  1. "The Greek Freak" doesn't exactly have freakish athletic ability to go along with his nickname. Compared to some ‘freaks' in the NBA, Giannis Antetokounmpo might appear relatively normal. Giannis doesn't 'explode' out of the gym with his leaps and he won't blow past anyone with his speed either.
  2. Getting chased around just to cross half-court takes time off the shot clock and gets exhausting and that piles up if it happens every night. Holiday made it look easy to do, but it's not and he must have been exhausted. From the time Holiday started doing that, the average time the Suns took to cross half-court would have ranked dead-last in the NBA during the regular season. It threw off the rhythm of their offense, which looked almost effortless with ball movement the first 2 games of the series.
  3. The Suns were destroyed on the glass almost the entire series, particularly offensively. Connaughton was out-rebounding Ayton by the end. The %s of three are somewhat misleading as the Suns mostly shot high % the whole series but the looks started getting harder once the Bucks adjusted and the attempts went way down after the first 2 games. Holiday picking up Paul before they could cross half court was arguably the biggest move of the entire series.
  4. Would put the Packers last as I think they squandered their last Rodgers-led title run by blowing it last year. Just feel that they are headed for regression this season and then another divorce so I'm not expecting SB quality teams for at least a few years. But maybe Love is the third coming. The Bucks and Brewers are both right there with some lucky breaks.
  5. I've seen this 1000 times in sports. A guy has a great moment as a fill-in for a couple months. Says he loves it. Rumors swirl that he will stay because he liked it in whatever city. Then on the first day of FA, some crappy non-contending team signs him for $90 million. That is probably what happens with Portis. I guess there's a chance they make him a better offer but that option will 100% be declined. And I think they need to be really careful keeping him, even though everyone is going to say that they should.
  6. I'd genuinely rather have DDV than Boggy going forward. I think he fills a niche better for this roster. Aside from the tampering penalty, not getting him was a total blessing. Boggy is another streaky, soft shooter. We don't need that, and we wouldn't have Portis and possibly not Tucker if that had gone through. Replacing DDV is not something I'm even slightly worried about; rather I think his best days are ahead. I'm assuming Portis and Tucker are gone and that's where my concern is.
  7. I'm in Janesville, (about 70 minutes from MKE), and they said Bucks gear was allowable for Tuesday for a "casual" day, and conservatively, 70% of the people at work had Bucks shirts/t-shirts/jerseys on, except for the front office people, who are stuffy losers. For most of the playoffs since we took out the Nets, the Bucks have been pretty heavily talked about by most of the "sports fan" folks I work with. I'm 20 miles north of Milwaukee, and I split season tickets in the late 90's/early 2000's. I don't currently and I don't ever remember owning any Bucks clothing. I don't think I've worn any Packers clothing since 1998 either. 40% of my wardrobe is probably Brewers related though. Lack of supply had been an issue in the past with Bucks gear. When the new ownership group took over it was one of the things they noticed immediately and mentioned with the Journal Sentinel. They got to Milwaukee and couldn't find a shirt for their team.
  8. With the Bucks financial situation they likely can't keep guys like Portis and Tucker and multiple titles over the next decade will depend on how often they can pick those pieces up at under-market prices. I've never been a huge proponent of running back the same group no matter how successful. It rarely seems to work and infusing new role players always felt like the way to go. You'll still have years it doesn't work, but I don't think Portis is someone you can commit to long-term when he's likely a flash in the pan that's going to make a ton of money because he had a nice run at the right time.
  9. DDV is fine. The worst starter isn't going to be a superstar. Portis has to be gone unless he fell in love with MKE to the point of lunacy. Someone else is going to pay him a ton of money, it happens every year with some Finals role player.
  10. Name a better combo than Kyrie and watching your team get eliminated while you're on the bench. The Nets being healthy "next year" is a huge assumption. And how many years is that going to go on anyway before one of them gets bored and goes somewhere else? The Nets will be the favorite, but I'd be more intimidated by something like Dame going to Philly or Kawhi ending up in Miami. Either of those makes those teams the favorite IMO, and yes, above the Nets.
  11. I know most of us love the Bucks but the majority of Packers fans that reside north of like, I dunno, Fond du Lac, don't really care about the NBA. There are loads of them that "refuse to support athletes who XYZ." I think Rodgers over-estimated the fans taking his side, but I also think there will be more than enough people willing to fill Lambeau Field and give him a standing ovation and continue to demand we go out and trade for Hopkins, Julio and Mike Evans because it's the least we can do to serve our great king.
  12. I'm not going to rag on PC too much here. He didn't score but had some key rebounds in this game. I don't know if I could have shot free throws in that moment knowing I was soon going to get a ring! The Bucks don't win the title without Pat's contributions this playoffs. Same for Portis and Tucker, it took about 8 guys to get this done. He had a poor shooting night but there were a couple nights he was one of 3 guys hitting shots.
  13. Yeah, who knows, I just meant that I think it was possible that they knew his heels were dug in and they threw the offer at him anyway knowing he'd say no and they could look at everybody and say "we offered him a record deal, not much else we can do." While that would be true, I think Gute is satisfied with either outcome. He'll take Rodgers for a few more years but my random gut feeling is that he is totally content to move on without.
  14. The Nets will be the favorite but I don't see them winning unless they tack more ridiculousness on to that roster. The injury thing is going to be a problem for that team every single year and they are not getting younger. My personal hot take is that their Big 3 as it stands is not ever going to win a title. Lakers will be back again, but you'd think somewhat soon LeBron is slowing down, though I don't think that's 2022. Dame may end up somewhere else, teams change. But the Bucks will be fun to watch and they got their title and that's all I wanted.
  15. I agree on the contract and I figured the team leaked it now for that exact reason. If he skips 4-5 games he should not see the field at all. I think he drastically over-estimated the fans taking his side as well.
  16. I think we'll win in exciting fashion and it wouldn't be as fun to look back on if it were easy tonight.
  17. It's not so much the low fg % for me but they were not getting any good looks in the 2nd quarter.
  18. Not a conspiracy theorist but I always get worried about the league just giving the nudge to "hope" for a longer series. Middleton having 3 fouls, that kind of thing.
  19. I do sort of regret not hopping on the actual seats which were $6-800 the night we beat Atlanta. Just no way of knowing when the clinch game is, though.
  20. I think the point is less about Archer and more about how that team just wasn't all that good and they over-invested on the back of a good week that happened to coincide with when big trades happen. If the Brewers had acquired CC Sabathia and he sucked for them, it would be hard to fault them because they were definitely in the race when they did it. The Pirates had CHC, MIL and STL right there.
  21. The Bucks have been the dominant team outside of Game 1. The loss in Game 2 was something of an anomaly. It's been shaping up that the Suns essentially have to shoot out of their minds to win, and even if they do that, they still can lose. The Bucks are the better team. The Bucks are at home. The Bucks have the best player in the series. The Bucks should win.
