  1. Based on what I've seen from Escobar, I wouldn't be that upset if he got traded. I wouldn't be too happy if it's also Jeffress and Rogers. I kind of hope it's not Cain, just because I really don't want to watch Gomez and Dickerson play CF next year. Although, I guess Cain being involved would be ok if we get to keep Jeffress or Rogers. I just really don't know if we can get by with old guys like Renteria and Counsell manning SS this year. I don't see either of them holding up for the long haul. I guess a platoon would be ok, but it would be nice if we had some better options.
  2. Gallardo Marcum Wolf Pavano Blanton That's not bad at all. Doubt it will happen though.
  3. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/111885999.html TH makes it sound like the Brewers have a good shot at Pavano now. It keeps changing on a daily basis it seems like.
  4. Matt Stairs is the man! Love that he's still playing.
  5. No, very few teams have cheap up the middle talent. The Brewers do, but are reluctant to trade them because up the middle talent is scarce. Most teams have good major league or minor league talent somewhere. Might have to trade the house for him, but what I'm saying is that most teams could get it done if they wanted to. Although it would likely destroy their team or minor league system in most cases. Possibly in our case too.
  6. Don't want anything to do with Blanton. If we want to target someone in a trade other than Greinke, it might as well be Garza.
  7. It's Joe Blanton. And yeah I hope that doesn't happen.
  8. I'm pretty sure any team in the league has enough to get Greinke, it's just a matter of the players they actually have available to trade. I think that's the case here. We just can't give up what it takes to get Greinke. Wouldn't be a good move.
  9. This report basically solidifies what I thought before, and said earlier in this thread. We just don't have enough to get Greinke, and either way we'd have to give up way too much to get him. This isn't happening. I really don't think Garza is happening either. So basically we're set at where we're at unless we sign one of the injury-prone pitchers later in the offseason. Link from TH on it...http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/111799504.html
  10. Obviously if we trade Cain, Gomez and Dickerson will man CF this year. But what would be the plan beyond that? I would have to think it would be another few years before anyone in the minors could replace him. At this point I'd much rather keep Cain, unless he's part of a package for Greinke.
  11. From what I've heard we tried, and we don't have enough(or what they want). So not happening. If we did it would probably be done already.
  12. I would be furious with a 3-year deal, extremely mad about a 2-year deal, and upset but ok with a 1-year deal. Giving him 25 million for 2 years would be absurd.Well, you're not going to sign him for 1 year so throw that out the window. Can't sign him for 2 years either. Therefore we won't get him, which makes me very, very happy.

  14. Sorry, but I'd rather not have to watch Gomez and Dickerson man center field. Beachy isn't enough for me. Only way I'd trade Cain is as part of a package for an elite starting pitcher.
  15. Don't get me wrong, I love Prince Fielder, he's my favorite Brewer, but I want him gone now. I am just sick of hearing all of the rumors, and the last thing I want is to hear the unknowledgeable fans next year talking about keeping him here. It's not gonna happen, and I really don't wanna hear all of the ignorant fans thinking it will just because he's here on opening day.
  16. I don't think words can even describe how pissed off I'll be if we sign Pavano, much less to a 3-year, $30 million deal.
  17. Please, please do us a favor and sign with the Twins or Nationals Pavano. We don't want you here.
  18. I take it as, sure we're open to extension with the Brewers if they give us the money we want. That is pretty obvious, but it's also obvious that the Brewers can't afford that kind of money. So, all this talk seems pointless to me. It's unlikely anyone will offer anything until the deadline for Prince, and at that point if we're in contention we're better off taking the comp picks. The offers will be similar anyway, so I just don't see the point anymore. We might as well get what we can out of him this year, and hope we contend.
  19. I think a Jeff Suppan signing by the Royals would be more expected. We all know Yost loves him some Suppan. Then we can find some more fantastic sound bytes about how, "Soup pitched great!"
  20. I really hope he doesn't somehow win the backup job. This is an awful signing. Hopefully Doug finds someone better to bring in.
  21. I like this idea as well. But it will depend on if Cain can produce a good enough OBP to bat lead-off.I think that's a likely scenario. They might start with McGehee cleanup though to ease in Cain a little bit to see how he does. Then hopefully he plays well and becomes the leadoff hitter, which would allow Rickie to move to the 3 hole.
  22. I wouldn't mind this. They can still keep Counsell too. Young would just replace Inglett basically.
  23. Yes, please.
  24. Like I said before, Melvin is gonna be looking for someone who can impact the club immediately, so yeah I wouldn't say it's out of the question to target some bats if necessary. Then other players can be flipped for pitching.
  25. Frankly, I'd rather continue to deal with Gomez than have Kawakami. I think the best part about trading Gomez would be that Cain would be the guaranteed everyday CF. That's the plus side for me no matter who we get in return.
