  1. Yeah, I don't see anyone in the rotation having an innings limit this year. Whether anyone else gets a shot will all be based on performance and injuries.
  2. http://brewersbeat.mlblogs.com/2013/03/29/narveson-to-begin-season-in-bullpen/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter Sounds like it's more a precautionary move, but either way it's good. RRR says Narveson could piggyback Lohse in his first start.
  3. Adam McCalvy ‏@AdamMcCalvy 2m Chris Narveson will begin the season as #Brewers long man. Fiers is in the rotation. Details coming to http://Brewers.com . This is some unexpected, but fantastic news. Gotta go with Fiers here. He's the better pitcher. Glad they made the right move. Narveson is a 5 at best, and was got lit up in almost all of his spring starts. I'm a little concerned with Fiers, but at least he offers some upside. And it's smart to give him a chance at least. Narveson also actually has experience in the pen.
  4. Melvin said no more players will be taken off the 40-man, so that pretty much guarantees a spot for Davis. The open spot needs to be used on Figaro or Hand.
  5. Yeah, he should probably go down and stay stretched out. There are already plenty of guys in the pen who can go multiple innings. Especially if Figaro is the last guy in the pen. I'd guess that Fiers will be the first one down by midway through April.
  6. I'm assuming that move was made to make room for Blake Lalli... One more move would have to be made for Figaro or Hand. It's likely for Figaro or Hand, and Davis will make the roster over Lalli. Melvin said no more moves will be made.
  7. I don't see Davis being on the team for an extended period of time this year. There just won't be enough at-bats. He can only play LF, so spot starts to keep him sharp won't be there. All of the other bench players will get their at-bats because of versatility in the field. If he is on the team, then yes he should be the top option. If Lalli is on the team over Davis, then scratch the Yuni at 1B stuff and insert Yuni as the top RH option off the bench. I do agree that it's ridiculous to not have a LH backup to Gonzalez, but that may happen. I am fine with Yuni getting at-bats against LHP, but if it's a situation where we need pop it should obviously be Davis. If Davis is on the team he will need those at-bats, I agree. I'm still not sold on him being able to produce as a bench bat though, and I guess we'll see if Melvin and RRR think he can. Although being on the 40-man also helps his cause.
  8. I'm sorry, but you're being a little bit ridiculous. There's no way he plays that much, even with RRR being himself. He might get a spot start here and there at any of the IF positions just to give a guy a day off, but I'd guess that most of his starts will be at 1B. Once Hart returns Yuni will either be released, or not play at all because Gonzalez will be ahead of him as a utility IF. Yuni will mostly be used as the top RH pinch-hitter, and I'm fine with that because most of his AB's will be against LHP. Saying he'll start 4 or 5 games a week is just over the top in my opinion. Weeks and Ramirez rarely take days off. Ramirez gets maybe 2 days off a month, and Weeks probably only 1. And RRR loves Segura. He's raved about him all ST. I think he'll end up getting the vast majority of the playing time, assuming he continues to hit.
  9. That probably is going to be the final roster, and Figaro will be added as the 25th man.
  10. They had interest before he signed with the Yankees, but I don't see it now. Would be too righty heavy on the bench. Now Gonzalez has stepped in at 1B. Although, a guy who can also play OF would make a lot of sense.
  11. He already said it's either gonna be Figaro or Hand for the 13th spot. Sounds like Fiers is the 12th man. Likely Davis over Lalli for the last spot, because they'll already need to clear a 40-man spot for Figaro or Hand. Personally, I don't see the need for a 13th pitcher. There are so many off days in April, and Kintzler, Badenhop, Gorzelanny, and Fiers/Figaro can all throw multiple innings.
  12. Yeah, I wouldn't mind Fiers in the pen if they used him properly. I just don't see that happening. Thornburg and Burgos would still be ready in the minors if need be. The unknown factor is Rogers. When he returns he may have to go in the pen. Not sure they'll think ahead to that now, but it could be a reason to just send Fiers to the minors and keep him stretched out.
  13. So Attanasio is already $362 million ahead then. Nice investment.
  14. Base on all of this, I'd say send Fiers to AAA to keep him stretched out, and go with Figaro as the long man. I'd prefer just dumping Narveson, but it won't happen. Saving Peralta's service time isn't a bad option either, but I definitely don't mind giving him the shot.
  15. http://i47.tinypic.com/2ccv6v9.gif
  16. I think this will turn around to bite them. Just a guess. Mainly because of his injury history, but also because he'll be aging near the end of the deal.
  17. I'm sorry, but the signing of Lohse doesn't exactly scream rebuild. It screams the exact opposite. The Brewers aren't anywhere near a rebuild. This type of signing shows that. Attanasio also basically came out and said that he plans to re-sign Hart. Another step in the wrong direction from a rebuild. It should happen, but it's not happening any time soon I'm afraid.
  18. Now THAT is something I can get behind. Two of my all-time favorites.
  19. Yuni is now the clear winner in this category.
  20. Luckily, I've already released all my anger about this on twitter. Couldn't be more upset. Especially since it's a major league deal.
  21. No, it's a major league deal.
  22. Bianchi is definitely getting DFA'd now, clearing a spot for either a 13th pitcher or Lalli.
  23. Yeah, I think he makes that start. May not go deep in the game, but I doubt they'll wait. Melvin said they might keep 13 pitchers until he proves he can go deep in games. He did say he threw 90 pitches in a scrimmage recently, so I think he'll be good to go.
  24. Yeah, Nashville fans should by pumped up to watch all those guys. That's a really strong AAA rotation. It's nice to have some pitching depth for a change.
  25. Sounds like he's slotting right in on Thursday. He's been throwing simulated games and was up to over 90 pitches already. I'm sure he'll be good to go.
