  1. I wouldn't trade Kottaras personally. He's way too valuable as a bat off the bench for this team. If there were better options besides him on the bench I'd think differently, but that isn't the case. Yes, Maldonado can replace him, but I wouldn't do it during this season because of the lack of offense on the bench. If the bench can be somewhat bolstered at some point, then maybe, but I don't see that happening until the offseason.
  2. I just saw Mike Vassalo tweet that Gonzalez was only activated because he had to be, but he won't be back until tomorrow.
  3. Not sure why Gonzalez isn't back in the lineup. I hate seeing Izturis in there.
  4. I agree that they need to scale back the statues and just start letting more people into the Walk of Fame. The next statue will probably be Ryan Braun. Molitor probably deserves one, but don't see it happening.
  5. New personas yes, but Tensai is a completely new character and name. HHH basically just went from Hunter Hearst Hemsley to HHH, not a huge change. Kane has pretty much been the same, except he was Isaac Yankem, but again that was for a very short time like Skip Sheffield. Ziggler was only in the Spirit Squad for a short time, and not many people knew who he was when he came back. Stone Cold developed from The Ringmaster, but again that was just his initial character for a short time like the other guys. Foley basically just had a bunch of alternate personalities as his characters. Albert was Albert or A-Train for his entire time with WWE from 1999-2004. It's not like those other guys you mentioned were their initial characters for 5-6 years and all of a sudden changed. I guess it's a little different because he was gone for awhile, but it sure seems like most people remember who he was. Most guys end up something a little different than their debut characters, or morph into a new characters. This just seems different to me. I don't mind it really, it just seems pointless to change his name in this sense. Especially when they acknowledge who he was in the past.
  6. I don't think you're crazy--I like it, too. I'm a big fan of the pagentry of his entrance, I like the Japanese accomplice. I like the head markings, the japanese influence of his moves. He's a good athlete, he seems limber enough. Love the Baron Von Raschke claw at the end of matches, the green mist. . .He's got me hooked. I don't think people have a problem with the gimmick. It's that they refuse to acknowledge him as A-Train or Albert and want to call him Lord Tensai. Why can't he continue to be A-Train or Albert and just be a bad dude who dominated in Japan who now took on the Japanese influences? I understand when low-level or unknown guys change names but its stupid when well-known guys do it. Exactly. Just like I said before. It makes no sense to not just have him keep his old name. They could still use the whole thing with how he dominated Japan, but he doesn't need to be Lord Tensai. Almost everyone knows that he was Albert. It's not the same as Skip Sheffield becoming Ryback. Albert was a well known guy who was in WWE for a good number of years.
  7. Melvin showed interest in Carroll at the trade deadline and in the offseason. He chose to sign with the Twins. Gonzalez was king of the last resort it seemed. At least he plays good D, and that's most important.
  8. Basically all they had to do to get him over was have him beat Cena. Now he's legitimate. Doesn't really matter what his character is. He could've been built as a monster just being Albert too. Just a bigger and badder Albert. But anyways, Raw was alright. I'm liking how the Punk/Y2J feud is going. The Lesnar/Cena feud is also going well so far. The rest of it was kind of blah. Was glad to see Bryan get time. Love that they are going with the Yes! chants. He even changed his special move to the Yes! Lock. Would've liked to see Brodus Clay get to have an actual match with Ziggler instead of that interference crap.
  9. Well, it's basically people chanting because they think it's stupid that he didn't just come back as Albert. I tend to agree, because so many people know who he was and aren't really buying into the new character. I don't mind it I guess, but not sure it's necessary to have him by Lord Tensai to get him over. Cole and King are even acknowledging that he used to be a WWE superstar, which I find weird. Then they just say he dominated Japan. They could just say that anyway, and not have to change his character, so it doesn't make sense. It would probably make more sense if they just didn't acknowledge it all.
  10. I still don't understand how people can be so down on Ramirez and Gonzalez 10 games into the season. I realize a lot of people were against at least the Ramirez signing, but it's way to early to judge. For all we know he could turn it around like he always has and put up numbers like he did last year. If that happens, then it wasn't a bad move in my opinion. Gonzalez will be fine, and it's easy to see he'll be leaps and bounds over Yuni in the field. That's all that really matters at that position. I just don't understand all the negativity this early in the season. Gotta give it more time before ripping on, and wanting to tear down half the roster.
  11. The decision to use Kottaras was made well before that game really. Roenicke said he would always use Kottaras in situation where a hard thrower is in the game. Mainly because he's a good fastball hitter. Not really sure if it would've made a difference who was up there for that at-bat. So I can't really criticize Roenicke for it.
  12. The bench is what it is really. There wasn't much Melvin could do with the funds he had available. Ishikawa is horrible, and should be replaced with Conrad. Other than that, Izturis is probably the best option. The only other options really are Farris, who doesn't play much SS, and Maysonet. None of those look that great. At least Izturis can field, and has experience. Not a big fan of him, but not much Melvin can do about it. I really don't think there's a huge need for a LOGGY. It's a nice luxury, but it's not necessary. At least Parra is there as a LHP. Most of out relievers, with the exception of Dillard and Loe fare well against LHH. I could see Dillard being replaced by someone else, maybe McClendon. Stetter was also re-signed to a minor league deal, so wouldn't be surprised to see him up as a LOGGY later this year. Not sure it will really be necessary to have Estrada, Parra, and Dillard all in the bullpen later in the year. The only change I see coming soon is Conrad replacing Ishikawa. Conrad is just more versatile, and will actually be able to get some playing time to stay sharp. Ishikawa really is only a starting option at 1B, and I don't see Gamel sitting much at all.
  13. It's too bad we can't just morph them into one player named Nyjer Gomez. He would be a really good CF.
  14. I've definitely heard about this, but not sure if I've seen it on here. Great topic. I think it's awesome what he is doing. Good luck and Go Brewers!
  15. Marcum was looking at something on his finger in the dugout. Hopefully he isn't getting a blister. Seemed like something was there.
  16. Marcum is pitching really well. It's a shame the offense hasn't been able to pick him up yet.
  17. This is pretty much already being talked about in the other Greinke thread, so not sure if this will stay open. It's a good topic though. As I said over there, I'd try to keep Marcum on a 3-year deal and exercise Wolf's option. It's a lot smarter financially than going after a similar pitcher in free agency. Go with Peralta or Fiers in the open spot in 2013, then in 2014 after Wolf's gone plug another young pitcher in. Then in the years after that hopefully more young pitchers like Jungmann and Bradley will have developed and be able to make an impact and the rotation will be in good shape without making any big money signings like Greinke or anyone else. There's really no reason to rebuild in my opinion. They can get by this way, and ease in their pitching prospects one at a time rather than throwing them all in too early or at once.
  18. Yep, Lucroy 6th and Izturis 8th. Figured it would happen. He hit 8th when he played for Ramirez.
  19. Just watching Morgan this year, and even last year, I think Aoki could easily take his place. With how Gomez is looking too, he could even start most games with Aoki playing against tough RHP. I highly doubt we'd see much drop-off at all without Morgan. Gomez is a superb CF, and he has more speed. Doubt we'd miss Morgan much at all. Aoki puts up much better at-bats too. He fits in fine at the top of the order. Gotta figure Morgan will have a fairly long leash though given how he played last year, but it's pretty obvious that he's been outplayed by Gomez and even Aoki in limited at-bats.
  20. Dekker will really need to step up this year with Uthoff gone. He'll be thrown right into the fire.
  21. I can't say I have any issues with how Roenicke played that. You can't load the bases with K-Rod on the mound, especially with how he was looking last night. And it did turn out that he walked the next batter. I agree with the infield being in there, because as people said before we faced the prospect of going against Kimbrel with a deficit and that usually equals a loss. Roenicke clearly didn't want any runs in there. However, not sure they had to be all the way in. Could've played medium depth and possibly still been able to cut down the run at the plate. Gonzalez and Weeks both have strong arms. I can't really complain with how he played it though. There's an argument for both sides, but it's hard to criticize his decision.
  22. That doesn't mean the manager agrees with you. Well I'm basing that off the fact that it already happened in the one game Izturis started. So yeah, pretty sure he does agree.
