  1. I'd also be curious to know how MLB 2K9 or MLB 2K8 is on the Wii. I purchased NBA Live 09 to play on my girlfriend's Wii and was very disappointed with the quality.
  2. Does anyone know why Ryan Braun is wearing #18 in the WBC rather than his usual #8? It does not look like there is a #8 on the roster.
  3. How much were the ones at Lambeau? I paid $16 / ticket for the cheapest seats available.
  4. Hey Badger Fans- Sioux Fan here. UW is my second favorite WCHA team, so I'm looking forward to watching tonight's game. This series is highly consequential for both teams. Good luck!
  5. I have an office near a Bulls fan at work, so naturally the subject of tonight's game has come up. Is this the most important game to date? The optimist in me says yes, but I can't help thinking that the 3/3 matchup against the Nets at the BC was of greater importance. Either way, I'll be cheering on the Bucks tonight!
  6. Jimmy Fallon had over a year to plan out his first show and the best he could come up with was a guy licking a lawnmower for $10? That's pretty weak, but The Boston Teens sketch on SNL where he paints "NOMAR" and the #5 on the back of a rented tuxedo buys him another few weeks from me. Seth Meyers would have been a good choice, as well, but Fallon had this gig lined up before Meyers really came into his own on Weekend Update. Spike Feresten's comedy appeals to the lowest common denominator. I think that he is a lot smarter than he lets on. If he can build some momentum, I think that FOX will try to set him up with his own weekday talk show. That was the plan when they gave him "Talk Show."
  7. Did anyone else catch that Friday night's Milwaukee Bucks @ New Orleans Hornets game has been bumped from ESPN? This was the Bucks' only nationally televised game during the regular season. I'm out of the FS-Wisconsin viewing area, so this was my one chance to see the Bucks on TV. I put this game on my calendar in October and planned my weekend around it.
  8. Joe- thanks. That's exactly what I was looking for. No further explanation needed.
  9. What exactly happened with CV's rejection last night? I only had my eye on the live box score.
  10. Keeping the roster that we have right now absolutely means that we lose CV and our 1st. How exactly would the Bucks lose their first round pick? Is it because they couldn't afford to pay that player or that they would need to sell it for cash?
  11. Do you think that it would be possible to buy a plate for display only? I would rather put one in a basement bar to marvel at than pay $40 / year to renew.
  12. Dmiles- thanks for the link! I think that Parra was wearing #26 when he pitched his perfect game in AAA. (I could be wrong, it could have been #29 ... one of those two).
  13. For comparison's sake, here are the non-WGN national games. Thanks for the link- I noticed that some of games dates were not consistent with the broadcast schedule on the Brewers' website: http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=mil&m=4&y=2009 Does your cable give you MLB Network? They will carry 26 games this year, one a week I guess, but no schedule has been published. I wish. They offer a sports tier for $4 / month that includes both the NFL and NHL networks, but no MLB network. I would pay $4 each month for the MLB network alone.
  14. On the subject of uniform numbers ... Does anyone know why Manny Parra switched to #26 this season? If he is partial to that number, couldn't he have had it last year after it was vacated by Damian Miller? Iribarren did not start wearing it until his call-up. I noticed a few other number changes on the Brewers' website, but they were all by less established players who I'm sure took whatever they could get after their call-ups / signings. Angel Salome- #50 to #13 Hernan Iribarren- #26 to #9 Mike Lamb- #46 to #20 Brad Nelson- #40 to #27 (because of Macha?)
  15. I'm trying to piece together a national broadcast schedule to determine whether or not it is worth getting MLB Extra Innings. I'm living outside of Wisconsin for the first time, so I won't be able to catch many games at Miller Park this season. Until recently, I never have had cable television, so any games on top of the usual Fox Saturday Baseball schedule are still on novelty for me. This was the best I could with pulling together several internet sources. Any noticeable oversights? 3/7 Cubs (ST) - WGN 4/10 Cubs- WGN 4/12 Cubs- ESPN 5/8 Cubs- WGN 5/10 Cubs- WGN 5/24 @ Twins- ESPN 6/13 White Sox- FOX 6/20 @ Tigers- FOX 7/4 @ Cubs- WGN 9/5 Giants- FOX 9/17 @ Cubs- WGN As a bonus, I'll get most Brewers / Twins matchups because I'm in the FSN North viewing area. Does TNT still pick up Braves' games?
  16. Great Thread Idea! I have some questions regarding MLB Extra Innings. I'm currently living in North Dakota. The home market team is the Minnesota Twins. According to my cable provider's website, MLB Extra Innings would provide "up to 80 out of market games each" week? Assuming that there are about 90 MLB games played per week, that should mean that I will get almost all Brewer games, right? Also- do most cable providers offer half season rates? I have school through the middle of May and don't want to devote full evenings to baseball until the semester is over. Our rate here is $199 / season. Is that consistent with other markets? Thanks for the input. My cable provider's website says "check back next season for more information."
  17. PM Sent. Good Luck.
  18. Who are the other six teams that don't have representation? The other six teams with out an NBA All-Star Weekend representative are Charlotte, Washington, Golden State, Minnesota, Sacramento, and Utah The NBA does a great job of promoting its All-Star Weekend. Even casual sports fans might tune in- come on, who doesn't like seeing a great dunk, right? I just wish that the Bucks would get some credit. There are a total of 60 participant slots (when injury replacements are included) between the 5 events that I listed above. Not even one slot went to a Milwaukee Buck. OKC, a team with half has many wins as the Bucks, has 3 participants (albeit, talented young guys). Even some WNBA players are invited to participate in the Shooting Stars contest. Yes, that's right, the Detroit Shock have more representation than the Milwaukee Bucks at the NBA All-Star Weekend. I'm glad to see good teams get rewarded with multiple participants, but when seemingly everybody (even Terrell Owens in the celebrity game) gets an invite to Phoenix, it leads me to ask- what gives?
  19. Here's an interesting take on the NBA All-Star Weekend: If you were to examine the list of participants in the Rookie / Sophomore Game, PlayStation Skills Challenge, 3-Point Shootout, Slam Dunk Contest, and the NBA All-Star Game (injury replacements included), You would find that: - The Milwaukee Bucks are one of only 7 teams who do not have a participant in the NBA All-Star Weekend. - The Milwaukee Bucks and the Utah Jazz are the only 2 playoff teams without a single participant in the NBA All-Star Weekend. - 8 teams with worse records than the Milwaukee Bucks have participants in the NBA All-Star Weekend. - 8 teams with worse records than the Milwaukee Bucks have 2+ entries in the NBA All-Star Weekend. I realize that the Milwaukee Bucks are not a premiere NBA franchise (not yet, anyway), but you couldn't throw them a bone, David Stearn? Come on- there were more WNBA players invited to Phoenix! It's not like there is a shortage of qualified Bucks. Ramon Sessions is 2nd in assists and 8th in scoring among NBA sophomores. LRMAM is arguably the best rookie defender in the league. Plus, Joe Alexander can throw down more than his ping pong and cookie dunking videos let on.
  20. The idea is clever, I especially like the DARE tie in. Even the "weed wacker" giveaway is creative, but the promotion gets tacky with "Cheech, Chong, and Mary Jane" discounts, 420 goals, and the document shredder. Overall: B
  21. The trick is to wait as long as possible to renew. They'll be desperate once again this offseason. Just point out all the promotions they give to the general public ($10 tickets, all-you-can-eat) and say shouldn't season ticket holders get some of those perks? That's gold. Thanks. I wish that my account carried that kind of clout.
  22. Thanks for the replies, guys. That's exactly what I wanted hear. I do tend to think of my relationship with my ticket rep as more business oriented than the one I have with a car dealer. I work with my ticket rep throughout the year and want to preserve a positive relationship with him so that in a pinch, I can score in demand tickets to entertain clients (please hold off on the wise cracks about the Bucks being in demand http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif). So if the consensus is that it is appropriate to ask for some extra season subscriber benefits, what would you ask for? Has anyone received extra benefits in the past (Bucks or Brewers)? Thanks again for the input!
  23. I think you're placing a ticket rep way higher on the social strata than you need to. This is not an audience with the Pope you're talking about ... Haha- Our ticket rep has been both professional and accommodating. I'd hate for him to think his efforts go unappreciated. Thanks for the reply. Keep them coming.
  24. Last June, some friends and I purchased a half-season ticket package for the 2008-2009 Bucks' season at a cost of about $500. In addition to our 21 pairs of tickets, we also received a $100 concession stand gift card and $150 ticket bank as subscriber gifts. We've been reasonably happy with the package and will more than likely renew it for next season. However, before our ticket rep asks us to re-up, I'd like to run a question by the board: Is it appropriate (or in bad taste) to ask for benefits beyond the standard subscriber gifts? We'd like to pick up extra tickets, leftover giveaway items, and / or player autographs, but at the same time, we don't want to offend our ticket rep by asking for more than what we would otherwise be entitled to. However, the Bucks aren't exactly in a position to be picky about how they choose to retain their season subscribers. I would really appreciate it if some board members could weigh in on this topic. Thanks in advance for your input.
  25. Bucks2281 & MJLiverock- Thanks for the responses. They made a good deal of sense to me. I guess I'm just stuck on the fond memories that I have of watching the MLB / NBA playoffs in the mid 1990s. Outside of "game of the week" type broadcasts, the playoffs were the only chance I had to catch pro baseball and basketball. It was a real treat to watch these games on a weeknight and something that I looked forward to every year as a teenager. I probably would not be the type of sports fan that I am had it not been for those broadcasts. I'd live and die by the Packers like a lot of other people who grew up in Green Bay.
