine. I’m not for it, but I’d get it. But to review a bang-bang play at first in the 4th inning of a game in May is a waste of time and excitement while not changing who wins the World Series, much less almost never impacting who actually wins any given game. And we do it over and over all season long.
  3. It’s easy to feel this way in the 4th inning of a game in early May. Would not be so easy in the 9th inning of a tie playoff game that cost the Brewers a trip to the World Series. And thus the story of the existence of instant replay. A bad call happens in a playoff game to the Yankees, therefore we must suck the excitement out of all games in case it might happen again 130 games from now.
  4. I hope you’re right, because there is no other good explanation. And even if this is true, batting him 6th is a joke.
  5. Just saying, I guarantee they’ve told Arcia over and over to swing at strikes. When Arcia gets behind in the count routinely by swinging at balls in the opposite batters box, there is only one person to blame for that.
  6. Hitting coach has to be the most thankless job in sports (and perhaps the most useless...). You know every hitting coach in baseball, Coles included, tells the players “be patient, swing at strikes.” Not his fault Arcia doesn’t listen. Or Santana. Or Perez.
  7. Suggestion to post a quick snippet of what game/event you are posting the gif about. Will make it easier to understand for those not checking in daily, and make it all the more fun to look back on as the season rolls on.
  8. At least making Syndergaard throw a lot of pitches here
  9. You could take comfort in that if it were true. He, and every other professional athlete, took PEDs to be better at sports. The injury recovery excuse is bull and there isn’t scientific evidence to support it.
  10. If it takes 20 looks at the replay, is it not, by definition, NOT indisputable video evidence?
  11. Exactly. Yes, the Cubs have a strong fanbase. But they aren't at Miller Park in droves because of the quality of their fanhood, no matter how much they want to drunkenly yell at you about it. There are lots of Cubs fans at Miller Park because Chicago has 5-6 times the population of Milwaukee, and it's really easy for them to get here. That's it. If there were 10 million people in Milwaukee and 1.5 in Chicago it would be the other way around. It has nothing to do with bad Brewers fans or great Cubs fans. We are just unlucky to be situated so close to millions of blowhards.
  12. This is why Uecker is still here. I love BA and his call was great as well, but when something big happens I'm always on the lookout for Uecker's call first. I'll look past his issues for every last sound bite we can squeeze out of him.
  13. Fully agree, and remain amazed more players that get huge shifts aren't working more on laying down bunts or just slapping the ball the other way. Those shifts will go away pretty quickly when the player is batting .750 while racking up doubles for little dribblers down the line.
  14. +1 Was at a game in SF a couple years ago and they boo'd Braun. When we pointed out that Barry Bonds guy, most fan gave us the same response as above. And not defiantly so, just laughed it off acknowledging their hypocrisy, because sports. Personally, I don't particularly like Braun. But I do really love when he hits game winning dingers, and will keep rooting for him to do so.
  15. I’d be surprised if the average Joe Padre fan remembers all the drama that followed Braun’s suspension, much less enough of a contingent to boo audibly across the stadium. I figure they just think of him as a steroid user and boo for that reason, which is why it confuses me when so many others have done the exact same. But perhaps I’m not giving opposing fans enough credit.
  16. Testosterone is a steroid Are you sure about that? Yes
  17. Testosterone is a steroid
  18. This came to mind after Braun gloriously shut up all the hecklers in San Diego on Friday Ok, besides the obvious, why does he continue to get such grief? Yes, Ryan Braun got busted for steroids. But here we are 6-7 years later, and he still gets loudly booed at EVERY MLB park he visits. He is far from the only player that has been suspended for steroids, including multiple all-stars past and present. Has anyone heard boos for Dee Gordon, Nelson Cruz, Ervin Santana, Jhonny Peralta, Edinson Volquez? How about universally-loved Bartolo Colon? My personal favorite was Pirates fans booing Braun mercilessly just a half inning before a standing ovation for Starling Marte's return from his steroid suspension. Is it just because he won an MVP that year? And is still pretty good? Or because he comes off as cocky? I've heard the argument about his vehement denial and throwing the delivery guy under the bus, and frankly that is the one thing that does bother me still. But if you asked a booing Padre fan this weekend why he was booing, I'm pretty sure he would simply say "steroids," and probably wouldn't even know the rest of the story. Plus he's a Brewer, it's not like he's a big market villain. How much do these opposing fans hear about the Brewers anyway? I get why he is booed, just not why it's so much more than the long list of other guys who did the same thing.
  19. Makes me glad to have you guys to talk to during the game. Agreed, and a tip of the cap to the mods for their work keeping the in-game threads a great place to chat about the game
  20. Days like today make me really appreciate BA and Rock. I know these guys are being impartial and all, but man...yawn.
