  1. Regardless of the probability of signing Prince Fielder I find it interesting that people seem to think that it would put a stranglehold on the franchise long-term. Let's say the Brewers lock him up long-term, when we get to the point 3-4 years down the line when money is an issue to maintain a competitive team around him, would it be impossible to trade him at that point?
  2. I never boo simply because I'm too busy studying the game to do so. Yep I'm one of those types. The only situation that I would have ever booed the Brewers, but didn't get the chance because they were in Houston, was the Mike Dejean/Jerry Royster shouting match on the mound.
  3. Personally I think the Brewers should look to give what Prince wants. I don't see Prince as being nearly as dangerous as offering a budget breaker to a pitcher (C.C.) who's arm could fall off, leaving the franchise out of luck. Sign him for 6, trade him in 4 or when Braun's contract inflates, Yo is due a raise, Prince can't stay at a healthy weight or some other financial trouble comes up. Between 4 players (Suppan, Hoffman, Hall, Riske) the Brewers have roughly 32.5 million coming off of the books next year, I don't think throwing Prince an extra $15 million would be a bad thing for a few years. I just don't see Prince as a guy who will lose his value when he is 29 or 30.
  4. I never wash my hats. Yes, I'm that kind of person. I remember when I was a teenager my mom use to to get ahold of them and throw them in the washer. It never feels natural again.
  5. I don't think we're crucifying Macha, I'm certainly not. Year one in Milwaukee though looks to be confirming the disconnect from players that was mentioned in Oakland. I will just rest easier when I hear one, simply one player comment on Ken Macha, their manager in a positive light.
  6. Don't see the relation between not having faith and inviting players.. The Yankees have 20 NRIs.
  7. I'm completely with you guys. Seth is one of those rare class acts in every sense of the term. Ken Macha really scares me.
  8. Just curious. How would you react if one of our greats came clean about cheating? Would you cheer them for coming clean like St. Louis fans have done with McGwire. P.S. I just want to point out the irony of the Cardinals playing the etiquette police when it comes to "Untucking" and Braun's "Cockiness" when they embrace a cheater.
  9. I still remember one of the times I was disappointed by the showing of fellow Brewer fans was when Loretta was traded and came back to Milwaukee as an Astro to a chorus of boos. .
  10. Cliff Lee's side of the story seems to be he wanted to remain a Phillie for the rest of his career. Apparently the Phillies and Lee were working out a contract before the deal and on the day it was finalized Lee had sent his counteroffer to them. On this particular trade, whether or not Bradley is a serviceable player, his negatives as a clubhouse cancer far outweighs any statistical production he may bring to the table. Any attempt to reign him in throughout his career has proven to be temporary.
  11. Earning it > Buying it
  12. I rather enjoy the metal detecting hobby. Wish I had the opportunity to do it more.
  13. Well I remember Richmond Lockwood Sexson being pretty popular in 2002.
  14. I typically avoid any trade discussions, just seems pointless. Obviously it's easy to distinguish when someone's "trade value" is high but it's never so easy when talking about the return that value will bring. Regardless of how high Prince's value is, I cannot see Doug Melvin willing to trade him until it is absolutely crystal clear that the Brewers have zero chance in signing him. Considering the Brewers have control over him through 2011, I don't see how it's even a discussion until the 2010 offseason considering the Brewers are currently within their financial "window" to win, now. Finally I think the Brewers have other potential decisions to make. Who will take over for Jason Kendall and Mike Cameron in the coming year(s)? Will they keep JJ Hardy and/or Corey Hart? I just can't see the Brewers potentially losing half of their positional starting lineup and then trading Prince, while in their control.
  15. I'm all for metal bats. I want to see just how far a baseball can go. A ball being hit out of Miller Park and heading onto the freeway would be pretty interesting. JK
  16. When you think about it, offensive struggles are probably a big reason Braun made his comments. Everyone is cold aside from Prince, the current pitching can't carry the team during a stretch like that. Anyway, I thought this Braun thing was over? He did apologize did he not?
  17. Regardless of whether it was right or wrong, I'm dumbfounded as to how Braun's comments show arrogance. It's taking the definition of arrogance, in itself, out of context.
  18. It's my opinion that the organization always has to be above the player. I don't agree with your General Manager going out and making ANY negative comment about any member of your club, retaliatory or not. Being that Doug Melvin is on the business end of things he should have called Ryan into his office and had a talk with him, not bash his bashing to the media. If Melvin were asked about it, all he should have said was that it was being dealt with internally. Braun's comments weren't too harsh for a GM to shrug off. Sorry but Braun said what every fan wanted to say.
  19. Macha needs to either get hot or send Willie Randolph out there to get in the face of the ump. It's unacceptable in that situation for a manager to have a mild mannered conversation, you need to fire up your team, especially when a call is reversed out of thin air. To me Macha needed to copy the Minor League manager that crawled around and threw grenades. Ridiculous.
  20. If you're moving to a better section/seat than you paid for it seems unfair to the people who purchased the right to sit in those types of seats. They worked for their money as well. All in all though, if all of the ushers did their jobs, it wouldn't be a problem. If everyone guarded their sections and levels like they do the Club Level everyone would sit where they should.
  21. I guess any press is good press. Personally with watching winning baseball I have no problem whatsoever with the Brewers being labeled as baseball's "bad boys." It just makes victories and sweeps so much better to watch.
  22. Well Prince's name is Prince. That's nickname enough. You can't really make a nickname out of J.J. I've heard Braun as Brauny, Gallardo as Yo, Corey Hart as Corey Hart "The Singer." It sounds good but unfortunately I don't think we can use "Gamel Toe." I was thinking G-Spot.
