  1. Designated Survivor was cancelled yesterday after 2 seasons. I’m bummed because it was one of the few shows my wife and I enjoyed together, but quality wise, there was a huge drop off from Season 1 to Season 2.
  2. B99 on NBC - Oh Yes! I’ve read it was a casualty of Thursday Night Football on Fox. There was just less room on the Fall schedule. Hopefully, NBC gives it a fair shake. Pick a time slot and keep it there. No more 3-month hiatuses.
  3. Last Man Standing gets picked up by Fox. Woot!
  4. Pray for a streaming service pickup?
  5. Just saw that Last Man on Earth and Brooklyn 99 were cancelled.
  6. ^^^ I think it’s a little silly. I wouldn’t call it stupid. People I respect have opted for hyphenated last names for reasons I must not fully understand (hence, the four name conundrum).
  7. ^^^ Agreed the 2013 season wasn’t as good as the original series, but obviously they had issues with bringing the cast back together after a 7-year hiatus. I’d still give it a B. It had its laughs. I’m hoping the format of the 2018 season will more closely mirror the original.
  8. What happens when a child with a hyphenated last name grows up and marries another child with a hyphenated last name? Would their offspring have four last names?
  9. Arrested Development - Season 5 comes to Netflix on May 29. I’ve been on that bandwagon since they were still on Fox. It was an awful shame that Arrrested Development never picked up a large audience until people started watching on DVD after it was cancelled.
  10. On the Free Sweatshirts: Indeed. In fact, I joked with my friends that had we not scored the free sweatshirts (on the fourth try), the whole day would have been a bust. Was the coupon really that big of a draw? I wasn’t even aware of it until it was mentioned on the scoreboard. My wife and I usually ignore the coupons we receive from Younker’s due to the high number of exclusions. The sweatshirts were neat though. Kudos to the Brewers for a nice giveaway.
  11. Did anyone else have a hard time tracking down the giveaway sweatshirts yesterday? My group tried entering the ballpark around Noon using the entrance near Friday’s and were informed that they were out. We worked our way from LF to RF and finally found an entrance that still had them on our 4th try. Sort of felt like Arnold in Jingle All The Way.
  12. I can’t stand the attitude of ‘so what, these kids deserve to get paid’ because it detracts from the issue of fairness. Suppose that your favorite team is one of the few that follows the rules. You’ve basically have had no shot at a national title for the last 20 years because your school doesn’t field a team of professionals.

  14. Correct: Charter acquired Time Warner in 2016 and later re-branded them as Spectrum ... and then later jacked my monthly internet bill up by $30 to compensate for all of their cable TV subscriber losses.
  15. Haven't we already been through this trivia game of how virtually nobody below Vaughn has been useful? Or the other picks? I’m not even a Badger fan, but I was hoping for Sam Dekker there.
  16. There’s definitely something to technology fueling the debate about catches, but technology would likely have proven that Jerry Rice fumbled, so I’m torn.
  17. I think sometimes what we have a hard time with is that multiple players can be great at the same time. Those two, while they have different styles of play, are interchangeable. I think a guy like Brees would be too. If you stuck any of those three on New England over the last decade, you would have pretty close to the same results. Well said. I think as Packer fans, we’re probably guilty of that same sin. Our team is pretty good and we have a neat history, but other teams are good too. However, I think I can objectively claim that Brady has been the beneficiary of unbelievablely fortunate circumstances (good health, great coaching, stable ownership, quality defenses, weak division, etc.). When you win Super Bowls, you deserve acclaim, but to suggest Rodgers is a far lesser QB because of his 7 playoff losses where his team gave up 36.6 ppg (2 of which went to OT and he didn’t get the ball) is silly.
  18. 4th time in 37 playoff games that the Pat's gave up 30 points. Packers have given up 30 5 times in 16 playoff games under Rodgers. Rodgers has been eliminated 3 times when the defense gives up 40+ despite averaging 33 points (Pat’s total yesterday) in those games. After last year’s 28-3 comeback, I finally acknowledged Brady’s greatness, but I still don’t believe he’s light years ahead of Rodgers.
  19. The Patriots give up 41 and Brady loses a Super Bowl. Shocker. That’s the type of crap Rodgers has to deal with on a week in, week out basis.
  20. Thanks for the update. What a shame. I enjoyed watching him in Appleton.
  21. So what’s up with Carlos? I googled his name and this old thread was one of the top results ... probably not a good sign
  22. If someone wished me a merry <>, my response to them would be ‘and a merry <> to you too.’ People shouldn’t have to be afraid to wish someone else a Merry Christmas.
  23. I’ve always thought of the greeting ‘Happy Holidays’ as being inclusive of Christmas and New Year’s. ‘Happy Holiday’ (singular) seems forced.
  24. ESPN recently featured a lengthy article about Louisville’s rise from a mid-level commuter school to an athletic power. What’s unfortunate is that the NCAA can take away wins and their national championship, but they can’t take away their conference affiliation. Louisville is in the ACC. They won. The end justified the means. Bring on that big TV money. Conference USA is for chumps. Right? (sarcasm).
  25. Yes, every company seeks profit and operates on thin margins. While you can (and should) occasionally seek a better salary elsewhere, I think aligning yourself with the right manager can be equally effective. There are still good men and women out there who go to bat for their direct reports and care about their development.
