  1. Not saying it won't work out for him eventually like it could for Gamel. I just feel bad for him getting put into that situation when he clearly has the talent to be with the big club. Just like Gamel did. That's not to say that he isn't better for him to be in AAA, just that he basically played well enough to win a job, but still won't get it. With Ramirez around, he likely won't get his shot to play everyday for a few years. Not sure he'll be kept around that long. May not have that same luxury like they did with Gamel. Might need to use him in a trade.
  2. I agree that Taylor Green deserves a spot on the major league team, but it's obvious what their thought process is here. It's the same as it was with Mat Gamel. They're saying, well he's not gonna get a lot of at-bats in the majors, so we'll send him to AAA so he gets to play every day and continue to develop. Could end up being the same situation. He'll keep bouncing back and forth, getting a limited opportunity whenever he's up. Then he'll either finally get his chance like Gamel, or he'll be traded. It's sad, but true.
  3. Well, seeing as Izturis has been told he will make the team, I guess the search for a replacement is over.
  4. Anyone have a spot open in their league? Mine's not taking off, so I'm looking for one to join.
  5. Jaramillo will be the starter at Huntsville according to McCalvy and Haudricourt via Gord Ash. Rivera's job is in jeopardy. Phillips will likely backup at AAA, and de la Rosa at AA.
  6. Looks like we have an almost set roster now. Green, Braddock, and Maldonado were all optioned to AAA. Leaving the roster at 29 players. Izturis was also informed that he has made the major league roster. That leaves 2 spots left to be decided. One pen spot between Dillard and McClendon, and the last IF spot between Conrad, Maysonet, and Ishikawa. I don't see Maysonet making it though now that Izturis has a spot. I'm guessing it'll be Conrad getting the IF spot, and Dillard getting the bullpen spot.
  7. I guess we'll know tomorrow whether or not Izturis has a roster spot. Pretty sure I read he's due a $100,000 bonus tomorrow too.
  8. Not necessarily. Really all it does is create 2 spots for the backup IFs, and 1 for Rogers. 1 of the backups will be Izturis, the second could be anyone. That being said, I'm sure Maysonet is in the mix or he would've been sent back to minor league camp already. Izturis hasn't exactly lit the world on fire.
  9. I'm not so sure Conrad makes it (actually I hope that is the case). RRR mentioned that Aoki is so good against LHP that he could actually be their "RH" bat off the bench so to speak. Plus, they seem to be taking a long look at Ishikawa, which I like. Yeah I know he's not a lock. I guess I should say Conrad or a different backup IF. Because I don't see them keeping Green as a bench player. I have the feeling they'll want him in AAA getting consistent at-bats. Basically, both backup IFs will need to be added to the 40-man.
  10. Basically, if Izturis can play good defense like he has previously in his career, he'll be fine. Defense is really the only requirement for a backup SS. It's not like whoever the backup SS is will be getting a ton of pinch-hitting opportunities. Those will go to Conrad/Green, Kottaras, and Aoki. And Morgan when he's coming off the bench. Izturis will essentially only play on days when Gonzalez needs to rest, or as the last man of the bench in rare situations. Melvin is likely looking around for a possible upgrade, but I honestly don't think he'll go out of his way to make it happen. And by going out of his way, I mean trading anything besides a low-level or paying someone like Theriot when already over budget. He'll just go with Izturis, and look for a possible upgrade at the deadline if it's not working out.
  11. Not sure why we need another catcher. We already will have Maldonado and Rivera in AAA. And Kottaras isn't going anywhere. If he was, Maldonado would take his spot and Phillips would take the spot in AAA.
  12. Pretty sure Schafer will just be recalled if Hart has to start on the DL. There just aren't enough spots left on the 40-man to add an OF on top of the likely adds of Conrad and Izturis. I think the only reason Schafer was sent down to begin with is because all of the at-bats in the ML games will go to Braun, Morgan, Gomez, and Aoki for the rest of ST.
  13. Braun's facial expression in this pic shows my excitement for Opening Day! http://bdnpull.bangorpublishing.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/112311_braun.jpg
  14. Yes, obviously they are hoping he's ready. But everything I've heard makes it sound like missing the first 4 games is best case. There's just not enough time for him to get the at-bats. Roenicke said that he wants him to get enough at-bats, because he felt he rushed him back last year. It's basically, they are figuring he'll miss the first 4 games, and there's an outside chance he'll make Opening Day. I don't see a reason to rush it though. I'd rather see him get the extra 4 days of at-bats.
  15. I still feel bad for Sloan that he never got a championship. He did come close with Malone and Stockton though. Maybe he'll come back somewhere though. I still think he will.
  16. Yeah, which is why the actually amount of in-ring time will be limited as I said. I don't see a lot of time being left over after the top 4 matches. I have a feeling that none of the other 4 will be very long at all.
  17. I saw that too. I think someone said it on twitter. It was definitely Phillips.
  18. Hart played in a Minor league game today. It's highly probable he will be ready for opening day. Nope, everything I've read said he'd be ready at April 10 at the earliest. Even he said that. And April 13 if it's too cold in Chicago. He would've been ready if he got in games earlier. I'd say more that it's unlikely he'll play Opening Day, but there's still an outside chance. I just saw McCalvy say that Schafer would just be recalled if Hart wasn't ready. They must've just wanted Schafer and Gindl to go to the AAA side to get at-bats.
  19. Not sure why Schafer and Gindl are both gone when Hart won't be ready for the reason. I guess they're going with Ishikawa then for some reason.
  20. Got my tickets! I'm ready to go!

  22. That Roque, Woodard, Wright stretch is brutal. I was so thankful for Ben Sheets after that.
  23. Mark Walter will be the controlling owner apparently. Well, Guggenheim Baseball Partners is technically the owner, but Walter won't be running the team. Stan Kasten is running the day-to-day operations.
  24. Sorry, I should've clarified that it's his ownership group that are the new owners. Pretty sure he is the majority owner though.
  25. Morosi is now saying the price was $2 Billion. Confirmed here. http://www.laobserved.com/archive/2012/03/dodgers_announce_sale_to.php
