  1. Maysonet was actually DFA'd on 6/22 so he's no longer on the 40-man and would need to be re-added to be called up. If it's somebody not on the 40-man already, my guess would be Bianchi. Not true. He's still on the 40-man. He was DFA'd off the 25-man and later optioned. It was for some contractual issue. Weird rule. But he's still on the 40-man roster.
  2. The reason I think it'll just be Maysonet, is because I think they'll go with 3 catchers when Lucroy is back. If that isn't the plan then it could be someone like Schafer, because he'd actually be here for the foreseeable future then instead of about a week or so if we keep 3 catchers.
  3. I'd guess it's Maysonet, but whoever it is will likely just be up until Lucroy comes back. I think they'll keep 3 catchers, unless Kottaras gets traded. Maldonado will be the primary backup, and Kottaras will be used as just a lefty bat off the bench.
  4. He said it'll be made later this week after the all-star break. Link to story is now up. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/161731915.html#!page=1&pageSize=10&sort=newestfirst
  5. Per Todd Rosiak on twitter. Says that Brewers want to get him more AB's. Makes sense. Probably should've just done this when Ishikawa came back. There's really no opportunities to get him AB's anymore with Hart at 1B.
  6. There's already rumors that trades are in the works to clear up the logjam. There's a very good chance Gooden won't even be here, and wouldn't surprise me if one of Sanders and Udoh is gone too. Ilyasova will start at the 4, and Mbah a Moute and Henson will get backup minutes there, and Sanders or Udoh will backup at the 5. Likely some combo of Gooden, Udrih, and Sanders/Udoh will be traded for a wing. I will believe it when I see it. There were rumors of plenty of trades last year at the deadline, none of which came to fruition. The idea that any other team would actually want Gooden would come as a shocker to me. Don't worry, though, Ersan is our young guy, so it's okay to overpay him.... just like Redd, Gadz, Mo Williams, Tim Thomas.... There are plenty of teams that would take Gooden. The problem is that they'd be taking back a similar bad contract, just a player they actually could use instead of Gooden. Either that or Udrih's expiring or Udoh/Sanders will need to be shipped with him. It wouldn't shock me at all to see Gooden dealt. I think there's a very good chance that it happens.
  7. Also considering his spot was up with no one on base. Seriously there is no logic to taking him out with the game as close as it is. Roenicke's logic is that he though Ishikawa could hit a HR there, which is pretty bad logic.
  8. Agreed. With 2 outs and no one on, I would've just left him in at least 1 more inning, and probably more.

  10. Well there is reality and then there is a perceived reality. People will come on here and just like the FALSE rumors of Hart for Cain keep on repeating them like they are true every chance they can get. There will be some off the chart rumor that will be about Baltimore and someone will link Greinke to Bundy or Machado and that will then get made into Melvin was offered Machado and other prospects for Greinke but turned it down for something else. Yep exactly. That's why I'm saying that people need to cool down their expectations, and not automatically assume that because the Brewers are linked to a team in trade rumors, that they'll automatically be able to get their best prospects in return. That's just what seems to happen all the time. Just like the Hart for Cain made up rumor that you mentioned. People wanted to believe that was on the table, and then others started to believe that was actually true. I just don't get it. What is good though is that Melvin should be able to get a better return for Greinke if multiple teams are interested. It won't be top 10 prospects, but it'll be better than it previously would have. Competition is always good in these cases.
  11. Haha, I figured this Baltimore rumor would start the Bundy and Machado talk, but this is the same as the Profar thing. There's just no way Baltimore gives up either of those 2. They'd be really stupid if they did. Obviously Melvin is smart enough to ask for those guys, but it won't get further than that. It's fine to ask for those guys, but it's no realistic to expect to get them for 2 months of Greinke. Either way, both of those teams have other intriguing prospects that would be nice to get in a trade. It won't take top 10 prospects in baseball for Melvin to get back a nice return. People need to lower their expectations a little bit, or they'll immediately consider anything Melvin gets as a failure, when that shouldn't be the case.
  12. He isn't? That's news to me.
  13. The Pirates definitely could use another starter, but not sure if it would be Marcum. They may want to try to acquire one sooner rather than later, and Marcum likely won't be tradeable until right at the deadline due to his injury. It's always a possibility though. I agree that they aren't a match for Greinke. The only team in our division I could see going after Greinke is St. Louis, and it's questionable whether or not they could outbid Texas and Atlanta.
  14. There's no way Hart gets $15 mil/yr. That would be absolutely insane. I don't see any way Melvin pays that much for him. He may want to extend him, but not for that much. Ramirez got $12 mil/yr, so I think that's more in the ballpark. Still, maybe Melvin will just ride out this contract and then deal with it.
  15. I'm with you on this one. I've been in the camp of trading Hart while he value was high for a few years now. Now that's even more of the case. Except I fear that his success at 1B will make Melvin and Attanasio want to extend him for 3-4 years for a contract they may regret and keep him there. I'd probably rather just get a good return for him now, and put Gamel back at 1B next year. Because with Hart at 1B, we'll just be back to the Gamel conundrum again. However, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to have Hart at 1B. If it was actually a reasonable deal to keep him, it would make some sense. I just feel that they could get a good return for him at this point. But maybe they just plan to let him go into a contract year next year, and not extend him. Maybe trade him next year at the deadline if need be.
  16. If we aren't even considering trading Hart, it's pretty obvious that he'll be extended this offseason.
  17. Pretty sure they use it all the time during the offseason. They leave the roof open a lot in the offseason no matter what the weather is.
  18. It's pretty sad to not trust a single person in the bullpen. But that's where I'm at right now. Don't trust anyone. Not one bit.
  19. We may have the worst bullpen in all of baseball. No matter how good our starters and offense are, we have 0 chance of competing with this pen. Absolutely pathetic.
  20. Our CF platoon is very, very stupid. They both make some of the dumbest decisions I've ever seen. We've seen prime examples the last 2 days. Gomez on that last play, and Morgan yesterday trying to get to second on that Ramirez error.
  21. Looked like Estrada was favoring his quad again there. Pulled up a little like he did the first time he injured it.
  22. Of course they decided this after they closed the roof last night and it never rained. It was a sauna in there. Horrible decision. At least they learned from it.
