  1. The median may be more useful, not sure if it is significantly different. The average is 3:11, but I've been to plenty of 3:45 games. I think for me, the time feels longer because the only games I watch all 9 innings are games I'm attending. And with all the travel time it is basically an all-day event when coming from an hour away.
  2. I was also hoping this would happen but figured it wouldn't.
  3. I genuinely like that signing? The guy started 11 games and has 5 interceptions. I doubt this is the next all pro but it seems pretty rare you can just pick someone like that up off someone's practice squad. Definitely seems worth kicking the tires.
  4. Packers Twitter is apoplectic right now. I mean, did these people JUST start cheering for the Packers? What in this team's history made anyone think that they would make a move on Gilmore? I mean, I will admit that a sliver of me got intrigued, but it just isn't a move this team makes. Packers Twitter, and all Twitters, are always under the impression that acquiring a player is just flicking a switch that says Do You Want This Player? Yes/No.
  5. 3 hours before first pitch.
  6. I don't think baseball is overdue for playoff expansion and I think they've found the perfect balance. I don't want a watered down playoff where 12 or 14 teams are playing an actual playoff series. It's the only major sport where just making it is a huge achievement and something the fans can really celebrate. I was OK with 4 teams, I think 6 is too many, but I accept the play-in as a way of extending the value of regular season. Without it, there is little suspense in the West and no reason for any non-division contender to keep winning. You'd have a pretty meh fight in the West over who is 1 and who is 4, the Brewers coasting for months, and the mediocrity battle out East.
  7. So the winning team potentially burns through 3 SP, 2 of whom play the same day, and then has Game 1 three days later? I think what we have is better.
  8. I think some of the tension was that he's not actually very injured. He was milking that to not play for them.
  9. He was going to be a FA, so he was probably looking for the 3-yr extension type of deal. Now that he has no job, you may be right, but I'd guess he is looking for that last real contract now, instead of when he's 32. He may get what he wants as several teams need CB help.
  10. Yeah I'm already not sure what I'd do if that scenario presents itself. I'd for sure attend at least one WS game...but potentially making like $5k on 3 baseball games is awfully hard to pass up.
  11. Don't see how the Packers land him even without any knowledge of their financials. He was unhappy with his contract and I don't think the Packers are a team looking for a longer-term solution at CB with Stokes and Alexander around. Packers are probably limited to young no-names and vets looking to hang around for 1 more season.
  12. It was great to watch the support the Bucks received downtown, but let's be real for a minute. A huge portion of that crowd was like 17-25, it was summer, it was free to be there and there was essentially no enforcement of the drinking age. Hopefully we get to see what a World Series ticket costs.
  13. I think $500 is way low unless it's 0-3 and the game is Tuesday night or something. No way you're getting in the door for $500 (remember the fees are insane) for a Game 1 in Milwaukee. My guess would be more like $800. Stadium may be bigger but the World Series in your hometown is, as another poster called it, a bucket list item for a lot of people. This is a baseball town before a basketball one, with a much more far reaching influence across the state.
  14. Looked up the answer. Astros do by virtue of better intra-division record.
  15. Who has home field in an Astros-Brewers WS?
  16. Florida is a horrible sports state. It just is. It always has been. All these things about the stadium's poor location may be true, but no team in that state gets strong support until they are knocking on the championship's door. In every sport. They just don't care.
  17. Yeah, you can't, that's the point. The only way you're guaranteed to have a ticket at the World Series is by purchasing your postseason strip. Just having a playoff ticket was the holy grail for me about 10 years ago, but they've been good enough where I just want to do the World Series and probably a clinch game of the LCS. If they do finally make a World Series...that's probably the end of my time as a SSH.
  18. I'd like to see the Yankees win. I'm all for a Brewers-Yankees WS.
  19. Here the thing about resale of tickets: We have one group that hates re-selling because it allegedly drives the price too high for the average fan. We have another group just buying tickets they've got no interest in using, solely to re-sell. But then we have the third group, pretty regular Joes of perhaps some modest affluence, who would never be willing to pay secondary market prices but can maybe afford the $1k per seat on season tickets. The Brewers then essentially back these folks into a corner and tell them the only guarantee of a World Series ticket is if they buy an entire strip of postseason games (that they know they can't attend). This strip of 13 games is 2-2.5x more than their entire 20 pack. This fan is now, (hint: it's me), $6-7k in the hole on the season...and for all intents and purposes is now all but forced to participate in the secondary market re-sell just to finance their own 2-4 games they want to attend. The re-sale end up just being an effort to recoup some of the money you've already spent. If they just said "Pick 4 playoff games you want, we'll guarantee your seat, send us $1000 and we're good," I'd just do that. But that isn't what they do.
  20. That is only if you sell tickets purchased at pre-sales, like the one for the NLCS tomorrow. They've never done any kind of discipline for people selling their season ticket strip. I know they will revoke your account if you sell a certain number of regular season games, which I think is anything more than 50% of them...which is silly, because generally any non-Cubs game sells at a loss.
  21. Something that doesn't get mentioned is that to qualify for the payment plan on playoff tickets, you have to renew for the following season. My strip was $4,000, but unless I pay that $4,000 up front, I'm forced into renewal if I want the installment payments. I could front the $4k, but it's frankly really annoying, and the refunds come through at a molasses pace, so you are still forced to pay a $4k credit card bill while waiting for a refund that takes FOREVER to come through. The slowness of the refunds is the exact reason I do use the payment plan, because at least if the Brewers lose before the WS there's a chance I won't be billed at all for the final payment. The team does quite a bit of understandable but shady billing stuff like this, so I don't really lose sleep over resale of tickets. I think their stance on resale is fair. Your strip is fair game and they leave it alone, they just don't want you to resell the presale tickets. I think that's reasonable.
  22. Someone else can correct me, but I don't think the math allows for this.
  23. Roof might be closed for Game 1. But a little too early to tell.
  24. I don't think anyone cares how you feel about it. How many threads does the same group of people have to try to send off the rails with this stuff? It's just people talking about the ticket market for a game. Some of us are interested in that sort of thing. It's always funny though how the same group has no moral dilemma about a buying $7 club ticket in May that a season ticket holder paid $47 for. The morality of face value only applies when it benefits the buyer on the secondary market, I guess. There are myriad reasons why people sell a ticket, most of them not evil. I can't go to either game this weekend; I buy the strip because I want the World Series. I'm not going to every playoff game. Logistically impossible. At the point where I have to sell a game I can't attend, sorry guys, but I'm extracting the highest re-sell value I can out of it. I'm not handing it over at face if I don't have to. When you float $4-5000 on playoff tickets, I might care about your opinion of reselling.
  25. It is nobody's "fault," it is a sport. Many other sports operate this way. The divisions serve a good purpose regional play and winning one should be worth something. If the alternative is that a division champion that wins 94 games doesn't make the playoffs because of a wild card that won 100, I think that's worse than what we have, personally. I'd also be against re-seeding the teams so that the Dodgers get a 2 seed.
