  1. I quit reading right there, this is what happens when I add on to a topic I don't really care about. My buddy worked for the Oshkosh Northwestern, a little in FDL, Waupun and Hartford or Hartland I can never get them straight.. My only point was no matter how well you think you know the market their are other revenue streams out there. My buddy slid my name into the pitching lines a few tiimes. Whatever you guys know all;my point was that you can transition into different media streams if you are willing. Hal McCoy does not have to retire; he can not adapt. As far as how much my buddy makes at rivals that is 3 raises in in 4 years. They just don't give out that pay.
  2. Not exactly M2S. Davis fits both molds, as he was a Ranger before he was a Brewer. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I meant the statement as a general philosophy not about this one transaction as they have picked up Vargas, Weathers, and have been trying to re-acquire Davis for several weeks. I understand how you could be confused as people generally react first on this board to negate others comments before actually thinking through all of the transactions or scenarios that led to said comments. (edit: long row of "------------" caused scrolling --1992)
  3. So it appears as though we are done recycling old Rangers from the Melvin era and are now recycling old Brewers from the early Melvin era.

  9. The Crew: thanks for the new link if you try AVG off of the link 1992 Casey provided you have to subscribe to the deals that I was talking about. I will try this new one.
  10. The Crew: my point was that with AVG you need to take place in one of their special "offers" that requires a credit card for a limited time offer. I do not want to subscribe to anything nor put my credit card info on a computer that the security update ran out on a few days ago. I do not doubt it is a good program but I do not need free music downloads or a free tap dancing lesson.
  11. I need to download a new virus protection program and I do not want to pay for it. Does anyone have any suggestions for this? I tried a few on here and they all needed a credit card number for a limited offer solicitation. Thanks
  12. I have been thinking about the new influx of players for next year. Having Gamel, Escobar, and eariler in the season Cain, and potential starters for next season how could this team hope to contend. I do not see how 3 rookie starters will help this team unless they are G. Beckham. That is why I was hoping Gamel would get more seasoning this year to offset the other rookies.
  13. I agree with you that Lesner making 12 million a year seems high, but on the flipside it seems hard to believe that the UFC can bring in 100 and only pay out 400k x 12 or however many fights there are(400k is for the title fights so it would be less). My point is that it is hard to believe that they can bring in that type of money and only pay out 5% to the actual fighters. I will try to get some links tonight and post them tonight to validate that payout.
  14. No I am talking about Lesner, he came into the UFC and immediately got the big fights and was put on the fast track. He is a huge draw and headlined the biggest PPV UFC has ever put on. Some of these guys do get a % off PPV money. I do not remember the exact number but at 1.5 million PPV's purchased at roughly 50 bucks per that is 75 million in cash flow. Also bars and clubs that show the event have to pay about 500 to have it. Add in the merchandise and advertising they brought in and the take in could be near 100 million. I will find out how that 4 million was estimated later today and will edit, but it makes sense that the headliner of a major event like this would make much more than the disclosed amount of 400k.
  15. I heard from a very knowledgable MMA fan that Lesner's take would be about 4 mil total for the last fight. I do not know all of the totals but the basis of this was based off of the disclosed 400k which gets a heavy tax on it along with a locker room payout (which sounds to me like unmarked bills in a bag) and a % of the pay per view totals. Does anyone with more knowledge on this issue have thoughts on this?
  16. I have been living in Wisconsin my entire life but in my opinion this ideal of the Brewers is getting a little long in the tooth. I root for the crew every game and never root for another team. There is no way that any top player that the team could ever establish wouldn't entertain playing for the top 2 nationally recognized teams in the nation is pure nonsense. There is no way any of our players were in little league hoping that one day they would play for Milwaukee unless they are from this state. I love this team but we have to realize that even once we have people in this franchise sometimes the grass is greener for them in perception. We just saw Prince have his coming out party this week 2 years after he hit 50 home runs. We have to realize that even if a player loves the franchise we are still the A's. Twins, and Rays of the world. We can debate all we want about the validity of this (which I deeply believe in) but at the end of the day every player at the level of Prince wants to play for the best of the best. As a sidenote; after seeing the growth Prince has shown this year I would do all I could to keep him here as long as possible he is truely an elite hitter.
  17. Can anyone give an overview of the ESPN Insider article breaking down the participants in the Futures Game?
  18. I read tonight that Votto's dad passed away a few days before he was placed on the DL and the team made up the ear infection deal in order to cover it up. I did not dig any deeper into this but it would make sense for the team to tell him to take his time to come to grips with the situation and get back when he was ready. They have him under team control for 5 more years so this would make sense.
  19. This guy says he was at the tryout in Anaheim, I don't know if it is legit or not but I have a hard time seeing anyone hitting 38 out of 60 out of the park. Prince or Hamilton couldn't do that. http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/draft/?p=967 Look in the comments section. By Walla's own admission he hit 5 at Miller Park. I love the pick that is not my point, my point is the author himself admits to overindulgences in quotes before the draft. Either way I am happy to have a quality prospect on board who is looking forward to being in Milwaukee. I was at the anaheim workout. My brother was invited. A right handed hitter from arizona had 5 Hrs, the davidson kid had 4 and walla had 2. Come on…you need to have much better reporting than that. Did his agent pay you off or something?
  20. http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/tenn/sports/m-basebl/auto_action/2757328.jpeghttp://media.graytvinc.com/images/kentrail+davis+1.jpg http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/5750/angel001xk4.jpghttp://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/images/2006/08/14/8iQeoVjZ.jpg okay if Davis if fat Salome is fat, doesn't matter if the article was written over a year ago. Haha he may not be as built as Salome but he is a strong little guy I didn't mean to quote it about his weight. People were saying that the injuries he had 16 months ago were a hinderance on his production this year. I didn't think that people realized that when they were talking about the article. I doubt too many athletes get fat at UT with the trainers and equipment available.
  21. Davis was hurt this year - " A torn hamstring and a torn ligament in his left thumb have set back his development this season. Despite the injuries, he has gamely stayed in the lineup to help spark the Volunteers' 7-4 start. "I've been trying to battle through it all season long," Davis said. "My hand started bothering me, and then my hamstring. I've just been trying to gut it out and stay in the lineup." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just wanted to point out that the article was written in March of 08.
  22. I was reading vivaelbirdos after Braun left the game after getting HBP and they had this comment. If Pujols acted like Braun and not the professional he does, then other teams would have the right to mock us. It took about 3 seconds for me to remember Pujols standing in the box watching what he thought was a home run that didn't even make it to the track 20 minutes prior.
  23. Samardzija had a no trade clause put into his contract because he could have gone to the NFL and wanted to make sure he would be playing for the Cubs.
  24. Some nice Brewers love in this article http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/jon_heyman/05/20/trade.market/1.html • The Brewers suffered a blow when vastly improving infielder Rickie Weeks was lost for the year with a wrist injury suffered on a swing in St. Louis. But they aren't in such a terrible spot at second. They have the perennially clutch Craig Counsell plus Casey McGehee, a spring standout. Brewers GM Doug Melvin said he heard from the agent for Ray Durham, though he seems disinclined to go that route again. Plus, the Brewers will have top shortstop prospect Alcides Escobar play some second in the minors, just in case. • The callup of prospect Mat Gamel, 23, who homered Monday in St. Louis, potentially gives the Brewers yet another big-time hitter. Mike Cameron predicted great things for Gamel when I saw them this spring. • Ryan Braun is one terrific outfielder, no kidding. The move of Braun from third base to left field is one of the smartest things any team has done in years.
  25. I just want to get rid of these tickets without having to go to the stadium. I will break them up and sell for under face. Let me know.
