  1. I have 4 tix for tomorrow nights game. If anybody is interested let me know. Face is $25. I can split them up as well. Thanks Jon
  2. I want to see Manny go over to Japan for a season make like 4 billion yen and turn into a Matsui Godzilla like figure over there. After one great season hopefully he would just stay there so we don't have to hear about it anymore.
  3. I have to disagree with you on this one, that is basically saying if this was 3-4 years ago you would trade Prince, Braun. Weeks & Parra for Peavey. That sounds like a hefty price tag. Sure Peavy is under contract but near the end it gets to 16M per season which is a lot to give up when the crew drafted so heavy on pitching the last few seasons.
  4. That is what I thought as well until today. http://www.boston.com/spo..._improved_players/?page=4 this is via brewcrewball in the Ben Sheets and Yankees discussion. If they are incorrect I apologize, but I assume that 90% of us take what we read as gospel and the smallest margin of us actually read the collective bargaing agreement. Until today I would have agreed 100% with you, but now I have no idea how it works. According to this the Yankees can sign a total of 9 type A and B's. ESPN and the other networks never cover the draft pick allocation either because I doubt they know how it works either.
  5. Sorry if this has been asked before, I have not read through the whole thread. I have been wondering for a few days if Sheets will end up anywhere but with the Brewers next year. The only way I can see him going somewhere else is on a 2 year deal with team options for 2-3 more years. My reasoning for this is simple, coming off of an injury what team is going to give up a first or second rounder with 6 years of service available for a one year deal. Even at 2 years it is a stretch, the second rounder would be easier to give up but this would also put Sheets on one of the lower tier teams in the league which again would make it more advantageous for him to come back to the town he knows to prove himself again.
  6. Does anybody know where I can find a Wii Fit? I looked everyhwhere and they are even sold out online at Best Buy, Circuit City, K Mart. Wal Mart. Thanks
  7. They sell the game worns on brewers.com every year and donate the money to charity. Also you can buy the minor league jerseys throughout the year on the minor league websites.
  8. 3 sweet jerseys for sale on E-bay. If any of you are interested let me know I would rather sell them to someone on Brewerfan. 1. Sheets full uni, jersey, pants, hat from the game where the wore the Milwaukee Bears jerseys. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eB...geName=ADME:L:LCA:US:1123 2. Cirllo game worn jersey from 06 for the Cerveceros game http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eB...:IT&item=230312364337 3. Sheets game worn Sounds jersey from a rehab stint in Nashville. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eB...:IT&item=230312365326
  9. Or that could be a direct correlation to how he was mishandled by the staff. Tell me truthfully, How did you feel when he pitched a one hitter on opening day in 2007, or how did you feel every time he took the mound the first half of last season before CC went on his tear. I felt confident as heck that we had the best pitcher on the mound in most every if not every (don't know the matchups) occurance. CC to the Brewers is like dating Marissa Miller, no matter who you date next is never as good as what you had. I would wager that CC never goes on a run like that again in his career. He is capable and very well could do it again, but that was a special time and can not be expected to repeat.
  10. Thank you, Sheets is a stud and deserves to be treated as one. It sucked that he had the arm injury from being rode hard and put away wet from Yost but it doesn't discount his ability or effectiveness throughout most of last year. It isn't easy to get named the NL starter at the all-star break. While the injury really hurt the Brewers chances in the playoffs that can just as easily be on the training staff and bad management as this injury prone dialogue we always read about. In the here and now of the MLB we have an opportunity to sign a top flight pitcher that already one below league average deal to sign with us at a below market rate. We were all in love with CC and what he did to get us to the playoffs, but personally I would rather resign Ben at half the years and half the cost per year of CC.
  11. Actually it was stated that Melvin didn't even ask a question throughout the entire interview, and Jack Z conducted the interview while staring at his blackberry because it was the day before he was announced as the new GM for the Mariners. This was all noted on the JS a few days ago. Melvin knows Randolph well enough that an interview wasn't really even needed. This was all part of the MLB process.

  13. Here is a further breakdown on Type A and B signings from a few days ago. It looks as though there will be 45 free agents that fall into this category. So all teams should be able to sign up to 3 type A or B players assuming that 39 of these players make it to the free market and decline arby. http://www.mlbtraderumors...-agent-quot.html#comments
  14. Seeing as how the debates were today lets make a list....... Escobar Hardy speed x ops x homers x defense x range x power x cost x eye x value x attention from ladies x trade value x I can add more if needed my point is simple and I don't want to debate it. Escobar is a slick fielding base stealer, JJ is a player who hits for value some years. I do not want to negate his value at all but people keep on asking what Escobar is worth (my guess the value of jj x6 years @ an average of 10m per yer) or otherwise known as 6 years of Gagne at last years salary. linkage http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?t=15045 I do not want to hear the AAA replies becasue that was an organizational decision to keep all of the studs @ AA. Also the LaPorta can go to rest for better or worse because there was a reason the team felt he was expendable while everyone else was not. They have been right before. Again I would not trade JJ for peanuts but it is a buyers market and someone has to be sold. In years past we would be washing socks for a prospect like Escobar, the team catches a break an all of a sudden we feel entitled like the Red Sox. A gold glove caliber SS doesn't come around to often no matter who is in front of him. Just to further my ideals, I have recently agreed upon the idea of Escobar platooning at 2nd for a year ala Reyes. No knock on Hardy but I think his value is higher tan Orince right now.
  15. That trade idea was just speculation from the guy that writes mlbtraderumors, not a real deal that had a link to it. http://www.mlbtraderumors...e-could-pri.html#comments He speculated on a bunch of places that Prince could go and if you read through all of the comments a lot of the posters think the crew are going to make this trade with the A's to get a bunch of B,C level prospects along with Eveland because I don't think any of them realize we traded him away to begin with. It is pretty funny reading as most of the posters don't think that Prince is worth anything near Hughes, Cain, Greinke. This is my favorite quote "If he is traded to the Giants it will be for John Sanchez and others. Not Matt Cain. I think I will believe Peter Gammons over anyone else, and he said that it was Cain for Fielder, Hardy and a MNR LGR. Meaning that if the Giants trade Sanchez and others, they should be able to get Fielder. If he doesn't go to the jints then he won't be traded."
  16. LaPorta was the 7th pick in the draft by the crew but that very morning he was slotted at the 28th pick to go to the Yankees I believe. And players play above their slot, saying Brantley was a 7th round pick is like saying Tony Romo was an unsigned free agent. Once they are taken they are gone. In my opinion the Brewers target one first rounder every year whether it is deemed a reach or not and stick to their guns. Braun @ 5 ahead of Maybin; 3 3B off the board by pick 5. The general media thought Prince was a reach at 7. From all reports I have seen and I am an insider but no account but Lawire was the consensus pick from this draft. I am not saying he was slotted #1 but he was on the board big time. It just seems to me that this team perceives value different than other teams and will "reach" to get the guy they want. This is why I want Jack Z in the clubhouse as long as possible his guys aren't usually the same guys the media are on.
  17. To Bill Brasky, ""Brasky once hosted the Grammys and gave every award to Corey Hart."Brasky once hosted the Grammys and gave every award to Corey Hart." "He did 3 tours in 'Nam...... I was in Corpus Christi on business a month ago. I had this eight foot tall Asian waiter, which made me curious. I asked him his name. Sure enough it's Ho Tran Brasky!" He's a ten foot tall beastman who showers in vodka and feeds his baby shrimp scampi." http://www.imeem.com/thevylmunkey420/video/zy2nST5T/
  18. Fair enough; I did not state that he should make the team out of spring training I just said he has a shot. I agree that he shouldn't be there and a path like Kershaw isn't out of the realm, but I also do not feel that he lost a lot of innings with that suspension this spring. If he would have pitched since the start of camp there probably would have been a less of a chance of him seeing AA or going to the AFL this year to face stiffer competition. Again I just feel that talent outweighs everything else, when Braun got called up it was because of a lack of talent because of the Koskie injury. As of right now the crew is going to be a little light in the pitching department, my point was may the best man win. Jeffress has the goods I hope they don't rush him but look at what Johnny Cueto did to start the season. Again I am not endorsing him to start the season on the club, but many have agreed that he could see some time in the bigs next year and if he is one of the 12 best pitchers in the system than he should see some time. It is not out of the realm of reality for a pitcher of his caliber to prove in spring training, a fast pace in the beginning of a season, or an injury, to cause an extreme talent to get called up. I just think that this puts him on a faster track to the big league team. May, June, July, August that is all debatle and really has no merits because we cannot see that far into a crystal ball nor do we no what kind of a starting rotation we will have but most can agree he has the talent to be in there somewhere.
  19. Plus one on the dane in madison. We were going for breakfast one sunday morning deciding where we were going to go. I stated to take me anywhere where I could get lasagna for breakfast and boom it was on the brunch buffet. loved it.
  20. Mama Mia's lunch buffet is great, as far as burgers go we ate at Sobelmans (19th & St. Paul) a few weeks ago and there were great (they even use the round bacon) http://www.milwaukeesbestburgers.com//. For mexican I love botanas (http://www.botanasrestaurant.com/) great food and atmosphere with a cheap lunch menu. Other than that for the milwaukee area I like benno's on 76th and greenfield they have a great fish fry. Wingers in Oshkosh used to have massive wings and the gyros across the street at Niko's were always knockout but that was a few years ago.
  21. I am probably wrong it happens a lot but in my opinion Jeffress has a shot at making the big league squad out of camp next year. I believe that one of Prince & Hardy will be traded and that will bring a pitcher into the fold but still leave a door open for one more hypothecital spot.. I believe that his call up to AA was two fold. First to save room for the AFL and to see how he handles better competition and to get him ready sooner rather than later. I am not saying he will make the team out of camp but there are some talents that you cannot justify keeping in the minors and he is a super talent.
  22. I just wanted to follow up on what coach said as far as one reporter stating something and than everybody else running with it. I was out in North Carolina a few years ago hanging out with a buddy who works for rivals.com covering the heels. He was buddies with a bunch of the Baseball America guys as they are headquartered there. I asked these guys about all of the prospects in the Brewers system at the time and they could rattle off all of the scouting reports and seemed knowledgable about the players. So I asked how many of these guys they have ever seen play, the answer at best was a handful. Turns out that they don't really get travel budgets, I didn't ask about gas reimbursement. So even though they are a reporter for a premier website, they are getting second hand information like the rest of us a lot of times. I am not saying this is the case for all of the writers at Baseball America, but seeing as how they are the predominant source for the draft and the minor leagues I thought all of the writers would be all over the nation catching as many games as possible.
  23. Here is a take from bizarro world known as orioleshangout.com http://forum.orioleshangout.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64889 Some of the posters want LaPorta or Escobar in to make it a fair trade. I know everyone overvalues their own prospects but wow.
  24. If you don't like the feedback on this board for what is a stellar draft in my opinion check out jsonline.com where people can't figure out why everybody is undersized even though Jack Z. was quoted as saying that Lawrie is built like Kapler.
