  1. Seems like an odd line in the sand. It's arguably their largest position of need. And you're that upset it's not a different guy?
  2. I dunno why anyone lets themselves be upset with the pick. I've never quite understood it unless it's like a backup QB or kicker or something. The rest are total crapshoots. Nobody knows who will pan out and who won't, or how quickly a position you think is well stocked becomes one of need. I'd be fine with an OL, DL, WR, basically anything.

  4. I don't think comparing Favre's interceptions to the guy who's thrown the fewest ever is all that unreasonable when both are in the Hall of Fame and pretty unanimously the top 12 or so to ever play. We're talking about separating the best of the best. An interception is the single biggest play that can happen in a game, so it's not an insignificant detail to me. The difference is that Rodgers is top 3 and Favre is top, I dunno, 8-12. And I'd take it one further and say that the trend in risk averse and accurate passing is in large part because of Aaron Rodgers.

  6. It's weird to me anyone would point to SP and say we need that. I literally take anything right now besides SP. A very good pen arm or anyone who can hit a ball would be preferable. Not that another starter isn't helpful. But it's at the bottom of my list. I have no issues with back end starter by committee all season.

  8. In 2020, the league averaged 65.2 % on completions, and 3800 yards passing per game, and a 2.2% int rate. Just 13 years ago, Brett's last year in GB, the league averaged 61.2 % completions (pretty significant), 3400 yards passing, and had a 3.1% interception rate. It's not a HUGE change, but it's significant. The league is definitely slanting more towards accurate, risk averse passing, and passing more. Bit of cherry picking to take 2020 when Rodgers is 37 and was a lock for the HOF like 5 years ago. I don't think anyone will argue that teams pass more than they did in 1997 but I'm not even looking at the stats to say Rodgers is better. He does more things than Favre and does just about every one of them better, besides turn the ball over. Accuracy and mobility aren't close, he has a better deep ball, I guess he gets hurt more...and I call baloney on Rodgers couldn't take a pounding. Rodgers has taken plenty of bad hits. I dunno how anyone can look at Rodgers and say he couldn't play in the 90s...it sounds a bit extreme. It's fair to say his stats are inflated over Favre's, which I said first, but the two aren't all that close IMO when you're talking value added to a team The great divide is the turnovers. There was more tolerance for them in the 90s but the gap between them transcends it. It's enormous.

  10. Unless you meant the state of the Packers at the time each started playing. Then I think it may be more valid.
  11. I don't think Rodgers plays well in Favre's era nor vice-versa. Both were what we needed when we needed them. What does this even mean? Their eras are barely separated and they played against each other for 3 years. Rodgers is one of the most accurate passers of all time. He would have done just fine in "Favre's era" and vice versa. They both had other worldly skills and rocket arms. People always mention the eras in regards to the stats as if Favre played in the 1960s. It's such an overstated thing.
  12. Personally I don't think Favre is even that close to Rodgers. The stats maybe inflated a bit for Rodgers, but not that much, and I'm not one to rely much on championships or title appearances, but just the eye test and body of work make Rodgers the clearly superior player in my eyes.
  13. The Nagler take is what I believe too but it's based on nothing other than I never got the impression Rodgers didn't like playing in GB. Rodgers has a massive ego and wants the commitment. He doesn't like that he can't control the situation. It's understandable but he still has a massive ego.
  14. I wish they'd drop the "He wants to be on the West Coast!" thing. It just sounds made up, and like it matters. Being an NFL player is a full time+ job during the season. He's not going to tape Jeopardy after practice. They say it as if he has to go home and shovel his driveway in GB or something. Rodgers hasn't shot this down though, so there's definitely some fire here somewhere. What's also interesting is what happens to the team if he goes back in the fall? The rest of the guys really going to rally around a dude who doesn't wanna be there?
  15. Because of course.
  16. It's an entertainment product to me. May as well go play for the Bears and make it as dramatic as possible. I think we kinda blew it already with last season anyway so I don't have a lot of faith in Rodgers winning a SB here anyway. Part of me is OK with ripping the bandaid off now, but it's still sad if he goes out like this.
  17. If that's accurate, it won't work. The Packers won't eat $20 million to make Aaron happy to go play some place else. The Packers are nothing if not shrewd as a organization.
  18. I think this has more to do with the lack of a splash move, and less to do directly with Love. I think Rodgers could have co-existed with Love, but wanted to see a commitment to him. There were cap constraints there, but he probably wanted to see come creativity. The Packers appear to playing both sides of the fence, willing to run with Aaron for a couple seasons, but on their terms, and leaving the door open should the right offer come by and they decide to move forward with Love and a lot of money. Two parties looking out for themselves first.
  19. I don't have an issue with either side. He wanted more say-so in things, they didn't do it. Lots of big names get say-so these days. Nothing wrong if he wants to have that, nothing wrong with the Packers saying no. Sometimes it's best for both parties to move on.
  20. 100% about air flow and particle dispersion. Yeah, so much for this. The roof has been open exactly one day, despite an unseasonably warm spring and multiple days it would have been fine with temps above 65. And they don't really care about masks either. "We'll open the roof more" came right from the PR department.
  21. The problem I see is that they will likely be seeded 3rd which means being paired with probably Philly in the 2nd round and Brooklyn after that. I can see them beating Philly or Brooklyn in the ECS. But then having to beat the other the next series, AND beat whoever make it from the West? Just a very tall order. The top seed getting that breather against #4/5 feels relevant this year because the top 3 are so clearly better than the bottom 5. We don't really know who the best in a series is until the playoffs start and the starters see more minutes (hopefully Bud gets that now) but I'm just not confident the Bucks are good enough.
  22. The NBA allows you to subscribe for the whole league or just an individual team. Not sure why MLB is making this so difficult. So does MLB. Single team mlb.tv is a thing. The blackouts are the problem. You can circumvent that with a VPN but it's another fee.
