  1. It doesn't count, but in doing some searching Cleveland Indian's SS John Gochnaur (1901-1903) OPS + of 46 in his career, unfortunately only 1,030 PA's... but he wasn't one dimensional... Career Fld% of .901 including committing 98 errors in 748 chances in 1903 for a % of .869. Gochnaur had 146 career errors in 1,479 chances compared to Omar Vizquel who has 183 career errors in 11,894 chances.
  2. Yeah I've seen the "What is it Worth" thread. Just didn't feel it met the parameters of my neat but potentially valueless items. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I have a full size image of the Piece of the Park item.. Don't want to flood the thread with huge pictures so here is a link... Piece of the Park
  3. Guess I made an unpopular thread http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Anyway I found the Milwaukee Brewers Turning 20 -- The Story of the 1989 Milwaukee Brewers VHS at a rummage today. Too bad I no longer own a VCR..
  4. I just want to apologize in advance if there has been a topic like this recently, I remember an old "What's it Worth" thread, but nothing other than that. I want to see fellow fans little collectibles. What I mean is, I'm sure some of you have awesome, mind blowing collections. What I want to see is just little things that you have found that you think are cool. We've all seen autographs and all that, now let's see some of the little-known collectibles of 40 years of Milwaukee Baseball. Found this little guy on Ebay: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y37/bucksbeat/001.jpg A Piece of the Park: Milwaukee County Stadium - Home of the Milwaukee Brewers - American League Champions, 1982 Found this guy at a rummage sale for .50 .. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y37/bucksbeat/106.jpg Any idea where I can get it re-shaped and cleaned? Not really a cowboy hat expert but I had to pick it up.. May be part of my future game attire. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. If someone offered you a crazy package for Axford, sure. In looking at it though, we have $8,000,000 coming off of the books in Hoffman. It feels pretty good that right now, it looks as if that $8,000,000 wont have to be deposited back into the closer position.
  6. My prayers go out to his family. His Studio 42 with Bob Costas during last year's World Series was fantastic. He didn't believe he'd make it to Spring Training, how fitting he got to see and go out with baseball. This is baseball.
  7. I'd agree with you with any position other than a First Baseman.
  8. Again, Fielder has shown himself to be of little to no risk for injury. He's a prime candidate to sign and trade if need be in the future when financially the Brewers can't afford him anymore. I don't think this deal has much to do with what Fielder will get. Compared to Howard the only thing on Prince's side is his age. Howard has four straight years of at least 45 home runs and 136 RBIs. He has a ROY Award, Silver Slugger Award, NL MVP Award, NLCS MVP Award, is noticeably better defensively and isn't doesn't have the excessive weight.
  9. What more can you say aside from we are lucky to have him. I'm sorry but there are simply no negatives to his game. He could improve on defense but it's not a big issue.
  10. Wow, great game. That's all you can really say. Per the Unofficial Pirates Message board...
  11. Macha should have never been hired. My impression is that he doesn't defend his players and has no enthusiasm. We are seeing the same thing in Milwaukee that they saw in Oakland when Ken was fired. Something that Billy Beane referred to as "A disconnect on many levels." Something that then A's players Mark Kotsay, Eric Chavez, Barry Zito and our love Jason Kendall elaborated on after his dismissal.
  12. I am still in the "Sign Prince" group. If Fielder will sign a huge deal with us then do it, maybe he will avoid the advice of Boras in testing Free Agency for the team that drafted him. I just don't think we'll get his worth from another team when they know that after 2011 he is gone with Boras. Now of course if he is completely shutting out the Brewers then deal him for what you can get, but I'd like to see him signed and kept until the Brewers can't field a competitive team around him. The talent on the market now (Adrian Gonzalez) and the Free Agents after 2011 definitely hinder not only the money Prince will get, but the amount the Brewers will get back for him. Prince has showed no signs of injury risk, his defense has improved and his weight hasn't become any more of an issue it was when he was drafted. Sign him, hold him until after 2012 or 13 when big name 1B are off the market and trade him then if you need the money. Looking at the Brewers financial obligations, they can afford it for a few years. I've seen teams like Baltimore and Toronto floated around and I don't see any possibility Prince even entertains re-signing with a club that plays on a lower tier then annual division winners New York and Boston, and those teams know it.
  13. I'll leave my Prince opinions for his topic. However, if the Brewers aren't very confident in their ability to sign Prince, then they better work on extending Weeks. Rickie has proven he is fully recovered from his wrist injury so the Brewers shouldn't wait for him to play a whole season and put up monster numbers. Get him cheap on the basis now that he hasn't stayed healthy.
  14. Personally I am always shocked at the negativity towards our television guys. Bill Schroeder has been around for 15 years, becoming that usual voice on the television side. While he may not be the best baseball encyclopedia on the air, he definitely has that "Go Brewers" excitement. Vasgersian, Sutton, Anderson? We've been extremely blessed compared to some of the other teams who's television voices are just plain lousy. I would say in Milwaukee it isn't too smart to talk negatively of Mr. Baseball. Sure he's never been the best play-caller but he does everything else as good, or better than anyone in baseball. Love the man.
  15. To me he looks like a slim Matt Stairs.
  16. Hmmm.. That's kind of disappointing that baseball-reference is kind of unreliable.
  17. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit... Read the article: Brewers can't cry foul over Fielder
  18. Baseball Reference has those 4 WP for Kottaras as the first 4 of his career. He didn't have any in 243.2 innings in '09 or 8 innings in '08 at catcher with the Red Sox. Assuming that's correct he sees a WP every 65.5 innings while Zaun sees one every 31 innings throughout his career. Kind of strange as Kottaras has a PB every 32.525 innings (8 in 243.2 innings) while Zaun has one every 157 innings (51 in 8009 innings).
  19. Hmmm.. This reminds me a lot of the debate when the Brewers decided to include a "Wildcard" pennant at Miller Park. I'm all for it. It's not necessarily just celebrating CC but the single moment of him pumping his glove, shouting *bleep* Yeah! and the realization that the Brewers were back in the postseason. Braun already had his bobblehead for his moment.. What else should we depict here? Bill Schroeder sitting in the booth yelling "Yes! Yes!" or the Marlins catching the final out in New York to beat the Mets?
  20. Exciting news. There's always a risk with pitchers but I'll take 5 years of Gallardo at $30.1 million even easier than Randy Wolf at 3 years $29.75 million and much easier than Jeff Suppan at 4 years $42 million. He's performed above expectations at this point in his career and hasn't shown any durability issues other than a freak knee injury, which the Brewers waited to see how he'd come back from. I don't think this means anything about Prince Fielder's situation. It's not a white flag with the organization giving up on Prince. There's still as much hope as their was as $25.55 million comes off the book this year (Riske $4.5, Suppan $12.5 and financial obligations to Hall $7.15, Looper, $1.0 and Weathers $0.40). Considering we're paying $32.25 million for three players (Fielder, Suppan and Wolf) now there's no reason to believe that if Prince signs for $20 million per that we can't field a competitive team in 2012 with $41 million going to four players (Braun, Yo, Fielder, Wolf), in 2013 with $46.25 million going to four players (Braun, Yo, Fielder, Wolf), in 2014 with $41.25 million going to three players (Braun, Yo, Fielder) or in 2015 with $45.00 million going to three players (Braun, Yo, Fielder). I'm simply looking at it this way.... Is this $25.55 million (Riske $4.5, Suppan $12.5 and financial obligations to Hall $7.15, Looper, $1.0 and Weathers $0.40) helping us to field a competitive team this year? It can be done.
  21. Per Andrew Bogut on Twitter: "(Amare) should not take any blame. It was a freak of a thing that happened. Full stop. Amare is a good sport. I have the best support and fans. Thank you all I will bounce back from this! Please keep supporting us, it's a team game! Go Bucks! p.s. tweeting with my left hand is almost as painful as my injury ... almost".
  22. At least we stole Randy Wolf away from them... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/devil.gif ... Weren't expecting us to go that high, huh Yanks?
  23. The key here is "2 games in..."

  25. October 29, 2008: The Brewers selected Casey off of waivers from the Chicago Cubs.
