  1. The Browns broke their losing streak in the Browniest way possible. I find myself rooting for the Falcons and Panthers just to decrease the Saints’ playoff odds.
  2. Interesting that MVS and St Brown appear to be ahead of Moore on the depth chart. Also, shaking my head at Trevor Davis being a late scratch.
  3. I was feeling really good about this game until the Mack trade. It adds an interesting wrinkle to the storyline. Also, I’m a little nervous about the run game. How many times have they gone through 2 RBs before? No FB to act as a third ball carrier either. Go Pack!
  4. Hypothetically, let’s say Trubisky turns into a Top 10 QB in 2 years. That still gives the Bears a 2-year window with a QB on a rookie contract. The Ravens and Seahawks both won Super Bowls recently with stout defenses and QBs on rookie contracts (Philadelphia sort of falls in this category too). Likely? No. Possible? Sure.
  5. If Mack breaks Rodgers’ collarbone, I will quit the internet. I would have given up two firsts or a monster contract, but not both.
  6. I don’t understand the hate directed toward the preseason. Isn’t Packers preseason football pretty much better than regular season anything else? I realize I’m asking this to a bunch of baseball fans, but baseball is on 6 nights per week. If I could choose between watching the JV Packers 2 or 4 times per year, give me 4.
  7. You’re probably right in that it’s unlikely to blow over. It’s unfortunate for all parties, but I’m glad itresults from a thorough investigation and not the court of public opinion.
  8. They’ll have to keep Trevor Davis because no one else can hang on to the ball. Kevin Harlan has not been sharp tonight. Ordinarily, I’m a big fan. Also was not impressed with JK Scott.
  9. ^^^ One of the reasons I favor holding on to it. I still think it will be in the 20s, but it’s a wild card.
  10. I don’t necessarily think they’d have to deal a FRP to shore up the roster at mid-season. The two firsts afford them the ability to trade a 2nd or 3rd rounder this year without short changing next year’s draft class. A lower profile move is probably more realistic (the Eagles added Jay Ajayi for a 4th rounder last year).
  11. ^^^ The Saints pick is likely to fall somewhere between 25-32, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see them miss the playoffs given a tough division and a loaded NFC. And if Brees were to suffer an injury early in the season, it could be a top 10 pick. Unlikely, but still a realistic possibility.
  12. Part of me would like to see the Packers hang on to both picks just so we can go into the off season with a reason to be optimistic. It would be fun to read the mock draft coverage and dream of the possibilities. Ideally, if the Packers are sitting at 7-1 or 6-2 around the trade deadline and are reasonably healthy, I’d like to see them trade a pick or two to fortify the roster and take a shot.
  13. The Packers don’t have many elite players because they’ve been picking in the 20s for a decade. They have an elite player at the one position that really matters and he’s effectively under team control for 4 more seasons.
  14. I agree with you on all counts, Snapper. Rodgers already tilts the field. When he’s 100% and the roster is healthy, they are a serious contender. I would rather have 2 FRPs on value contracts and some FA acquisitions at positions of need than one $20 million / year player. That’s not a knock on Mack. He’s an elite defender. That’s just how I’d prefer to see the roster constructed.
  15. I'd give him CM3's money since hes coming off the books. Get 5-6 years younger with a possibly better in his prime player? Those types don't grow on trees let alone come available often. That’s tempting, I know. If it were 2 FRPs for a prime player on a value contract, absolutely. If it were just a matter of signing him as a FA, no question. It’s both that trouble me. Plus, Clay makes north of $10 million. I believe Mack will command closer to $20 million per season.
  16. I wouldn’t give up 2 firsts for Kahlil Mack. I know he’s in his prime right now, but so was Clay Matthews the last time he was up for a new contract.
  17. Apparently, there was a gentlemens’ agreement made between Nebraska and Nebraska - Omaha when Omaha folded its football team. It was the only other D1 football team in the state. In exchange for a football monopoly, Nebraska was not going to sponsor hockey. Now that hockey has become a 3rd revenue sport, it will be interesting to see if Nebraska makes a move.
  18. SNC is a real wild card for D1 hockey because they have major donor potential in the Schneider Family (Schneider National Trucking ~ the orange trucks). I could also see them being a little more flexible than the UW schools because I don’t think they are particularly attached to their primary conference (whereas the WIAC is a pretty nice setup). Nonetheless, college hockey is expensive and I still see a D1 move as an unlikely possibility.
  19. A team almost has to be the primary tenant of their arena to play college hockey because home games require key Friday and Saturday dates for half the year. A hypothetical UWGB hockey team would almost certainly be behind the Green Bay Gamblers (USHL) and the UWGB men’s basketball team in priority at the Resch Center. Plus, UWGB already operates with the lowest number of teams and scholarships permissible by D1 and Horizon League standards. They are very cost conscious and have performed well across most sports for a school of their size and budget. I can’t see them stretching themselves thin with hockey unless there was a major donor.
  20. I believe the reason why there are so many D1 hockey schools in Michigan and Minnesota is because most of their smaller public universities have D2 athletic programs, whereas most UW schools have D3 athletic programs. Since there is no D2 college hockey (just D1 and D3), the D2 hockey programs have been effectively grandfathered into D1. In order for one of Wisconsin’s very successful D3 hockey programs to go D1, they’d have to elevate their entire athletic program to D2 and give up all of their existing conference ties. It is technically possible to remain at D3 and sponsor D1 hockey, but then the program cannot offer scholarships - thus putting the team at a significant disadvantage.
  21. I just had my application approved in a little over a day. I also received a free share of Sprint by using a referral code. Hopefully your experience was atypical.
  22. 3 months? Yikes. I just submitted an account application earlier today. Maybe a short wait will help stem some impulse buys. The application process was unbelievably easy. I’ve had to answer many probing questions for self-directed brokerage accounts I’ve held in the past (like providing an itemized net worth).
  23. "use" is a strong word. I have an account and a few stocks but I don't trade regularly. It's my fun money to invest in small and micro caps. How do you like it? Seems like no one can beat them on price.
  24. Apologies if this has been discussed (I know I’m late to the party), but is anyone using Robinhood, the brokerage platform?
