  1. Actually - once - unless you count the 2005 knee surgery as TJ.Plenty of sore shoulders, elbows, and knees but only 1 TJ. From Wikipedia: During Spring Training of 1999, Wood underwent Tommy John surgery to repair damage to the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. He missed the entire season to rehab from the surgery.
  2. It wasn't necessarily a great or even good career (11 years) and you guys got him at the end of it. But that 2-18 mark he put up in 1996 would get him 7 mil today and his overall 87-108 would probably get him 10 mil.
  3. I know he's 1 of the admins, but do you have to refer to him as BRAIN.
  4. Yikes. Have you seen him lately? 7.36 ERA in June 11.37 ERA to date in July I think I'll pass. Just like to point out something for those of you that think Marmol is "used up" or whatever term you want to use. True - June's ERA in total was 7.36 - 13 Games - 11 IP - 9 ER But if you eliminate 2 appearances (and I know that in total you can't but if you think of them as anomolies...) June's numbers would be 11 games - 10 IP - 2 ER - 1.80 ERA Simililarly for July eliminate 2 of 8 appearances and 11.37 drops to 2.08 These oddities I'm eliminating occurred on June 2 and 19, July 2 and 12. What I'm saying here is that these are scattered meltdowns that happen to most relievers and that you guys shouldn't be so anxious to face him. Actually I think that his next melt down should be August 2. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. So do we. I think the Astros still think that what happened in 2004 and 2005 should happen every year. Those comebacks were once in a lifetime happenings and they managed to do it twice. They'd be better oiff trying to restock their farm system.
  6. You misunderstood Kasper. He was simply speculating because of Harden's durability. Marquis is already in the rotation. It would be Marshall that would be inserted according to the speculation. Also as far as last night, he was NEVER in trouble. I think we can all agree that 112 pitches when you are constantly working out of jams is a lot more burdensome. And even if we can't agree, I choose to believe it.
  7. Unfortunately for us you are right about Ward. His biggest attribute this year is drawing walks but then ya gotta have somebody run for him.
  8. Apparently you haven't been paying attention to my posts. BTW, do you really put any stock in anything said at a site called Hire Jim Essian???
  9. In regards to Harden, his only problem was that he went to 3 ball counts frequently. The D'back had exactly one (1) good swing on him and that left the yard. It was just one of those games. Our guys hit 2-3 395 foot flyballs to dead center, 2-3 gap line drives that Young ran down, and 2 balls that were caught just in front of the LF fence. Forget about it and move on.
  10. Excuse me, but since Fukudome has never played in the US previously, nobody knows where his head is, so how is he over it? Ramirez numbers in his 4 full years with the Cubs average .318, .302, .291, & .310 HR's 32, 30, 38, & 26 OPS .951, .926, .912, & .915 How exactly is pre-break numbers of .285, 17, & .901 playing over his head????
  11. Don't forget about Brant Brown!!! OH! NO! HAH! Even I can laugh at that one Now that you mention it, Brock for Broglio didn't work out so great either. But I like Bob Brenly.
  12. Tribe? Maybe the headline writer thinks the Braves are still in town.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  13. Our rotation coming out of the break is Lilly, Zambrano, Dempster, Hardin, Marquis - You will see the first 4 in that order barring injuries OR rainouts. Since we are at Houston and Arizona, only our set of 4 vs the Marlins (hope Uggla plays like he did last night) is the only rain out possibility. (unless a hurricane hits Houston in the next 3 days) You guys have 3 in SF and 4 in St Louis that could get washed but probably not So we should see Sabbathia, Sheets, Parra, and Bush/McClung
  14. Maybe Guzman deserved a spot on the team, but I sure would have rather seen Aramis (regardless of what you guys think of him) with a better chance to give the NL the lead with 1 swing in all those late inning AB's. From our two perspectives (Brewers and Cubs) our guys were all pretty pathetic at the plate but pretty darn good on the mound. How about that pickoff play, huh?
  15. End of 5 each team with 1 hit Cain at 82 pitches - Marquis at 59 Randy Winn left the game in the 3rd inning Edit: BTW Tim McClelland behind the plate
  16. After the break, we play 3 in Houston and then 3 in Arizona. I believe Lou is going with Lilly, Dempster, and Zambrano vs the Astros so maybe we'll get to see Harden vs Haren when we play the D'backs.
  17. More than 2 with 30+ is very difficult. In all the years that the Cubs have been playing in "HR friendly" Wrigley, only once have they had more than 2 in 1 season with 30 or more. 2004 - Moises Alou - 39, Aramis Ramirez - 36, Sammy Sosa - 35, Derrek Lee 32. Even in the 60's with Banks, Williams, and Santo, never did all 3 crack the 30+ mark in the same season.
  18. This Illinois guy has ventured into Wisconsin on several occasions to play a round or 4. 44 of us head up to Fox Hills Resort in Mishicot every year for a weekend of golf. Mishicot is pretty small - about 10 miles north of Manitowoc. 18 hole links style course in excellent condition (used to host a Hooters Tour event) and 3 9 hole parkland courses. We pay about $330 for 3 nights, unlimited golf and cart, and we get 40 "Fox Hills bucks" to spend while there. If you're in the southwestern part of the state, dip down to Eagle Ridge Resort in Galena, IL. The General is the featured course (not cheap but significantly less than Kohler) along with 3 other 18's. I've never played at SentryWorld, but I get a "365 Golf Holes" calendar every year and 1 hole from there, where they plant something like 10000 annuals is featured every time.
  19. Speculation based on some facts and some conjecture. Those of us with money in the stock market know that, "Past results are no guarantee of future performance." (in either direction) Why don't we wait until his first start on Saturday?
  20. I think we've been through this before. Hands down, the worst ever was the 1985 World Series blown call by Don Denkinger. The guy still gets death threats about it.
  21. 1 of my 2 son-in-laws said to me, "I'm going to ask her to marry me." I felt honored. My son asked his future FIL and was told "I've got some concerns." Not really saying no but since my son was in only a part-time "mortgage industry" job at the time, it was a reasonable response. My question is, Are you sure SHE is going to say yes? Good luck
  22. From my perspective that post at NSBB was just plain stupid. As far as Harden, depends on what Oakland wants. If they want immediate help, then no we don't have it. Our trading strength is at the lower minors not AAA.
  23. According to Wikipedia - Larry Harmon owned the franchising rights to Bozo and played the part on a syndicated show. WGN-TV's Bob Bell however was the most famous "local" Bozo. Bell died in 1997.
  24. Amusing that you didn't mention that you'll be facing Volquez probably on Friday since he pitched yesterday. (Unless Baker decides to start him on Wednesday and again on Sunday. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ) Edit: My bad. I see that you are using the MLB site that list the next 5 only. Volquez is Saturday followed by an underperforming Harang.
  25. Try throwing a cross-body block.
