  1. can't be bad for tucker, he might find some minutes out of the deal. about shaq's salary, marion was making 16.4 mil this year, and the point guard was making 4 mil... so they traded salaries. it's next year that will be the problem.
  2. Classic.
  3. No votes for Joey Meyer or Ruben Quevedo? A SHAM I TELL YOU!
  4. Game05, I just bought a house in Holly Springs, just Southwest of Raleigh. It was ranked the #22 place to live by Fortune magazine this year. I got a park about .5 mile away from my house with 4 lighted baseball/softball diamonds that are maintained by the town. It has a .5 mile path loop around the baseball diamonds, so I enjoy running there. It's also about 13 minutes from work, so I reduced my daily commute by 2/3. Raleigh is such an awesome place to live. I suggest living in the suburbs to the west of it.... like Apex, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina or Cary (Cary is very expensive though). There's tons of jobs in the Research Triangle Park (RTP) with all different kinds of companies having local HQs there. Charlotte is becoming a lot more nice, but the traffic is AWFUL.
  5. I lived in Germantown all my life until college, did 5 years in Madison.... then I got a job in North Carolina. It's really tough making a new set of friends, but it's slowly coming around. I've done everything, like cooking bratwurst for all my neighbors just so they'll come out of their shells. I just joined a sports club down here too. You just need to be active and do things.... and I don't mean just go to the bars. I did that for the first 5 months, and I think I made 1 friend. Work really doesn't produce many friends because we all work different shifts. It's also really hard to be single and move to a new location. I've gone the way of match.com and it's paid off really well. I met a girl that I dated for 6.5 months, and I'm on the verge of being committed to another girl.
  6. Why don't you nerds back it up to the statistical analysis board? Great stuff as usual. Some of the numbers are projecting a little low (braun/fielder) but it's interesting to see them predict Capuano making a solid turnaround.

  13. The game Tuesday is 15 minutes from my home in Morrisville... I'll be heading down to the Duke campus to find some scalpers selling at a reasonable price (yeah right.)
  14. maybe if joba took a shower every now and then, the insects would stay off of him.
  15. i used to watch simpsons reruns after band practice in college because my roommates wanted to watch it, but i never got into it very much. i would guess the majority of people wouldn't care, but it's just an old joke that i hear all of the time. on another note, i am completely exhausted after 3 nights of turning valves. i don't think i operated as many valves as i did last night in the first 9 months of working at the plant. fortunately, i have tomorrow night off.
  16. how did i know this thread couldn't make it out without the obligatory simpsons reference.
  17. For those of you who don't know, I work at a nuclear plant in North Carolina. We were going to take down the plant for a refueling outage at midnight, which we do every 18 months. I was scheduled to work 6pm-6am, but I was required to come in early for an oral board examination for one of the watch stations so I could qualify to operate components in that building. I passed my board (which was really difficult), and then I only needed to do a evaluated walkthrough with one of the bosses. We finish the walkthrough as the plant is being brought down in power slowly from 100% to 20% where we then trip the turbine so we can bring the reactor offline in a smooth manor. We are about 90 minutes away from our scheduled shutdown time, and there are about 400 contractors and staff members on site ready to get to work. I am finishing up the paperwork to complete my qualifications (20% of my job title effectively) when the lights go out. The jist of what everyone said was "oh, poopy!" Then the announcement was made: "Attention plant personnel, Reactor Trip". Suddenly, the office area I'm in bursts into action and everyone is immediately busy instead of waiting. The next 4 hours fly by, while I complete multiple tasks to put the plant in a safe condition. I want to reiterate that the plant is safe and no one was hurt, and no contamination was leaked, but to have a plant operate correctly for 361 days straight and then trip within 90 minutes of your scheduled time is INSANE.
  18. Take it from me.... it's really good to have that one really big career year and then get one of those Chan Ho Park, Gary Matthews Jr. type contracts like I did.

  21. add "wasted" by cartel and wyclef jean to the list.
  22. ok, the odds were just updated: cubs and cardinals stay the same, brewers changed to 1-1
  23. i don't know who has the best chance, but the brewers have the worst odds (lack of respect or they haven't been updated!) NL CENTRAL cubs: 2-5 brewers: 5-1 cardinals 3-2 i got $5 on the brewers.
  24. oh brian..... you just screwed me for all of this weekend. we played that for a UW Band field show my frosh or sophomore year and nobody could get it out of their head.
