  1. He was one of the guys I actually thought looked good out there. I’ll be interested in see his game score. He might grade out just fine, but they could have really used a big 3rd (or 4th) down stop from a guy they invested so much in. He seems like a decent guy and his potential is obvious, but when you pick a non-QB with the #12 overall pick, he needs to be an instant starter. I’ve never liked that pick for that reason.
  2. I’m disappointed they lost, but if they were going to lose, I’d rather have it be by 5TDs so the media can hold them accountable. I’ve always had a mixed opinion of Rob Demovsky, but you can count on him to poke at their bruises.
  3. Rashan Gary has yet to prove he’s worth of the #12 overall pick. Even if he turns out to be a stud by the end of the season, the Packers will have exhausted 3 of his 4 cheap years.
  4. Give a second contract to an RB and first game out he goes for 9 yards. I like Aaron Jones, but this will prove to be a mistake.
  5. Don’t forget Rodgers skipped mini-camp too. He left some reps on the table.
  6. I know this is probably ‘down in the dumps’ me talking, but I feel like 2014 and 2020 were missed opportunities for the Packers. I should lower my expectations. This isn’t their year and it’s probably going to be a long time before they win another one.
  7. I know you’re being sarcastic, but that thought did cross my mind.
  8. He’s active, but also 31. Not sure what Rodgers was expecting outside of maybe a reliable WR5.
  9. Yeah. He’s not wrong. And all this time I thought it was because they just suck. I mean, he’s still not wrong.
  10. Yeah. He’s not wrong. And all this time I thought it was because they just suck. I’ve often pondered how the last 10 years would have just played out had the Packers just consistently put weapons around Rodgers instead of investing so much draft capital in improving the defense with very little to show for it.
  11. I just caught up to the DVR, but some first half thoughts: - If they don’t score a TD on the first drive of the second half, the Saints will just milk the clock with Kamara. - Of course you can count on the Packers D being a poop show. They probably should have just kept Pettine and saved themselves some paperwork. - It’s unfortunate that they’ll need to pass a lot in the second half, because A.J. Dylan would be such a weapon if he could just work up a good lather.
  12. I have a feeling I’m going to miss the end of the Vikings / Bengals game because the network will (rightfully) cut to the Packers. I wonder why networks don’t space out the TV windows a little better and capitalize on a standard post game show between the early and late games? I’m guessing they want to be done before prime time. To me, the solution would be to move the early games up by an hour.
  13. Sorry, I meant if it were a streaming original. But I get your point. It’s there. People can watch it, but most don’t. B99 will always be an underrated gem, IMHO. It’s tough for network sitcoms to be consistently funny with rigid 22-minute windows, large episode orders, and network censorship. Plus, they have to appeal to the lowest common denominator or risk early cancellation if they can’t find an audience. Despite all that, B99 put out 150+ episodes of very funny PG material.
  14. Some predictions for the season: Record: 12-5 Result: Loss in NFC Championship Game Rodgers: 40 TD / 11 INT; 110.0 Passer Rating Pro Bowl: Rodgers, Adams, Jenkins, Alexander Positive Surprise (O): A.J. Dillon Positive Surprise (D): Henry Black Negative Surprise (O): Randall Cobb Negative Surprise (D): Za’Darius Smith Jordan Love is the QB in 2022 2022 is a lost season for ‘cap repair’
  15. Mike Zimmer is in his 8th NFL season as head coach of the Vikings. It’s odd to see a coach tenured that long with the same team who hasn’t won a Super Bowl. Reflecting on recent history, Bill Cowher is the only coach I can think of who won a Super Bowl after 7 years. The rest of them all won pretty early in their tenures. Bruce Arians (2nd season) Andy Reid (7th) Bill Belichik (2nd) Doug Pederson (2nd) Gary Kubiak (1st) Pete Carroll (4th) John Harbough (5th) Tom Coughlin (4th) Mike McCarthy (6th) Sean Payton (4th) Mike Tomlin (2nd) *Bill Cowher (15th)* Tony Dungy (4th) Jon Gruden (1st) Brian Billick (2nd) Dick Vermeil (3rd) Mike Shanahan (3rd) Mike Holmgren (5th) Barry Switzer (2nd) George Seifert (1st) Jimmy Johnson (4th) Joe Gibbs (2nd) Bill Parcels (4th) They can keep trotting Mike Zimmer out there for all I care (Go Pack!), but history says he’s not going to get it done.
  16. Za’Darius Smith is a go for today: https://www.yahoo.com/sports/packers-olb-za-darius-smith-141823183.html
  17. Wow. I just sorta thought a no-no was the type of thing others teams got to enjoy but not us. Very cool.
  18. The Brooklyn Nine-Nine series finale is on Thursday. If it were on a streaming service, it’d be a hit. Instead, it’s existed in relative obscurity on network TV for 8 years without ever having a regular time slot to call home. It’s sure to live on in syndication.
  19. They’ll be wearing green tomorrow: https://www.yahoo.com/sports/packers-wear-home-uniforms-jacksonville-194945522.html Others will disagree, but I hate the games some teams play with unis. If white gives your team an advantage in your climate, then wear white at home all season.
  20. Ohio State lost at home. They might be able to sneak in as a one loss P5 conference champ, but they’ll need to win out. This is why I don’t want to see expanded playoffs. Every game is currently a playoff in college football. It’s exciting.
  21. Early in my career, I had a colleague who grew up in the Milwaukee Area and referred to his parents’ vacation home near Waupaca as ‘Up North.’ To me, this was bizarre because: 1) My perception of ‘Up North’ was always north of Hwy 64 and 2) Waupaca was literally south and west of where we worked in Green Bay. I’d ask him what his plans were for the weekend, he’d tell me he and his girlfriend were going ‘Up North,’ then he’d proceed to drive southwest for an hour and a half.
  22. Hwy 141 goes from 4-lanes to 2 just south of Crivitz. It’s also only a few miles north of Hwy 64. For those of us in Northeastern Wisconsin, I’ve always thought of Crivitz as the ‘gateway to Up North.’ Door County is its own region, IMHO. The top of the peninsula is further north than portions of the UP, but it has a very different look and feel (more like the ‘Cape Cod’ of the Midwest).
  23. I’ve spent most of my life in the Green Bay Area. My family’s Labor Day travels took us near Cedarburg and a new acquaintance asked how long I’ve lived ‘Up North.’ I chuckled to myself because I generally don’t think of Green Bay as being ‘Up North.’ To me, the Northern region of the state begins near Highway 64. I know this is a pretty geographically diverse group. I’m curious as to where everyone perceives Northern Wisconsin to begin. What do ya think?
