  1. They're fine. I'd love a hat with the grill logo on it.
  2. Doesn't Portis have a player option for $4 million? Now that the title shine is gone, I'd imagine he declines that for big FA money. He can certainly get more than $4 million. Not sure what to do with Lopez. The blogosphere is cold on him right now and he did look gassed, but he also missed the entire season. I doubt he was in the best shape. He's an old big though. He probably has some value but not in the role we're used to.
  3. Warriors will win it again.
  4. Yes and that's fine. There are no guarantees of anything. Barring catastrophic injury, they'll be right here again for the next 2-3 years, a top 4 seed with a real chance of being in the Finals. Retooling refers to filling out spots 6-8, which somebody is going to have to do anyway. That is really the margin they are working with; they have to get PJ Tucker, not Serge Ibaka.
  5. You guys are dressing it up a bit much. Most rosters aren't going to be real deep when the top 3 guys are a world class superstar and 2 all stars. If you take one of those guys out, it's tough sledding, particularly when he's the best shooter you've got. You'll beat the Bulls, but it's going to get tough against that upper echelon, which is certainly what that Boston team is. Middleton is a bit of a rollercoaster but he'd have been good for at least two 30 point games. When they get it to 85-81 in game 6, you can count on him to hit some shots. I just have a hard time wrapping my head around firing the coach and the roster construction when we played the entire series without an all star. It's asking a ton to beat the Celtics without him...and they almost did it. The Ibaka trade is definitely a fair criticism but the unfortunate injury is what doomed the Bucks. The NBA playoffs are a grueling slate. You have to get lucky. We got really unlucky, with the injury, and then the ensemble cast just completely unable to hit a shot down the stretch. They'll be ok, but definitely some retooling to do.
  6. PC doesn't suck. He's good at filling the exact role he's got on the Bucks. We tried to fill an all-star-sized hole in the lineup with George Hill, PC and Grayson Allen. Unfortunately 1/3 was ok and 2/3 were absymal. As Bud just said, we weren't as healthy as we'd like to be, but nobody cares. Somebody had to elevate, probably in game 6, for us to advance. Nobody did.
  7. It went 7 games because the Bucks are really good and fight like hell. The Celtics are lucky Middleton was hurt. They missed him on both ends of the floor, badly. It should be apparent to anyone who watched this series that he was so badly what the Bucks needed. There just was no reliable shooting threat at all if Giannis couldn't get inside. The Celtics have to guard the Bucks completely differently if they have to account for him. Stinks that the Bucks lost, but this take that they 100% lose with him is a few peppers too spicy for me. You can't take the 2nd best player off a team and assume the same result of a 7 game series. C'mon. We're all upset they lost. I get it.
  8. You can't shoot 15% from 3 and win. Your defense only matters so much. They shot terribly, they never had Khris to stop the bleeding on long offensive droughts. They never got the peripheral player to show up and perform. It was Giannis or Jrue in the games they won. They definitely had a chance but they needed that random 25 pt Lopez game or Grayson to go 7/7 again.
  9. I'm sorry, but there is no possible way anyone knows how this series goes with Middleton available. This isn't DiVicenzo. It's an all-star and one of the best shooters in the league. I keep seeing this hot take and it's just an emotional one. He changes the series completely and give me a break, it went 7 games.
  10. Yeah, it's this. Allen is a very good shooter. They need shooters on the floor. He's blowing chunks. Unfortunately it happens, and the loss of Middleton made it insurmountable.
  11. It's a huge ask to get by arguably the conference favorite without your second best player and the only guy on the roster who consistently can create his own jumper. I won't get too down on the Bucks. That was a brutal injury to deal with. I'm just happy it didn't happen last year.
  12. Allen stinks, but I don't blame Bud for sticking with him. They desperately need someone to provide a boost offensively and they don't really have the luxury of benching historically good shooters. 3/19 is the story of the game so far. They just can't continue to shoot like this.
  13. Giannis sure has a knack for doing some awfully dumb, reckless stuff.
  14. What really sucked about last season vs. other flame outs was that the team was REALLY good. It is just still such a shame they not only couldn't finish, but went out so sheepishly. It's one of the reasons I'm over the moon about the two guys they added. They usually lose by way of some glaring hole you can see all season long. I don't know what happened that night, but it just wasn't the same team that played all year (well, other than the ST). I'm so stoked to see what they can do defensively.
  15. Wondering if any among our ranks have taken up overemployment with the Covid-remote job explosion, i.e. holding multiple FT jobs simultaneously from home...
  16. I love the direction they are going. Just overload on premium defensive talent. Rodgers is year to year, so having a great defense if and when he chooses to go away is the best thing they can do. And if he is this incredible QB (he is) he doesn't need Davante Adams to win. They definitely need to bring in at least 1 WR from some place, but both picks are exactly what I was hoping to see them do with two first rounders. Anything else in the draft is gravy, I am just elated they used both premium picks on impact defensive players.
  17. I don't anticipate the Packers doing anything fun at WR. I would guess someone like Golladay, a couple draft picks, and crossing fingers that Amari isn't a joke. If they're gonna pay Rodgers a bunch of money and keep a competitive team on the field some concessions have to be made. WR seems logical given that the QB is supposed to be all world.
  18. It is WAY easier to justify paying what they paid Rodgers than paying Adams. I've seen this movie before and the Raiders are usually the star. Have fun when Adams has 500 yards in 2 years and they're blowing up another 6-11 team.
  19. Thank God. I had mild anxiety about the Packers appeasing Rodgers by signing Adams to some insane contract and it looks like they were about to do it. It's a hard pass for me on a 30 year old WR. A bit disappointed he turned out to be a total turkey with the whole dramatic "insulted by negotiations" stuff. But whatever. I'm happy with the return and just relieved to get rid of that kind of albatross contract.
  20. Cooper Kupp was traded?
  21. Yeah, IDK. I originally said a 4th, but it just takes one team love his athleticism. So a 2nd wouldn't be totally shocking to me. I mean Favre got a 1st and had done literally nothing in the NFL. Totally different situation, but he's a QB and I guess you never know what could happen.
  22. Whichever rookie QB(s) go in the 1st round this year will be in the 1st year of their contracts, Love will be in the 3rd year of his contract. A player's talent isn't the only thing that determines their value. That cuts both ways, Love has 2 years of NFL experience and would therefore likely be considered more "ready" than most rookie starters. That's a bit of a stretch. Without a slam dunk QB in the draft even the first one picked is likely to be a bit of project. Love has experience but not a whole lot of game action. It is full of nuance and much more situational than you are making it out to be. "League consensus" means what anyway? All 32 teams? 17 teams? If 5 think there is someone better than Love and 4 of them are thinking QB that affects what the Packers would be able to do. If the Bengals think Love is better than anyone in the draft that doesn't mean they're trading a 1st for Love.
  23. I think Love would net a 5th. Maybe a 4th. A 3rd would be a dream.
  24. I think about 90% feel this way. Nobody wants to watch the Jordan Love/journeyman vet show, but I think most feel like this team isn't winning a Super Bowl as constructed. It sort of feels like everybody wants to move on but not live through the painful part. It feels more shortsighted than most of what this team has done for the last decade.
