  1. Right when he was optioned both Doug and Ron said that he was being sent down to play 1B.
  2. It could be worse, it appears that the AZ Diamondbacks no longer even exist: http://www.usatoday.com/s...ague-west-capsules_N.htm Haha, that's awesome.
  3. Totally agree. I really hope this doesn't come back to bite us. We are for sure going to be in trouble with basically any injury to our starting lineup. We can cover for Gomez with Morgan, and Counsell could hold down some infield spots for a short time, but other than that we would be in trouble. Nobody wants Kotsay toiling in RF or LF for any extended period of time, or Almonte at 1B, or anyone from the minors starting in the infield.
  4. That sound about right to me. Betancourt won't be off the hook for long though if he starts to play like crap when the season starts.
  5. Yeah, and even if Kotsay sucks, Doug won't have the balls to cut him.
  6. Now that Cruz refused his assignment, we really have no other righty options if Almonte fails. I just hope we don't lose Boggs too. Keeping Reed doesn't make sense to me. Even if Boggs had to be sent out when Hart returned, he would have a better chance slipping through waivers during the season than he does now.
  7. This really sucks though, because Farris doesn't have a ton of experience at SS, and was supposed to play 2B everyday in AAA. Now we are in problem if Betancourt sucks, or someone gets hurt. The guys who might end up playing SS in AAA are Wheeler and Maysonet. Not really comfortable with any of them at this point, which is why I would've kept Cruz on the roster. Really though it comes down to stupidly having Kotsay on the roster. Without Kotsay we keep Boggs, and he serves as our righty pinch-hitter. That way we wouldn't keep Almonte, and keep Cruz instead. Now it backfired on us like I initially expected.
  8. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/118784814.html Now the news is that Cruz used his right to refuse the assignment to AAA and is about to sign with Texas. Lost some depth on the infield now, so that sucks. At least we still have Farris on the 40-man roster.
  9. Yeah the rankings are very off here on him. He's probably a 9 or 10 speed. And an 8 fielding and 9 or 10 range.I will say, on the poster's own created scale of 2-8 ... a 9 or a 10 is very impressive. Well, didn't read close enough. Then 8 speed, and 8 range. You get the picture.
  10. Ummm... Really? I think Gomez is much faster than "Above Average". Yeah the rankings are very off here on him. He's probably a 9 or 10 speed. And an 8 fielding and 9 or 10 range.

  12. Yeah, I've thought about this too. From the sounds of things, I think at least a few of the guys on the DL are coming back April 12. The original plan would've been for Lucroy to come back April 6, so Nieves could be DFA'd to free a 40-man spot for Estrada. Since that is no longer happening, I don't even see Estrada being recalled. I think we'll go with Mitre and the bullpen at least for the 1st start. I think when Hawkins and Parra come back that Kintzler and one of Braddock and Stetter will go. The real question is who goes when Greinke comes back.
  13. The point about Counsell isn't that he's a bad fielder. It's that he's the only backup middle infielder we have. This means that we won't be able to use him to pinch-hit as much because we have no one else to play middle infield, or to come in on double switches or as a defensive replacement. Once he pinch-hits, that's it, he's out of the game and we have no one else. The worry is that if Betancourt struggles, or McGehee and Weeks need some days off, that Counsell won't be able to hold up with extended playing time.
  14. Is Mitre for sure going to be the fill in for Greinke? I hadn't heard anything official, but if the team decides to go with Estrada, I'm assuming they would swap him out with Kintzler for the April 6th start.Doesn't really matter. I was just saying that it's him that's filling that roster spot at this point.
  15. Having "mono" means that you tested positive for the virus and have some symptoms. As with many medical conditions, the severity of those symptoms runs quite a spectrum; in the case of mono it can cause nothing at all to being wiped out for weeks on end and having an engorged spleen. Most adults who weren't germophobes and had a social life as a youth have been exposed to the virus (Epstein-Barr virus) at some point but many never even knew it because they lacked symptoms or just attributed it to feeling "run down" for awhile and forgot about it. Basically, no two cases are alike. Ok? I was just sharing a story, I know this already.
  16. The game is listed as being on WMLW on the Brewers website and on my TV, not FSN.
  17. Anyways, to sum up the roster here. Nieves is gone when Lucroy is back. Reed is gone when Hart is back. Kintzler is gone when Hawkins is back. Stetter or Braddock goes when Parra is back. And Mitre is likely gone when Greinke comes back, except that someone will inevitably be hurt or be struggling at that point, so you never know. The first 4 will be activated within the first week or two of the season.
  18. It would be a cool story to say you got stung by a scorpion as long as you make it out of it ok. Just a random topic of conversation at a bar or something. Like, "Yeah man, I got stung by a scorpion once out in Arizona. It was horrible, but of course I made it through it. That scorpion couldn't take me down." Lol.
  19. I don't see why Boggs wouldn't accept an assignment. If no one claims him, he obviously has no chance to be on a major league roster. He might as well stay here and be the first option if someone goes down.
  20. We definitely could use some power of the bench, that's for sure. If we are gonna keep two guys who only play 1B and a weak corner outfield, then why didn't we bring in Branyan? At least he can come in and hit a homer.
  21. Good answer. I can't see any reason talent-wise, and I don't think anyone else can either. Now we might lose Boggs on waivers instead of keeping him over Kotsay. Especially with Morgan on the team now there is absolutely no reason for Kotsay to be on this roster. Morgan is better than him, and should play RF until Hart is back. I would rather have the switch-hitting bat of Boggs, than another left-handed bat in Kotsay. Boggs also plays the field way better, and would've allowed us to keep Cruz over Almonte, because we'd have him as a righty bat off the bench and could then worry more about defense.
  22. http://brewersbeat.mlblog...tes-morgans-bad-boy-rep/ FWIW, Nieves says that Morgan is seen all wrong, and is actually a great guy on and off the field. He played with him, so he should know.
  23. The part that scares me is that Counsell is the only backup 2B, SS, and 3B now. Rickie will probably end up playing 160 games, so that's no an issue, but there will be some starts that need to be covered at SS and 3B. Hopefully, Casey stays healthy for the most part. Counsell won't be able to handle a ton of starts. This really hurts in terms of double switches, and being able to use Counsell as a pinch-hitter. Once Counsell is used, we have no backup 2B, SS, or 3B. Almonte will be of no use to us in the field.
  24. Well, time to go bang your head on a wall then. Cruz was outrighted and Almonte made the team.
