  1. Gotta go with K-Rod now. Just simply because Axford has been so bad and he's next in line, and not really anything else. Might as well see what he can do back in the closer role. Whether they trade him or not, if he does well it doesn't hurt. He'd either drive up his trade value or he'd become a nice option as closer for next year if they wanna keep him. If he does bad, well then it's not much change. I don't see how he could possibly not be a better option than Axford at this point.
  2. Yeah, Axford in the setup role wouldn't solve anything. He'd have to be put in non-pressure situations for awhile, or earlier in the game. And yeah, Loe and Veras aren't the best as setup men, but might as well try it. Or call up Jim Henderson and see what he can do at this level.
  3. I'd give K-Rod a shot now to see how he does. If Ax has truly hit the wall, we'll need a closer next year. K-Rod is a good option if he can get it done. Gotta find out before we consider trading him.
  4. Looking like a Ziggler/Jericho feud. YES! YES! YES!
  5. We are still 8 GB. Votto being out does hurt the Reds, but it helps the Pirates and Cards more than it helps us. If we were alone in 2nd place, I'd feel differently about how much his injury impacts us. It's not like he's out for the year though either. Can't imagine him being out just a month will take them out of the race.
  6. The fact that we'd have to give up quite a few prospects from our already paper thin farm system to get him. And he's 29, not 25. And also, his slash is .251/.295/.339 this year.
  7. Not sure why Texas would want to replace Kinsler with Weeks in the middle of a pennant race, even if it meant acquiring Greinke. That seems incredibly far fetched to me. Not the dealing with Texas part, but the Kinsler part.
  8. Really, whether Greinke misses one start or not this season will almost certainly have no bearing on the season. I would hope Melvin realizes this and is willing to sit Greinke if it means a good chance of working out a deal. I agree, I'm just saying that I'm pretty sure Melvin would stick to his original guns and just wait until after the 6 games to decide to sell or not unless he was blown away by an offer for Greinke. If he was, and that team wants him to sit out Greinke, then I absolutely believe he would do it. It's a definite possibility.
  9. That's a pretty reasonable speculation. It's really odd that they'd just sit him out of the 2 most important series of the season. The only way I see that explanation being plausible though is if Melvin was blown away by an offer for him. Otherwise, I'd believe that he'd just wait until after the 6 games to work out a deal, and just have Greinke pitch.
  10. I don't see any team trading for him until after he makes that start vs. Philly. Too risky to trade for him before seeing him pitch again to make sure he's ok. Plus, he was lined up for that same start anyway, so it's not strategic. He's just skipping a turn.
  11. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/162645956.html#!page=0&pageSize=10&sort=newestfirst Roenicke admits it was stupid to start Greinke 3 games in a row. I honestly think they are partly trying to play this off as an excuse for his poor performance against Pittsburgh to keep his trade value up. They'll just hope he comes out sharp against Philly rather than risking another bad start on Wednesday. If anything, Greinke will have at least 2 starts before the deadline to regain the confidence of other teams, but just the one might do it.
  12. Dennis Punzel of the WSJ just tweeted that Greinke is currently playing catch in the OF with a trainer watching.
  13. It would make no sense to have him pitch the first game in Philly instead of Sunday against Cincy. My guess is he'll just basically skip a turn and pitch in his normal spot next Tuesday against Philly. He better pitch well, or his trade value will be vastly diminished. This really hurts the Brewers chances in the next two series as well. At least he would still get 2 starts in before the deadline to build his value back up, unlike Marcum.
  14. This isn't a big deal. Just give him a little extra rest, so he isn't fatigued going into his next start. Start him in the big series against the Reds well rested, and so he looks good for scouts in case we need to trade him. The Cardinals are playing bad right now, so hopefully we can get by this series without him. There's nothing official saying that he's not scheduled against the Reds yet. People are just saying that because the Brewers haven't announced anything yet, so the probable pitchers haven't changed. I'm guessing Roenicke will say which day he'll pitch later today.
  15. Keep him. Play him 2/5 until Lucroy is 100%, and even after that he's a better backup than Kottaras and is still a good bench bat. Having both he and Lucroy is a great problem to have. Great defensively with both, and either is a pretty good option off the bench. Use Kottaras off the bench as strictly a pinch-hitter, or trade him. Preferably just trade him for something. It's not like Maldonado won't be Lucroy's backup next year anyway, so what sense does it make to send him down now? He's better than Kottaras, plain and simple. Keep the best players. Just DFA Izturis to create space for Lucroy.
  16. I want to sign him, but the amount of money we'll offer won't do it. Therefore, we need to trade him. There's no doubt about it. Can't come away with only draft picks for him. Melvin needs to capitalize and get a good return for him. It makes sense to wait until after these 6 games, but if we haven't made up ground by then, it's time to trade him.
  17. The Brewers wouldn't back away, but them getting outbid by another team is pretty much a certainty. That's why I don't see anyway Hamilton ends up in Milwaukee.
  18. With how the hook ended up breaking, it would've been funny if it broke when Jericho was hanging from it. Then he would've won inadvertently. Vince would've been flipping out, and they would've had to make something up on the fly. Would've been interesting. But anyways, this was a pretty good PPV except for the stupid throw-in matches. The Sheamus/ADR match was average, but good enough. The SD MITB was outstanding, the Raw one was good also, and the Punk/Bryan match was great as well. Those 3 matches made up for the rest of the show. Cena winning sucked, but it was expected. The only thing better would've been Jericho winning, because it would've been interesting. Show, Kane, or Miz winning would've done nothing. Cena didn't need to win the match to get a title shot, they could've just given it to him.
  19. On the bright side, Roenicke didn't play Ransom for a week straight just because he hit a Grand Slam on Friday. I was kind of surprised that he didn't play last night. And Bianchi drew a start 3 days in. That's slight progress for Ron.
  20. I agree. I'm not a fan of it. They especially shouldn't've done it this year while the leagues are still uneven. There are gonna be a some cases where the 1st WC team finishes with a far better record than the 2nd WC team and ends up losing the 1-game playoff. That's not fair in my opinion. The WC winner should earn a 5-game series.
  21. That's not gonna do it. I doubt a 6th year would even do it. Probably would have to at least match Cain's deal to get him to think about it.
  22. ARam for Lee & Gould. Greinke for Olt & Odor. Done. Thank you. Yes, please. I'd be all over that.
  23. I like it, but no way #3 happens. DM isn't gonna trade Wolf unless we are selling, even though he really wouldn't be a huge loss. He certainly won't trade a bench bat like Kottaras either if we are in contention.
  24. Try to get Olt in a trade for Greinke, then trade Ramirez.
  25. I think there's a very realistic shot they can go 6-3. Best case scenario is probably going 7-2 or better, because that will probably eliminate some of the indecision on buying or selling, or at least make them wait it out longer. Worst case is probably 4-5 or 5-4 as someone said before, because then that indecision will be there. Probably 3-6 or worse will seal it up for selling.
