Can't say I don't want Olt. I think the guy is gonna be a stud. However, starting pitching is clearly the biggest need going forward. Followed by SS and bullpen. So I gotta think that Melvin will be targeting young arms, probably like Perez, in a Greinke deal. That's what makes the most sense. Right now, the only sure thing in the 2013 rotation is Yovani Gallardo. Fiers looks like a solid option, but that still leaves 3 open spots. Can't really fill all of those with guys like Thornburg, Peralta, and Estrada and expect great results. Maybe use one of those guys, but could use a couple other solid starters.

I wouldn't require that Profar be included, because that just won't happen, and Texas is still the best team to deal with. Don't want to just walk away from dealing with Texas just because they refuse to include a top 10 prospect in the deal. I'd probably try to get Olt or Perez though. But I agree, I wouldn't let the other teams dictate who we get. Definitely at least aim for Olt or Perez. The Braves have a lot of good, young pitching to go after too.

I don't even want Braun in the derby, so I could care less about this. He needs the extra rest. He's not the greatest guy for a derby anyway. Guys like Fielder and Stanton fit the bill perfectly. Don't get me wrong, I'd still like to see him in it. But in this case, it doesn't really bother me at all. He has nagging injuries to rest this year. Wouldn't bother me if he sat out the game too, even though I know he won't.

I might be inclined to agree if we were trading away a few years of service. However, we'd be trading away less than 3 months. All we would need to do is get more value than the draft picks (and whatever Greinke provided those 3 months, even though that doesn't really matter since we more than likely will not make the playoffs). I'm also not directing this at just you but a lot of people keep screaming to sign Greinke, as if the FO hasn't tried or doesn't want to. Almost everybody here would obviously love to resign him but the fact of the matter is, Greinke is a stud pitcher and stud pitchers usually get top dollar. We're just not in a position to be able to give him what he's asking. And for those that want to sign him to whatever it takes, I don't want to invest $25+ mil/yr in one player who plays every 5 days at a position that carries the greatest injury for risk. At a certain point, you have to walk away when the investment is just too much. These are my thoughts exactly. Couldn't have said it any better. Teams like the Yankees can afford to throw $25 mil/yr at pitchers, but the Brewers can't afford that. It's just not justifiable for a guy who impacts 30-35 games a year. Based on the past with CC and Prince, it seems like our best offer may be 6 years, $120 million, and that may be pushing it. Greinke won't take that either. He'll try to eclipse the Cain deal. I just don't think that money is worth it unless we're talking about a player like Braun, or other MVP caliber player like Fielder. But that kind of money won't get most of those guys either. It's just how it is for a team like the Brewers. Gotta be realistic with expectations. The goal when trading Greinke would be to get a better return than the draft picks they'd receive, preferably including young, MLB-ready pitching that can help next year when our rotation will lose 3 starters.

It would be pretty funny to trade K-Rod back to the Mets, and get more for him than what we gave up. So essentially it would boil down to them giving us prospects to take K-Rod for a year, or basically getting him for nothing.

Must be only singles left at the moment. I can only pull singles, standing room, or diamond box if I check online. Since it's a "Gold" pricing game, they should be $48 for infield and $42 for outfield. I don't think they'd give out different bobbles at the "club level gate", which is a gate that you could use to enter the stadium. If you're in the club level you can go in any gate you want. The club level gate is just a courtesy as far as I can tell, with a shorter line. And I'm pretty sure they let anyone in with a ticket in any section in that entrance depending if there's little to no line. After you go in the stadium then you go up to the club level where you show your ticket to someone at the door who then lets you in. This is exactly right from my experience. And my 20-pack is in the club level. I never even use that entrance actually. It's usually no better than the others.

Exactly, if the game is going to mean something than the fans are the last people who should be deciding the starting lineup. Maybe they can help select who makes the team, but the manager should pick the starters.

Yeah, that was really inappropriate. I agree. Most people were just dancing around, not caring about the situation. It was way too serious of a situation for stuff like that to be going on. Wasn't very respectful in my opinion. But maybe a distraction is what they were going for, I don't know. Either way, I don't agree with it.

I was at the game today, and I know everyone around me was concerned at what was going on. I'm very sad to hear that he passed away. That is just a shame. Puts everything into perspective. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Don't see how this is possible. You have to first go through the gate to get to the club level. That means everyone who is on the club level would get 2 bobbles.

Also, DDP is apparently the former star on Raw this week. I'm really looking forward to that, I've been a big fan of DDP since the 90s. Loved him in WCW. I really wish they had come up with better storylines for him while he was in WWE.

Apparently there are 4 more qualifiers for the WHC MITB match, so could be 9 or 10 people in that match. I could see ADR and Mysterio getting added to the WWE Tittle MITB match too. Those 2 and The Miz are the only other former champions who could be in the match. I doubt they go with just 4 people in that match. Then I hope it's Sheamus vs. Ziggler again.

If it's a deal with Texas, and something like Derek Holland and a few prospects for Greinke then I'm ok with that. Pick up a young starter who can step right in and is under control for quite a few years, and also get some prospects back. That's the kind of deal I could see Melvin doing.

I moved my seats to the club level this season mainly for this reason. I have a lot of Sunday games in my package, so they are hot in the summer. In the club I can just go out in the concourse, and into the A/C for awhile if need be. But otherwise I've been uncomfortable quite a few times before. I still don't think it's necessary to have A/C though. It wouldn't be used enough. Maybe 10 times or so a season when it's overly hot.

I have to agree at this point. Mainly based on the rumored return from the Dodgers for Carlos Lee. I have a feeling that the Brewers could get a ton for Hart at this point.

I saw this too. Doesn't shock me at all that they'd go after him. I think it'd a horrible idea to sign him to a huge long-term deal, especially instead of just giving the money to Greinke. Although, I doubt he signs here anyway, so it's probably a mute point.

I agree. I'd just take him as an add-on in the deal. He'd at least be a pretty good option at SS for next year. Still not sure who will take that spot. Might be Gonzalez coming off a torn ACL if we can't trade for anyone.

Pastornicky would be a throw in. That's what we're talking about here. And I'd be fine with that. We'd obviously get other, better prospects in the deal also.

I like the idea of acquiring Pastornicky, because he's a guy who could step in and play right away. Plus, he could easily be had in a trade at this point.

I hate the Henson pick with a passion. We now not only have a bigger logjam at PF, we have a logjam of PF who are horrible offensively and all do the same things on defense. Our best defensive option in the post is Drew Gooden. That is bad. This also guarantees that Ilyasova won't return. Dalembert also brings nothing defensively, so the majority of the time we'll have no scoring in the post. Should be fun watching our three skinny backups, Henson, Udoh, and Sanders, get pushed around in the post all year long. All while we have no length on the wing, so opposing guards tear us up as well. Watch, Hammond will now overpay for someone like Jamal Crawford or Nick Young. That would be just fitting. Make it even worse. Although, if we drafted a wing, he would've overpaid for guys like Landry and Kaman. So there's really no escape from the idiocy of John Hammond.

While I think objectively I agree, here are the Brewers' compensatory & supplemental 1st rd. picks from the last 4 seasons -- 2009: Kentrail Davis (1s, for Sabathia), Kyle Heckathorn (1s, for Shouse), Max Walla (NYY 2d, for Sabathia) 2010: None 2011: Jed Bradley (for the Dylan Covey non-sign from '10) 2012: Victor Roach (DET 1st, for Fielder), Mitch Haniger (1s, for Fielder) In this case, you might toss out the Bradley pick since it wasn't from letting a player walk. But my larger point is that the Brewers haven't yet done very well 'letting [Player X] walk for comp picks'. That's more about identifying talent for draft day than it is about operational strategy, but I think too often as fans we just assume good value will come from comp picks. So far, the '09 picks have been completely disappointing. Hopefully Roach & Haniger fare better. The main argument for not just letting him walk is that we can get more major league ready prospects by trading him. If we just take draft picks, they likely won't help for 3-4 years, and that doesn't help us compete in the next few years.

No it doesn't. We claimed Hector Gomez, which is why Kintzler needed to be DFA'd.

I'm not saying he won't be a good player, I'm just saying 14 would be a reach for him when he could probably be had in the 20-25 range. He'd be a good trade candidate if the Bucks say traded back for 21 and 22 from Boston or something. Boston is for sure picking him if he's there at 21, so trading down would have to be... I dunno... Houston at 18? Ha! He'll play small forward, he's definitely in the "point forward" mold, and rebounds very, very well for a guy his size. His off the court issues are incredibly blown out of proportion (I think, at least), and Milwaukee would be the perfect spot for him (the same way it was for Greinke). Watching his highlights, I feel like his ceiling could be Paul Pierce esque. If you trade back with Boston and get 21 and 22, they can't take him at 21 lol. They would be trading up to get someone else at 14. Then we grab White at 21 and someone else at 22.

Absolutely, I agree. My point was just that Profar isn't happening. Texas is still the best team to deal with. They are stocked in the minors. Olt is probably unlikely as well, but he's at least possible. I like the other guys you mentioned though. Gotta figure they'd all be on the table. Melvin won't make a Lee type deal here, but what he at least might look for is major league ready pitching. Most likely starting pitching, so Perez or Grimm would fit that bill. With Perez just getting recalled today, it makes me wonder if it was, in part, as an audition for possible trades. With Greinke, Marcum, and Wolf all likely gone after this season, it would be nice to land at least one good, young starter in a deadline deal.
