  1. I think the Bucks have reached the point where a ticket package makes sense. I bought an 11-pack and split it with a sibling, I think the total was $2175 for 2 seats to 11 games in the lower bowl, they are great seats but not right at midcourt where the cost explodes. There are some great games in there; the home opener, about 5 weekend games including one with Miami, and the Golden State game. I'm probably overpaying for Tuesday night with Indiana, but I got sick of wanting to go and then backing out because one single game would cost $450. Setting a schedule ahead of time makes it much more likely to go. 11 games for just over $1k to see one of the best teams in the league in the lower bowl is a great value imo. I made the decision not to renew my Brewers tickets so it just transferring an expense elsewhere.
  2. Beauchamp will get to play. I think they are just doing the whole rookie thing right off the bat. I will say he looks pretty explosive based on his one bucket, definitely a strong athlete. I agree though that he needs to find solid minutes eventually. With the construction of this roster they badly need one of those types to pan out. I was at the game last night and was struck by the amount of open seats on a home opener on a Saturday night. I was in the lower bowl and my row was empty. Lousy opponent yes. But it was 70 degrees on a weekend. It wasn't what I'd call low attendance but I was just surprised by how many empties there were.
  3. Bucks open Saturday! Edit: Thursday?
  4. Netted 15 yards on a kickoff trying to be cute. Just kick it out of bounds..
  5. Likely the ballgame, though it wasn't looking so hot anyway...
  6. I'm not so sure that is the problem. Everyone seems to have forgotten that their offense has been very productive for extended periods of time without Adams playing. Everything just looks bad. There's no way it crashed that badly because of one guy and I'm highly skeptical OBJ or anyone they can trade for would solve any problems. I see poor WRs, bad line play, a regressed Dillon and Rodgers as all to blame.
  7. Cobb reacted like his career was over.
  8. Key distinction: I don't know where we wind up from here, but that said, this is very reminiscent of the 2010 season. We lost back to back games to go to 3-3, both in OT, to middling teams and our offense looked horrible. I remember being certain the season was basically over.
  9. I honestly don't think anyone joining the Big Ten is going to make it that much harder for UW. When SEC teams start joining, then sure. Don't get me wrong, there are teams that can beat UW, but I don't think it's going to have a major detrimental effect. We shall see.
  10. I'll just throw out that I think the Badgers win out or get very close to that and have this ship righted in the next year or so. I wouldn't call myself a Badgers fan but I think the reactions (not just here) to the recent struggles are a smidge overboard.
  11. I couldn't care less about the Packers getting home field tbh. Do I think they are going to the Super Bowl? No but that isn't much of a prediction. I've just learned my lesson when it comes to anointing them as this or that during the regular season. I think they are a lower tier playoff team this season but lots of those teams find their stride at the right time. Oh well. Hope they figure it out, but I try not to get too invested anymore. It is just not worth the anguish you can let it become.
  12. It really doesn't do either Leonhard or Leipold any service to be eager beaver about becoming the next HC. I think it is JL's job if he wants it and they show any kind positive growth. But Leipold's best course is to say he loves Kansas and watch the sacks of cash pile up at his doorstep. Same thing for Leonhard, it makes no sense to say he's UW forever, you never know if Auburn comes knocking. I don't mean that realistically, just that there isn't a lot for a coach to gain by babbling about stuff midseason.
  13. Not a bad idea; at this point you never really know if he'll be back the next season. Edit: Didn't see the last couple posts.
  14. I get the feeling you'd be way less forgiving of the Packers blowing two 17-pt leads in 4 weeks. Everyone is more critical of their favorite team and amplifies their flaws.
  15. Eh, well, they weren't the worst Brewers team I've ever seen but they were possibly the least entertaining. I possibly had more fun waiting for Kevin Seitzer to bat 25 years ago. Hope this gets blown up.
  16. Chryst could have demanded more and gotten it per the terms of his contract.
  17. I think Leonhard is the guy but you're shortchanging Leipold. He has over a decade of success in CFB, yes most notably that's in Whitewater but it is relevant because Wisconsin is not Ohio State. He had to find diamond other schools were ignoring and that's what he'd have to do at UW with more resources. Beyond that, Whitewater immediately stepped back without him. He was brought to Buffalo to make them respectable, did so quickly, went to Kansas and has them on the right track immediately. I'll repeat that Leonhard is the guy but I also don't think Leipold's age really matters at all. His youngest kid is like 17 now and he's 58, not 78.
  18. I could be mistaken but I thought I read Joe Thomas was completely disinterested in coaching.
  19. The 2-2 Ravens who've blown two 17-pt leads in a month? The Rams who got blown out and then squeaked by Atlanta and Arizona? The Cowboys have done a nice job with a backup QB but they have 2 wins against NFCE opponents not named the Eagles. I dunno. None of those teams have looked any better than the Packers really. Almost every team has had the exact same kind of "concerning" moments. Buffalo is good and Kansas City looks like the same old ridiculousness on offense. Other than that I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if half your list ends up missing the playoffs. It would look cool if we were winning games by 20 and Rodgers was on another MVP trajectory but it wouldn't change the fact they'd have to keep that up for 4 months and it's almost useless to look that good this early.
  20. If Rodgers doesn't like Watson it is possible that he just sucks. Lots of guys are 'great athletes' and never materialize. If he is constantly not where he's supposed to be then I don't blame Rodgers not trusting him. Hopefully that all sorts itself out. WR is not really a big concern of mine. When you have a great QB it just seems to work itself out over 16-17 games. OL has time to gel. If I had to pick my largest concern, it's the run defense which should be a strength of the team and is consistently getting gashed. As far as "looking like a contender," again, I ask who does? Dallas with Cooper Rush? The mass of contenders sitting 2-2? Certainly nobody in the NFC has looked all that amazing and that includes Philadelphia who will eventually run into an opponent that forces Hurts to throw 35 passes. The entire NFC East is sitting 3-1 or 4-0 and do we really think the Giants and Cowboys are better equipped than the Packers? I don't. This is not to say the Packers will waltz to the Super Bowl but I think the field is very favorable to them. But that's gotten them nowhere. They have to make the playoffs and show up for once. Until they actually make the Super Bowl I'm convinced they'll find a creative way to choke again. But it's not because of some sloppy play in Sept/Oct that has me worried. Lots of good teams barely squeak by 'crappy' ones. It happens to everybody every year. If you go down the line, fans of most teams will bemoan how close they were, how many games they barely lost, etc. The margins between 6-11 and 11-6 in the NFL are usually pretty thin outside of some awful teams. I mean the Packers could conceivably be 1-3...but they're not.
  21. Let's not forget the Packers offered Leonhard a job so this is not just about him being from WI, he is held in a very high regard in the sport. He is very young and unlikely to be poached. He has an NFL pedigree and can't be a worse recruiter than Chryst just based on personality alone. Maybe he won't make a difference but there are a lot of reasons to think he's a good hire and I don't think they put a lot of stock in wins and losses as a DC/OC or are even considering the defensive performance against Illinois. Hiring CFB coach is so much less Xs and Os than the NFL. That is obviously a part of the job but they are asked to do so much more.
  22. Just my hunch that if Leonhard is the guy they have already made that decision and short of going 0-7 he will be the next HC. It would be a bit odd to me to think he's your next HC and then decide he's not because the team we've already seen look pretty awful didn't save itself and finish 8-4 after an in-season firing.
  23. They gave Leipold a huge raise this past off-season, extending him for 6 years or something and ultimately paying him $16 million. He'd for sure make more at UW faster. I don't think Kansas can do a lot better financially or they would have done it already.
