  1. Wow, the US did not qualify for the 4x100 final.
  2. The Bucks might be in on Danny Green: https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/263707/Danny-Green-Receives-Interest-From-76ers-Bucks-Celtics-Bulls-Pelicans Forbes back to San Antonio, but I didn’t see the details:
  3. How is that the Lakers are able to add to their roster despite having 3 max guys? I know a few signings (Anthony, Howard) are probably veteran minimums, but what about the rest? Kendrick Nunn, Kent Bazemore, Malik Monk, Trevor Ariza, Wayne Ellington? That doesn’t even include re-signing Horton-Tucker for 3 years / $32 million. You’d think after an early playoff exit, LeBron would hit the gym. Instead, he hits his Rolodex.
  4. PJ Tucker to the Heat https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/263648/PJ-Tucker-Heat-Agree-To-Two-Year-$15M-Deal
  5. I guess technically you’d need Teague, right?
  6. I honestly thought Bobby would get 3 years / $30 million from someone else and I wouldn’t have blamed him for taking it. PJ Tucker and let’s go!
  7. What are the implications of re-signing Tucker to that type of contract? My understanding is that the Bucks can pay him whatever he commands because they traded for him. It doesn’t impact their salary cap, but it impacts the owners’ P&L. Whereas with Portis, the Bucks are severely limited by what they can offer him because he was originally signed as a FA and the team is up against the salary cap. Did I get that right or is that a gross oversimplification?
  8. I will tread lightly and attempt to answer this as objectively as possible. I think some Wisconsin sports fans have difficulty embracing the new ownership group because their political views are different from 50% of the state and there was initial distrust of billionaire owners from New York. Yes, Herb Kohl was a Democrat, but he was a native son and had a good reputation even in right-leaning communities (which he earned over time).
  9. I actually like the I-AA games, but only as a first or second week tuneup. I don’t like it when teams strategically schedule them mid-season ahead of important conference matchups. They are good for Power 5 schools because they add revenue via the extra home game and they are great for I-AA schools because they receive a 7-figure check for showing up and getting their butts handed to them. For the sake of consistency and competitive balance, I’d support some limitations on how many I-AA opponents can be scheduled in a season and when those games can fall on the calendar, but I hope they remain part of college football. It’s a win all-around.
  10. I didn’t get a ‘slam dunk’ feel after her last floor routine, but I only watch women’s gymnastics once every 4 years, so I’m hardly an expert. I’m very happy for her, though. It was a solid performance with a gold medal on the line.
  11. Did Alex Antetokounmpo enter the draft? I didn’t see his name among the list of picks. I don’t think he played much in Spain last year and didn’t hear anything about him declaring for the draft, but I also read he worked out for a few NBA teams recently. If he did declare, I thought someone would have used a late second on him (like Kostas).
  12. The Lakers may be hard to beat if the Bucks return to the Finals. They get Russell Westbrook for Kyle Kuzma, Kentavius Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell, and the no. 22 pick in this year’s draft. How is it that they can package their scraps for a guy like Westbrook?
  13. Kevin King is injured already. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/packers-place-6-more-players-214815337.html
  14. I have a feeling that if the Big Ten wanted Iowa State, Iowa State would have been in the Big Ten a long time ago. Kansas, though … that’s interesting.
  15. Right, but now Rodgers is a year older with one fewer year left on his contract. It feels like the Packers are surrendering quite a bit to ensure he spends one more season in Green Bay. I don’t have any answers. The whole situation is a bummer.
  16. Please define "badly" I, for one, am happy that there is now a logical endpoint to all this crap. This cloud of uncertainty will be hanging over them all year along with the media circus that that follows it. Anything less than a Super Bowl will result in more finger pointing.
  17. ^^^ I’ve been critical of Lasry and Edens in the past and am willing to eat some crow, but let’s not forget they inherited their two best players from Kohl and Hammond. I think they receive an appropriate amount of credit for the team’s success.
  18. I think Nebraska was an AAU member when they were admitted to the Big Ten, but they lost their AAU status when the organization changed its metrics to exclude USDA-funded agricultural research. The separate med school also hurts their ranking.
  19. That’s a big part of it. Looking at this year’s All-NBA Team, 3 out of the Top 5 players were born outside the US (Giannis, Luka, and Jokic).
  20. Any chance the Bucks buy a pick? [sarcasm]I just bought a Bucks sweatshirt, so they should be working with some extra cash.[/sarcasm]
  21. The last season of B99 starts August 12th. That might be it for network sitcoms. The shift to streaming is complete. The Goldbergs is still a good family comedy, but it’s past its prime.
  22. Probably, but at the very least, I think we’re witnessing the birth of four 16-team super conferences and possibly a pseudo-professional, school-affiliated league that replaces NCAA football.
  23. According to this article from Yahoo, the SEC is trying to poach Michigan and Ohio State in route to forming a 20-team mega conference. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/latest-conference-realignment-rumor-states-123925223.html
  24. I wish I could find it, but I remember reading a profile on Giannis shortly after the draft that mentioned his ceiling was a Kevin Durant-type player. Either this author was spot on or they just named an NBA all-star to match every draft prospect.
