  1. I was happy to see him put together a decent game. My favorite Jimmy Graham Twitter fodder last week was someone labeling him as an ‘expensive Richard Rodgers.’
  2. The Bears still owe a #1 to Oakland. I would have traded two picks for Mack and I would have given him the money, but I wouldn’t have done both. It’s just a shame he wound up in the NFC North.
  3. It’s hard to believe they’ve already matched last season’s win total 7 weeks in to the season.
  4. We probably have to root for the Cowboys tonight since the Eagles would hold the tie-breaker over the Packers. I hate the thought.
  5. Thank goodness the Raiders traded Khalil Mack or else we would have had to face him today and again in 4 years.
  6. Ingold can’t convert on the FB assist.
  7. Right? My thought exactly.
  8. The Packers are beating Oakland with their own game by chewing all this clock. Realistically, at this pace, how many possessions does Oakland have left? 3?
  9. Why do teams still elect to receive after winning the coin toss? It gives them a 50% chance at forfeiting a possession. I realize there’s an intangible benefit to scoring first and forcing your opponent to play from behind, but even my middle school coach had us defer and he was no tactician.
  10. I love seeing Rodgers break out the belt after Oakland used it in the first half after a sack. Salty.
  11. I thought they’d be down 17-10 at half. Now, they’re up 21-10. Hard to say anything bad about that first half now. Inferior QBs will usually give you one freebie.
  12. If you defer to the ruling on the field, that was the right call.
  13. Bingo, borderline unwatchable right now Why wouldn’t the league prefer a 4-hour game? More commercials. They’re going to have to lose viewers before things change. The controversy is currently driving fan engagement with all the clicks it’s generated. Clicks = more ads!
  14. Wow, huge break. That doesn’t change the fact that Derek Carr just completed 11 in a row on them.
  15. They’ll get KC off the mini bye next week too. Though, to be fair, the Packers played the Vikings and Cowboys on extra rest.
  16. The local CBS affiliate in Green Bay changed their digital signal on Friday. I rarely watch live TV outside of local news and Packer games. I tuned in around 11:20 and it took me until Noon to troubleshoot and get the correct signal (20 minutes of that was just moving the digital antenna around before learning there was a signal switch). I imagine a lot of folks didn’t realize there was a reception issue until they tuned in at Noon.
  17. * Badger Hockey fan, right?
  18. Why do we have to be willing to accept more human error? I’ve got no problem with changing replay somehow, but getting rid of the auto review for scoring plays or turnovers would be a bad idea in my opinion. I totally get the desire for full consistency (I’m at the office right now on a Saturday just staring at some data), but it’s a game. My time is limited. It needs to finish in under 3 hours. Save the challenges for bad calls late in the game that are difficult to overcome (like Jerry Rice’s fumble in 1998 or the Rodgers face mask no call in 2009).
  19. ^^^ We all have to be willing to accept some human error in this process or the flow of the game will never improve. Either save the challenges for huge plays with a high probability of being overturned or risk being unable to challenge a questionable call late in the game.
  20. I'm starting to think you should call every game a Packer loss. Your bad predictions seem to be a good luck charm for the Pack If they keep winning, I’ll keep picking against them. I’ve had reservations about every game (Eagles were better than their record, Cowboys were going to run all over them in Dallas, Lions were coming off a bye and ascending, and now Packers beat up on short rest). I’m happy with the record, but waiting for a correction.
  21. And this would have changed zero calls from last night. Neither hands to the face was egregious, in fact the first one was correct. The roughing call with Allison wasn't remotely egregious. What I meant by ‘egregious calls only’ was that if you eliminate the automatic reviews and cap coaches to a max of 2, the coach has to be very careful about how they burn their challenges. You wouldn’t see a challenge used because the opponent picked up a first down even though they may have bobbled the ball.
  22. I hesitate to call the offense inept. I think the better term is ‘average.’ All of the high draft picks and free agency money is on the other side of the ball. If the Packers are going to win, they’re going to do it differently than the way they did from 2010-2014. Packer fans (myself included) need to come to terms with that.
  23. 24-20, Raiders. I’m starting to believe in this year’s team, but am also trying hard to manage my expectations. A lot of intangibles are going the Raiders’ way.
  24. I dislocated my knee as a senior in high school and then another 3 times within 18 months of the original injury. I’ve never been the same and eventually had to give up my active life style because I wanted to save whatever was left in that joint for things like mowing my lawn and taking my kids to the park. Now Mahomes has a super human body and access to world class medical care, so I’m sure his prognosis will be much better, but this is serious stuff. Poor guy.
