  1. I hear ya - I’m just lamenting that when I was a kid, I could count on a healthy slate of bowl games on network TV during my Christmas break. Now, I’m lucky to catch one or two. I use to get something for free, but now it comes at a cost. That’s my gripe.
  2. Maybe they should just try to run the ball more.
  3. If it wasn't for ESPN, half of these bowls wouldn't exist because there would be nobody else to broadcast the games. That’s fine. I’m just saying put some on ABC instead of Shark Tank re-runs on Friday night or Best of X-Games Aspen on Saturday afternoon.
  4. This is my 3rd annual rant against ESPN and their monopoly on bowl coverage. I counted 4 games on broadcast TV. And they wonder why the CFP ratings have been so low the last 2 years - half the country can’t watch the games to begin with!
  5. I’d imagine this varies largely by age, but for a 30-something like myself, it’s Home Alone, The Santa Clause, Christmas Vacation, and Elf. Also, I’d echo the sentiment that, while not a Christmas classic, Jingle All The Way is good for some jollies.
  6. Loyalty still matters. When a company invests resources in your training and exercises patience as you work your way up the curve - they’re hoping you don’t leave too soon. A pattern of job-hopping, while not disqualify, is still a red flag. Choose your moves carefully. While loyalty still matters (the extent of which is debatable) we’re all the CEO of our own careers. Our high earning years are limited. Eventually, better opportunities arise and no one will think any less of you for capitalizing on them.
  7. The Packers went 15-1 during a season Capers coached one of the bottom 5 defenses in the league. The fact that he wasn't fired after that season is laughable. I actually give both DC and TT a pass for that season due to the loss of 3x All Pro Nick Collins. It’s been their inability to adapt since 2011 that frustrates me.
  8. I see these advertisements often on Bloomberg TV at work ... the first thing I thought of was the Untuckem shirts. With a dress shirt purposely cut that short, I’d worry about bending over and exposing my underwear waistband (or worse) at work.
  9. Assuming UCF wins The American championship game next weekend and remains undefeated, they deserve to be in the CFP over any 2-loss Power 5 team.
  10. One of the many flaws of this system is that a 1-loss team who did not win its division can sit out a conference championship, avoid a second loss, and still make the playoffs. Meanwhile, half of teams playing a 13th game will notch a loss against a quality opponent be penalized in the CFP standings.
  11. It's funny to think that the Packers moved on from Matt Flynn to make Scott Tolzien the primary backup, only to move on from Tolzien a year later with Hundley as the no. 2 QB. You'd think that after getting caught with his pants down once in 2013, TT would have had the good sense to keep Flynn around.
  12. Flacco may be a Super Bowl winning QB, but he still sucks and is by no means the reason today ended in a loss. I know he's been the beneficiary of some good defenses, but I'd love to see the Packers start a Joe Flacco-caliber QB next week.
  13. It's a QB-driven league. Assuming they lose to the well-rested Steelers next week, they will be 0-4 against 3 Super Bowl winning QB's and Matthew Stafford. You either have the man or you don't.
  14. Why on Earth does he drop so far back on every pass play?
  15. The NCAA is willing to play basketball games in China - a country with a history of gross human rights violations, but not in North Carolina.
  16. Pretty unlikely, but most NFL fans would love to see their rap sheet grow. If the league asked to see Bennett's phone, he could just smash it.
  17. The Patriots were just about last in the waiver order so it's not like he was flat out released and everyone had an equal chance at him. Almost 30 teams passed. According to Bennett, he told his agent to tell other teams not to claim him on account of his need for shoulder surgery.
  18. The fact that he's active tonight for the Patriots after having been previously ruled out by the Packers proves that he quit on his team. Either that or his condition only flares up we he doesn't have a HOF QB throwing him the ball.
  19. I don't think today's game plan was much different compared to last week's - it was just executed better. I'll reserve judgement until the end of the season. I don't think we've seen his best football yet.
  20. Hundley had a passer rating of 88 last week, which was considerably higher than the games against Minnesota and New Orleans. I think his arrow is still trending up, but his ceiling seems to be lower than I once thought it was. In any case, Go Pack!
  21. I know this will vary largely by industry, but what’s the long-term outlook for both employers? Is one employer at a greater risk of being purchased by a larger competitor? I tend to value stability, all else equal.
  22. It’s tough to quantify the impact of the low draft position, but yeah, there’s something to it. The inverse draft order leads to parity.
  23. They also lost a 4th or 5th round comp pick due to his release and are lifting the burden of his guaranteed salary from the Packers, but yeah, watch NE get the most out of that nut job for the next 3 months.
  24. It was odd that he came back from the bye week injured. I just assumed he was cashing in some unused PTO days before he retired. It will be interesting to see the details as they unfold.
