  1. Ehh, whatever. 49ers have looked beatable at times. Saints have looked beatable at times. Any of these teams are beatable. C’mon .. you still think this team will win more than one playoff game? I wouldn’t rule it out, but I also wouldn’t put money on it.
  2. The Packers put up 14 against Washington by half. The Saints put up 27 against the 49ers at half ... and they’re losing. I’m really happy with this team’s improvement in 2019, but am trying very hard to manage my own expectations for the playoffs.
  3. There are all already two tiers in DI football ... are you proposing three? I’m not really opposed, but I’d hate to see it wind up like high school football where they crown 6 or 7 champions. For all but a handful of college programs, the goal should be to win your league. Otherwise, you’re setting yourself up for perpetual disappointment. Conferences were originally devised to ease scheduling concerns. They also help minimize travel expenses (especially for smaller schools).
  4. He was claimed by the Dolphins. I wonder if the Packers also put in a claim? They still get to keep that pick, right? I didn’t think it had any conditions, but I don’t see it on Wikipedia’s 2020 Draft page (the Ty Montgomery and Reggie Gilbert picks are both there).
  5. The game against Chicago in 2 weeks is looking a little more difficult than it did a month ago. Chicago plays on TNF this week, which means they’ll play the Packers on extra rest.
  6. No. He earned the benefit of the doubt after his Super Bowl win and, if he were let go, he’d have another job tomorrow. Makes you wonder about all the money they gave to Wentz though.
  7. I think this is the year he finally makes a Pro Bowl.
  8. I don’t understand how an undefeated defending national champion isn’t ranked #1. Wouldn’t you give them the benefit of the doubt until someone beats them?
  9. I think the Big 12 will eventually break up and we’ll get to four 16-team super conferences. The conference championship games would essentially be the start of an 8-team playoff.
  10. There’s no way they lose today, right? ... right?
  11. You know James Harden would not have come out after 20 minutes. He loves the counting stats too much.
  12. The 7pm thing is amazing to me. I had a friend return my call last week at like 7:30 saying he missed my call getting the kids to bed. I had to ask what time they went to bed. I think I now understand why the school nurse and my first grade teacher were shocked that I stayed up until 9:30-10:30 as a kid. With brothers 10 and 11 years older, I never went to bed early, especially during summer when the sun was out. With my 3-year-old, we start the bedtime routine at 7:00 pm by brushing his teeth and getting into pajamas. I usually read to him for 20 minutes in his room, the my wife rocks him to sleep for another 20 minutes. I’d say it’s usually 8:00 before he’s actually sleeping, but if you want them asleep by 8:00, you’ve got to start around 7:00.
  13. I took my young son to our local holiday parade last weekend and their was a girl behind us (not much older than my son) watching videos on her mom’s phone the entire time. We’re at a parade - it’s kid central! If she needs a phone to get through a parade, I worry about how she’ll get through life.
  14. For Toyotas, it all depends on the model. I’ve found that Camrys, Corollas, and Rav4s depreciate 30-40% after their lease (probably because they are all popular lease models), whereas the Tacomas and Highlanders (which are more expensive to begin with) hold their value pretty well. It’s all supply and demand.
  15. I almost bought the new Rav4. It is cheaply built, pathetically outdated for a new remodel, lame features without spending luxury car prices, and has had numerous problems already. To be honest it seems likes Toyota knew the fanboys/fangirls would gobble it up and so they cut corners like crazy. In defense of real Toyota fanboys, we prefer to buy them off lease when they’ve depreciated by 40% after 2 years. I couldn’t care less about features - only value.
  16. My young son likes the Charlie Brown holiday specials on ABC. Last night, the Thanksgiving special was on at 7:00. I promised he could stay up past his bedtime to watch. After we finished dinner around 6:30, he starts asking to watch Charlie Brown. I explain it’s not on yet and that he has to wait until 7:00. He looks at me like I’m crazy. The concept of waiting for a TV show to be on is completely foreign to him because he’s grown up with streaming services, iTunes movies, and DVR. Happy Thanksgiving, BF.
  17. People who drive on the wrong side of the road to get their mail. Just walk to the mailbox.
  18. The Rams’ loss to the Ravens really helps solidify the NFC playoff picture. LA is currently the 7th seed at 6-5 and they still have to play the Seahawks, Cowboys, and 49ers. Had they won last night, they’d only be a game back of the 6th seed (currently the Vikings at 8-3). I doubt the Packers beat the Vikings, but as long as they go 3-1 against the other 4 teams on their schedule, a return to the playoffs seems likely.
  19. Jim Caldwell was 36-28 in 4 seasons as the Lions HC and he was fired because ... ???
  20. Here’s what I said before the game. I guess we have our answer.
  21. I’d give it a 25% chance of being overturned. It’s 50/50 on the replay, so I see them sticking with the call on the field. Given the magnitude of the play, maybe it was worth a challenge?
  22. That was sort of my thought too and I’m almost always a ‘take the points’ guy. Hate the outcome, but not the call.
  23. [sarcasm]Right after they played the Packers.[/sarcasm]
  24. I’m fairly patriotic, but sometimes you just have to recognize that other countries do a few things better than us. I’m a proud Toyota owner since 2006. Bought my first one used with 100,000 miles and then put on another 100,000 miles before I finally upgraded to a newer Toyota in 2017.
  25. I’ll take the 49ers by 3 ... advantage home team. It will probably be a close game, but few outcomes would surprise me. The Packers could come out and dominate and we’d all agree ‘this was a healthy, well-rested team that’s peaking at the right time.’ They could also come out flat and we’d say ‘this is what happens when they play a well-balanced team with a decent quarterback; they’ve been pretenders all along.’
