  1. I met him when I was about 7-8 years old and got an autographed photo. He even let me wear his world series ring. I remember being so young and realizing this will probably be my only chance in my life to wear a ring like that.
  2. I wonder how different the views would be by some on this board if the quarter would have landed on heads instead of tails and they drafted Tulowitzki.
  3. These coulda, woulda, shoulda posts are great in retrospect but they don't mean anything. You can go down a list and look at it but without knowing the true possibilities they are pointless. This same post is made every year or so on this board. For starters the Brewers drafted Nomar in the 5th round in 2001 and failed to sign him. Why would they draft him again? Jenkins while not an all time great anchored the team through several bleak years and was an all-star. If you could get that kind of production out of every first rounder you would be a great GM. The funny thing is Braun was the third 3rd baseman taken at the fifth pick, and Fielder was a reach as well. Weeks was the consensus at #2. Rogers went exactly where he was slotted. It's hard to knock the Covey pick considering he had an illness that even he didn't know about. The main thing that most people miss is that the Brewers were set up to secure the franchise one if not two blue chippers in the 2011 draft. They were set on Baez and Lindor, planned on getting one of them, dreamed of getting both of them. Unfortunately both of those guys had a lot of helium in the week leading up to the draft and they got neither of them. In turn they got two pitchers who were safer picks who fell. Also Corey Hart was an 11th round pick. So every fan on every team could make a post about their 10th round selection in 2000 and how they missed out on a 2 time all star. I didn't look up the stats but I think Coulter only had 41 AB's his senior year. That is as much of a risk pick as Rogers and could be a huge win where he was picked.
  4. According to this article the Brewers wanted to scale back his playing time, but he is under contract and have no say over how he is used. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20121212&content_id=40629368&vkey=news_mil&c_id=mil
  5. I agree and it is not like 1570 breaks news, they just report it. The way they made it sound was as if Lucroy had conversations w/ Greinke recently since his struggles with the Angels. I didn't see it reported in the normal places and a radio station shouldn't be 6 weeks behind.
  6. I just heard on 1570 up in Appleton that it was reported Lucroy talked to Greinke and he misses Milwaukee and wishes he hadn't been traded. I missed most of the segment, but I caught that part and was wondering if anyone else heard it or had seen it reported it elsewhere.
  7. You want Fiers limited through next year . I'll make you a deal you get one post for every inning Fiers pitches until 2014. Done and done.
  8. You should wear your Olt Marlins jersey. or my 2013 Greinke Brewers jersey You could wear that on Sunday all you would have to do is Macgyver up some duct tape and add the 20 to the (Greinke) 13 on the back of your jersey and boom you have a 2013 jersey.
  9. I always love this argument. Yes, who cares about wins. We can't make the playoffs - or it's unlikely - so lets just completely give up. Sounds like something someone who never played competitive sports said. We all know the deal was to try and get a great showing out of Greinke and get him out of there. The Brewers actually have the 9th worst record in all of baseball (http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/reversestandings2012) it is obvious what to do at this point and it has been for about a while. Of course you don't root to lose but if they do finish with one of the ten worst records than they wouldn't lose a pick next year if they sign one of the new types A's (or whatever they are called now).
  10. If he has a HUD or a WHEDA loan than he must live on the property for the entire first year that he owns it before he sells it or rents it out. Do you have the better half of the duplex? He might just want to move into the better half right away instead of waiting until your lease is up. This does not seem to be the case though as he is not moving in until next May, so he is probably looking to renovate. If you have a locked in lease I wouldn't move unless I was greatly compensated. As far as I know those two loans are the only ones in WI that require the owner to take immediate occupancy so if he kicks you out and doesn't move in than he is committing fraud. The same thing is true with a standard owner occupied mortgage.
  11. After seeing these mental lapses the past few weeks by and quoting Nyjer "Aaaaaaaahhh gotta go".
  12. I'm just glad that none of the Brewers top picks are playing in the Super Regionals or the CWS in case they have a bad game and we have to hear about the one time I saw him play he was wildly inconsistent.
  13. How much do you want to bet that the Brewers will spend most or all of their bonus pool? Well I'm not entirely sure that they're being cheap, but considering that there were many better players left on the board earlier in the draft and that Roache, Coulter, Hannigan, and Taylor are likely to sign somewhere around or below slot, I'm wondering if the appeal of saving money had something to do with many of these picks. This is not intended at you, but when the owner signs off on a $100 million payroll the last thing I think of him being is cheap. Signability definitely comes into it but if the draft philosophy was to get Roache who will be out until fall leagues they could have wanted to get 2 bpa's that would get into the fold seeing as how the signing deadline got moved up. This way they have 2 guys they are very comfortable with who get half a season in this year. Also it is tough to say that Seid has a one track mind when it comes to the draft, last year if Lindor and Baez fall the Brewers are considered hitter heavy and not doing enough to develop pitching. I think they are going bpa but it was just a weird draft, from what I read their was about 40 guys that could go in the last ten picks 20-60 was all up in the air, so it really does come down to a personal preference and if all is equal you draft on a team need. Edit: this being the first year in the new CBA I think most teams did their due diligence and knew who they could sign in each round and had a map drawn up well ahead of time with their preferred picks. An article on Brewers.com was talking about how Greinke was at the draft and how boring it was because all of the legwork was done and they just pulled names off a board. Everything was done ahead of time, they knew who the wanted and they knew all of the prices associated with each player.
  14. Or when he says this pitcher has #1 or #2 upside worst case he is a 3-4
  15. With all of these pitchers sliding according to the guys on MLB I just hope they don't draft the next Arnett. Also no surprise the Nats nut up to get Giolito.
  16. I missed the article in the link reports. It is hard to read every thread every day. My point was specific to a poster asking about his k/9 and if we should be worried. I thought it fit well within the singular point.
  17. Milb.com did an article on Jungmann and it reinforces a lot of peoples thoughts on the way the Brewers are going about developing these young guys. http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120522&content_id=32000172&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb "I had a good feel for all three pitches," Jungmann said. "I've been working on my breaking ball the last three outings. It's totally different, a different grip. I used my pointer finger as my spin finger, so I got rid of that and moved to a more traditional grip. Today was the best I've thrown it." "The stats are nice, but that's not what I'm looking for," Jungmann said. "The progress on the breaking ball is what I'm looking for. I've been trying to throw it the past three weeks, it just hasn't been very good. Today was the first time in a game it really showed up." As for recording his first win in eight starts, the Texas native, said, "Well, that's not something I can worry about. It's about progressing every day, it's about getting the changeup and breaking ball going. Wins are nice, but it's about getting better every day."
  18. I was speaking specifically of Jungman and his k/rate not the 6-8 other guys you listed and I agree with not wasting pitches. I know you aren't impressed with Jungman and you stated dozens of times, but I was just stating for a guy with under ten professional starts (and jumped a level) there a lot of other things that would concern me more than his k/rate. As a whole I think it has been a trend in the organization to reduce pitch counts. Of course you go for the k on a pitcher friendly count.
  19. You can't have it both ways. I think it is fairly obvious that the franchise has chosen to pitch to contact at all levels. Jimmy Nelson is a prime example of this. I don't think that Jungmann needs to "blame" anything on anything this point in his career. This is still only his second month in pro ball and his job is to focus on specific things each start not to go out and blow away every hitter to max his k rate and bounce out of the game in the 4th innning. Some people on this site complain about the way that Yo doesn't get deep into games but he gets that deep k rate. I think a 1st year player that skipped a level and is putting up the numbers like Taylor is doing just fine.
  20. I understand the reaction and I agree w/ the Patterson comparison. I am not a Gomez homer, I was only thinking in relation to the long term CF situation if Gomez could actually bring it all together things would get interesting. He is what he is, but give me at least 2 weeks to be optimistic before I start railing on people. Edit: I am only saying that he has been making consistent hard contact. Not that I encourage swinging for the fences every pitch. I realize he needs to walk more but once one thing starts working other things can fall into place. If Gomez has a good season with Logan and Morgan around it would make the CF position very interesting coming into next season.
  21. I know most people are down on Gomez but what if this is the season he puts it all together. I have watched all but one aired game this season and he has been stinging the ball. To be fair I had he last season in fantasy when his first ab was a homer, but if he actually puts it all together that would make things very interesting.
  22. He's an autograph hound as Seinfeld would say "not that there's anything wrong with that". I only clicked on one link to find out your info. Saying "sold" is a questionable term, Bill Clinton did not have sexual relations with that woman. viewtopic.php?f=68&t=21390&p=580792&hilit=bobbledude#p580792 viewtopic.php?f=67&t=11893&p=324563&hilit=bobbledude#p324563 It is obvious you collect as many autos as you can to "trade" if not sell on this forum and you set up a paypal account (which you needed help to decipher) also on this forum so one can only infer this was to sell auto's. I really don't care but it didn't take more than 30 seconds to see other topics where you sell and trade all types of autos, but I already knew this from reading previous threads from the BOBBLEDUDE. My only point was that as soon you opined about that auto you got from a guy that rarely signs in a perfect spot while asking about his HOF prospects seemed more than just a simple yes/no.
  23. Bobbledude has 514 posts 214 of them are in the trading section, that equals 41.63% of all posts are in the area of trying to profit off of pieces that he acquired. Maybe his intentions are genuine but as soon as I read this post I thought he was asking a different question.
  24. Shouldn't this post really be titled "I'm a guy that collects autographs at any costs and I just got Michael Young's should I sell it now or do you think he could make the Hall of Fame and I could sell it for more?"
