  1. Agreed. Yesterday’s game against the Cubs made it look like the Brewers broke them. I’d rather see a lineup of their AAA guys out there with something to prove, because right now Carpenter, Martinez, Yadi, Wong and Gyorko (my god Gyorko...) all look defeated.
  2. So since the Brewers clinched, the Cubs have added 3 wins to their record
  3. I really hope anyone who complains about BA/Rock is listening to this Cardinals broadcast...my god
  4. Spit one into the face of the wind and into the bleachers Yadi
  5. So can we count on the Tigers putting in as much effort as the Pirates and Cardinals?
  6. Still fishy. An injury where you tell none of the media and the player can’t even sit in the bullpen? Hopefully Counsell was just playing it close to the vest against the Cards so they thought he’d be available? I dunno, but hope that is that.
  7. Josh Kusnick retweeted a normal Jeremy Jeffress video 6 hours ago, so I doubt anything was afoot then. He probably just has a stomach bug. If that we’re the case...wouldn’t they just tell us that? Rock and BA and all the rest being in the dark over a stomach bug? I’m very concerned...hope I’m wrong
  8. Sac flies do not count as ABs. Except if you're calulating OBP. So if a guy comes to the plate 4 times in a day, hits 2 sac flies, strikes out once and gets a single, he has a .500 batting average and .250 OBP. They're a weird one like that. A sacrifice is like a walk. Doesn’t count as an AB, but does count as a plate appearance.
  9. I’m usually in the loge level. It’s not always direct trash talking (though it isn’t at all uncommon...). It’s also constant chatter about how great their fans are, how pathetic Brewers fans are in their own home park, the booing of Ryan Braun as loudly as possible, the screaming of “CUBBIES” during the 7th inning stretch as loud as possible. The Cubs fans are energized by the overtake of the park and so get even louder than they normally would because they want Brewers fans to know it, directly or indirectly. Maybe I’m just overly sensitive, and I don’t always blame them entirely. I’d probably have fun overtaking another team’s stadium too. But I just can’t stand it. So I don’t go.
  10. I know a lot of people sell their Cubs tickets to fund the rest of their season ticket package, and I don’t begrudge them that. But there are a lot of fans, myself included, who simply refuse to go at this point because being a Brewers fan at a home game against the Cubs is an awful, awful experience. It’s not just being drowned out by road team fans. It’s the loud arrogant trash-talking Cubs crowd that is always there, yelling at any Brewers fan they can find more than they actually root on their own team. Every freaking game. And I apologize to those that are offended by it and think I’m part of the problem, but I’m not going to sit through 3 hours of that multiple times a year for the sake of proving my fanhood. I’m a season seat holder (20-game), and I don’t sell Cubs tickets. I could, but I don’t. I just don’t buy them, because why would I? I watch sports for fun, and these games are anything but.
  11. There was one right after we lost the NLCS. No holds-barred, swear all you want about Pujols, Mark Kotsay, Ron Roenicke, you name it. And man was it glorious, in large part because it was so anti-BrewerFan in the most perfect way at the perfect time. Again, thanks mods for all you do.
  12. Listening to talk radio this week...I wish I had the sunny disposition of Tim Allen, chastising any Brewers fan that isn’t enjoying this because we are in a pennant race so this must be fun. This is why I’m not enjoying this Tim. This is why.
  13. Who would catch the ball after the pitcher throws the ball? Also you would just be allowing the runner to steal home or any base for that matter if there is no one to catch the ball. As has been mentioned above by Topper09er, there is a rule that you must have a catcher. So all moot points.
  14. Two more, free agent after 2020 season If this is true, even better! Also make Schoop great trade bait if Hiura comes quick. I think it's true...Baseball-Reference has him as "Earliest Free Agent: 2020." I believe that means after the 2020 season, but can someone clarify that? Edit: My mistake, I believe that means BEFORE the 2020 season. (For example, Manny Machado is listed as "Earliest Free Agent: 2019). So, it appears we in fact have him for 1.5 seasons.
  15. One more year of arbitration next year. Two more, free agent after 2020 season
  16. I actually kind of like this. Shaw has been awful against LHP, Schoop has 2.5 years of control, has a BABIP of .262 this year (suggesting some bad luck) and was a stud last year. Suddenly our lineup against LHP (cough, Cubs) improves, and if he can play any SS the lineup as a whole improves. And tons of roster flexibility to make moves in the offseason.
  17. Moustakas will add some runs offensively in a handful of games. Shaw will certainly cost some runs defensively, time will tell how much and how frequently. I think it is a legitimate question to ask, would the Brewers actually win more games this year with or without Moustakas? Would be interested to see if there’s a stat out there at the end of the year that can shine some light on this
  18. Apparently the Brewers analytics say that defense isn’t that important...
  19. Aguilar has to be hurt, otherwise this makes zero sense. Man, half our lineup every day is just garbage...
  20. I know I’ll be accused of hindsight, but Anderson was such a clear sell-high guy to me this past offseason. I know Brewers fans would’ve had a meltdown, but the guy has been a #4/5 starter for all but a few months in 2017. Anyone thinking he’s a centerpiece to a contending rotation is kidding themselves imo.
  21. Isn’t Saladino supposed to be good at defense? Because he is not
  22. Wait, so are we giving Doug Melvin credit for Zach Greinke here? Because he was an offseason trade, therefore not decisive...right?
  23. Jean Segura, last two seasons with Brewers: 1141 PA | 65 wRC+ (116th of 117 qualifiers). WAR: 0.2 (112th of 117 qualifiers). Scooter Gennett, last two seasons with Brewers: 933 PA | 86 wRC+ (149th of 164 players with at least 900 PA). WAR: 0.4 (156th of 164 players with at least 900 PA). It's difficult to sell incredibly low on players who had no value by virtue of their own measurably terrible performance. Can we pin this to the top of the board? Yes, it sucks that we let two all-stars go. But at the time of their departures, they had large sample sizes of being bad major league baseball players. Hindsight is 20/20.
  24. Can’t take out a closer in the 9th, pretty sure it’s against the rules.
  25. Loved that Aguilar got in, but JJ getting in makes me even happier. He 100% has earned it and deserves it, but he is also my favorite Brewer to root for - now, and possibly ever. As you grow up, you inevitably end up realizing some (certainly not all) of those superstar athletes you once idolized maybe aren't the greatest guys in the world. So over time I've grown to appreciate those athletes that are easy to root for both on and off the field. JJ is certainly one of them. His passion on the field, perseverance off the field, and mutual love between him and the city of Milwaukee is so much fun to see. Oh, and I also like how he dominates opposing batters. I hope he spends the rest of his career with us, and whether or not he sticks around town after baseball I hope he considers himself a Milwaukeean, because we certainly do. Congrats Jeremy!
