  1. Aoki can handle lefties just fine. I'm pretty sure he was good against them in ST and Japan. Yep, he has even splits his whole career. That's why I would've made that move.
  2. I would've played Hart at 1st today and gone with Aoki in RF. Ishikawa against a lefty won't be good.
  3. I agree. He's much better on 1250 than he was on 620. Still not a huge fan, but I like his new show better than the old one. He definitely doesn't need 4 hours.
  4. http://brewersbeat.mlblogs.com/2012/04/24/narveson-to-have-season-ending-surgery/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter Season-ending surgery is now confirmed for Narveson. Very unfortunate to see, but no unexpected. Hope he can recover well enough to get back to the pitcher he was. Not optimistic though.
  5. yeah if it wasn't for the postgame show i wouldn't even have the station on my dial. i used to love listening to 1250's nfl drarft coverage but don't know what is worst, listening to the big unit for 5 hrs or mel kiper. NFL Network has pretty good coverage. I usually check that out, because ESPN coverage tends to piss me off. Especially with how Berman ruins almost every pick early in the draft before it's announced.
  6. Crap, this sucks. First Rome is gone, and now DP. Horrible decisions on both.
  7. That's a good point. Can't afford to put all of our eggs in one basket. Never know what could happen. I don't see 5th starter as big enough of a need at this point. It could become a need, but that remains to be seen.
  8. Yep, Oswalt really only wants to play for St. Louis or Texas at this point. He said that all along. I don't see him signing anywhere else. It's just not a smart move from the Brewers standpoint either, mainly due to where the price will go. I'd rather give Estrada or a young pitcher like Peralta a shot than go with Oswalt. There's a point where you need to see what you have for next season. Signing Oswalt for anything beyond this season would also basically end talks of re-signing Greinke. I just don't see it as a Melvin type move to throw millions of dollars at a veteran starter mid-season. Especially when Oswalt has looked less than sharp last season. And HiAndTight, I have no idea who told you signing Ramirez wasn't going to happen. He had interest in the Brewers all along. The odds seemed pretty good of that happening. The K-Rod trade came out of nowhere in a sense, but again it's not like he was out there for a high price. Signing Oswalt just isn't something that Melvin will do. There have been no rumors of it, and Oswalt doesn't have interest in playing here.
  9. It would be easier to get AT&T U-Verse with wireless DVR. Can take it anywhere around the house. Garage, backyard, upstairs, downstairs. I don't have it yet myself, but looks pretty cool. Of course you have to live in range to get U-Verse. I plan to get one of these soon, because I have U-Verse and it would be awesome to watch outside as you are doing.
  10. And where will they get the money for this? Payroll is maxed out and then some. Not happening.
  11. I agree, seemed like an obvious situation yesterday to get him at least one inning, if not two. Today it was the 9th inning of a 2 run game.
  12. I agree that Gamel will likely be an option in the future, but Roenicke won't want to put that pressure on him yet. Hart needs to be in the 5 hole, unless you move Gamel to the 5. Which again probably won't happen yet, because Roenicke wants to ease him in. Is batting 2nd that much more pressure than batting 6th (or 7th), though? If you're batting 6th, you're presumably going to have plenty of RBI opportunities with Braun, Ramirez, and Hart batting before you. Yeah, I don't really think it is. Seems that Roenicke does though. He said all along that he wanted to bat him 6th or 7th. That's really the only reason I say that. I guess there is some pressure hitting in front of Braun, but in the past it's actually been a nice play for guys to hit. I know Hart and J.J. Hardy both had some great success hitting in the 2 hole. I think Gamel could do well there. I also don't see why that extra pressure is there in the 5 hole over the 6 hole. Hitting behind Fielder definitely was tough, but hitting behind Ramirez isn't really the half of it. We'll see how it plays out I guess.
  13. Good stuff. Always liked Frank a lot. Wish he would've stuck around as a bench bat.
  14. I agree that Gamel will likely be an option in the future, but Roenicke won't want to put that pressure on him yet. Hart needs to be in the 5 hole, unless you move Gamel to the 5. Which again probably won't happen yet, because Roenicke wants to ease him in. This is a lineup I could see being possible later in the year. Weeks Hart/Gamel Braun Ramirez Hart/Gamel Lucroy Gonzalez Morgan/Gomez Pitcher
  15. The main reason Roenicke insists upon guys like Gomez and Morgan in the two hole is because of their speed and bunting ability to move runners over. Although, we haven't seen much of that yet this season. I personally don't think Gomez is that great of a bunter either. He could definitely use more work on that with how fast he is. He could bunt for a lot of hits. When you look at it there really aren't any better options in the 2 hole either. Lucroy could be an option, but I'm sure Roenicke would be worried about his lack of speed. He definitely has bunting ability though. If Gomez goes back to his old ways, and Morgan continues to struggle, it wouldn't surprise me to see Aoki starting most games and possibly leading off with Weeks in the 2 hole.
  16. I agree. We're two weeks into his first season. Gotta give the guy more time. Takes more time than that to even get used to him.
  17. Yeah no kidding. Injuries with pitchers are pretty common. Not that that has been the case for Greinke, but still any pitcher has to look at Narveson's injury and say hey that could just as easily happen to me. If that happened to Greinke he'd lose a ton of money. Some guys just don't go the financial security route though. They just hold out for the big bucks.
  18. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/148328925.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter Here's more on the situation. Makes it sound like the plan was for Estrada all along, and that he's the plan going forward. Not that Peralta isn't starting due to possible nerves.
  19. So you would send Peralta down after Estrada gets stretched out? Who should be the long man, then? McClendon? Yeah, Peralta can't be kept as a long reliever. He needs to be starting in AAA. McClendon and Parra should fill the long relief role just fine. If not, maybe Fiers or McClung is an option. Should be fine though. Maybe if Parra is more of a long reliever, Stetter could eventually be an option to step in as a lefty specialist. Just saw on twitter that Roenicke said Estrada can throw 70-75 pitches tomorrow. Shouldn't take him more than another start after that to get stretched out. 70-75 tomorrow, 85-90 the next, then he should be good to go.
  20. Why would we not start Estrada if the plan is to go with him from now on? Estrada can give us 4 innings, and be piggy backed by Peralta. That won't mess up the bullpen. Estrada needs to be stretched out if he's getting the spot, he can't do that in relief. That isn't enough reason to just give the start to Peralta. Estrada will be fully stretched out after a few starts. Not a big deal.
  21. I agree Ennder. Not sure why people are so up in arms about it. It was pretty much expected, and rightfully so. Peralta is the second option as a replacement starter behind Estrada.
  22. The Brewers clearly think of Estrada as their #6 starter, so he gets first crack. They might change their minds if it's a long-term injury, but it's understandable if they want to delay Peralta's service clock. I'm not so sure that Peralta would be that much better than Estrada for the rest of this season, with it being his rookie year. I'd give Estrada first crack, and if he struggles Peralta should get his shot. Makes sense to me. Not sure why so many people are pissed off that Estrada is getting the nod for now. It's not like he's just handed the job for good. He's just the obvious first option. It doesn't bother me to try to hole Peralta back so he doesn't use up his service time right away.
  23. Wily Peralta is supposed to start tonight for Nashville, if he gets scratched we know he's starting tomorrow for the Brewers.
  24. Wow, that really sucks. Must've done it in one of his bullpens. I'm guessing that's a long-term injury. I hope Peralta gets his shot. Still a blow to the rotation though.
  25. This pretty much sums it up. First step is Hammond and Skiles getting fired, then Kohl sells the team, new owner builds an arena, and finally the team is good again. Won't happen, but I can still dream that it will at some point in my lifetime. It's more likely that Hammond will stick around and further destroy the team, Kohl will keep the team until he dies, new owner will move the team to a new city, and that's that.
