  1. Once you have some brilliantly sautéed baby portabelllo mushrooms, you might come around.
  2. Off topic, but related to Hawing's comment. I was raised Protestant. When ever I saw a sign for pedestrian crossing, I thought it was just for my church - probably until I was about 10 years old. As far as food goes - who knew tomatoes and mushrooms are actually delicious?
  3. Since the Brewers are down to a .1% chance of making the playoffs, I'm shifting my thoughts from playoff deposits to Spring Training travel. Anyone plan on going down to Phoenix this year? SgtClueLs and I will be there March 7-13. We got a pretty sweet deal on a house in Tempe for the week. Just waiting for Southwest to announce it's fairs from Milwaukee so we can comparison shop. We're excited to go early during training so we can have better chances at getting autographs.

  5. The bobble is really nice. Better quality than probably all of the Brewers bobbleheads I've gotten. colbyjack, the 2010 schedule is online already.
  6. I'm gonna think cash flow isn't the issue - all the proceeds go to charity.
  7. We'll be there....leaving MKE around 2 as well.
  8. www.whitehouse.gov had some pretty sweet animated gifs in 2000.
  9. Check out mlb.com prior to 2001. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. should we start another "natural and/or local food" thread since we're getting so off topic on this one?
  11. I love the clearance rack in the terrace level store. We've gotten replica jerseys, sweatpants, and quite a lot of t-shirts up there...all for more than 50% off.
  12. You can always go back to .
  13. What kind of stuff do you buy at Outpost? We live near one, and I've been considering a membership - just don't know what's worth it to buy there (so far I've discovered that Brown Cow yogurt is cheaper than other stores).
  14. Growing Power offers market baskets all year round. We got one in spring (April maybe?) and it was filled with off-season fruits and vegetables that appeared to be shipped in from all over. An orange in a WI market basket, really? Now, after taking some time to understand growing seasons and produce and whatnot, I understand that it was silly to try to buy a market basket that time of year - I honestly don't know why it was even offered as an option if there was hardly any local produce to distribute. Sgtcluels and I have been looking into getting a CSA share for next year - it's just that you have to pay for most or all of it up front, and that can be a lot of cash to come up with in the winter for groceries you'll get in the summer/fall. We'll see though.
  15. A coworker of mine used to work at a milk processing plant. He said that the age of the milk determines how it gets used. I guess the oldest/lowest quality milk tends to end up in the "single serving" milk chugs.
  16. I used to be the queen of getting by on cheap food from stores like Giant (when I lived out East) and Pick N Save. The problem is, the foods that are really cheap are the ones that are ridiculously processed and not remotely good for you. That being said, obsessedwithbrewcrew's advice is right on - you need to clip coupons, use coupons on sale items on double-coupon days, and stock up on stuff that's on sale instead of buying a little every week. But maybe, someday, you might want to think about what makes that food so cheap: Getting Real About The High Price of Cheap Food Or read "Omnivore's Dilemma" by Michael Pollan.
  17. I know sgt wants a set - but last year the Journal Sentinel put the full sets up for sale around the holidays. We're going to be on that happening again so we don't have to keep running out to get the magnets, and finding the coupons in the paper.
  18. That stand also sells slushies http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I overheard some concession stand workers that were opening up a stand one day say that if someone asked for a dollar hot dog they were supposed to give it to them - so it might be worth a try. This wasn't at the kid's stand, but it was on terrace level.
  19. I just saw that before I came to the forum, hawing. No sense in typing out my list now.
  20. I don't think a usage fee is fair at all. The brewers has a fan base that contributes to the team through merchandise sales, television revenues, etc. Many of these fans rarely, if ever, make it to a game. We have some of the highest rated televised games in the country, especially when you consider our market size. For some reason I'm having trouble forming a logical argument right now, but I think a tax is much more fair than a user fee for a sport that gets income from sources other than in-person fans. Yes, I think the tax should end when it originally was meant to, but after that it's up to the team to figure out how to make more money, not legislators. I am no expert, and fully expect my argument to be ripped apart.
  21. For those of you that have the Terrace Ticket Treat package, I spoke with my ticket rep last weekend and he seemed fairly certain that the Brewers would be offering that package again. Yay!
  22. I don't want to rain on your parade, but unless you're going less than full-time, tuition at UWM is more than $4,485 per year. Tuition looks like it will be about $8,000 for the year.
  23. I sure hope Hawing was planning on going to tomorrow's game...because tonight's not a good night to be in Pittsburgh. (edit: happily, we are not in PIT Monday night. - hawing)
  24. I love Casey McGehee. Was he really offered the chance to pitch to Prince Fielder?
  25. cooking is yummy.
