  1. "They're done"? Come on guys. It was one game and they were 6/30 from 3. Did you think they would sweep Brooklyn? The biggest issue last night was the Bucks missing open shots. They will be better.
  2. I didn't feel like the defense was a major problem. Middleton's performance was a big disappointment. You're just not going to beat the Nets shooting 6/30 from 3 and your 2nd option bricking it up with 12 points or whatever. They were going to lose multiple games in the best scenario. Hopefully the shooting is random and not a trend.
  3. That won't cut it unfortunately. I'm not really worried yet because they shot so poorly, but it does feel now like they have to win on Monday.
  4. I wish you could build missed 3s into Giannis's contract as a negative bonus.
  5. I said this somewhere many pages ago, that getting the 2 was a big deal. That said, this has been such a dud I don't think it would matter where it is. Hopefully this is some Game 1 farting. Really disappointing though.
  6. I said the exact same thing to somebody. It's always some random scrub that ends up hurting us. And again, Giannis bricking free throws looms large. From potentially down 4 to down 9 in a blink. Pathetic showing thus far considering Harden was hurt in 40 seconds.
  7. On paper they definitely have the most talent. But even when their stars have been all healthy and in the lineup this year, they haven't looked totally dominant. Sometimes no matter how much talent a team has, they don't mesh great. And the Nets have had so many injuries to their key guys this season, they haven't had many opportunities to play at full power. There's only one ball on the court. I don't think the Nets are by any means head and shoulders better than the Bucks unless this series shows otherwise.
  8. God it's nice to play some bad teams. And what a move Adames was, DS deserves all the credit in the world for that one.
  9. Given Aaron's sensibility, I can understand not having the QB draft conversation with him especially if you thought your first 4 or 5 non-QB options would be available. Suddenly you're taking a QB you didn't really think you would, and oops, you never told Aaron. There's a risk in telling someone that sensitive that you might draft a QB, and it's probably not one worth taking if you're pretty sure it won't happen. Then it did. It's like telling your kid he's not getting a shot at the doctor because you're 90% sure he isn't, then you get there and he's overdue for one.
  10. Rodgers was pretty damn near perfect in the Super Bowl and depending on where you look, that defense was #1 or #2 and the Packers were either 1 spot above or below them. He threw some absolute dimes in the Super Bowl, the touchdown to Nelson being one and the 3rd down conversion late in the game to Jennings being another.
  11. Don't know that working on his Ks is realistic. He's always been a K machine. He just used to make it count when he did hit the ball.
  12. My point wasn't really that Rodgers lost playoff games. It was that in spite of these organizational flaws and alleged bad rosters, at the end of the day there have been multiple times where Lord Aaron got the ball in his hands with chances to play the Packers into the Super Bowl. Time and time again, he hasn't been able to do it. Once you are down 4 and have the ball with minutes left, and are the best player in the league, your defense and roster aren't so relevant. Better rosters would have possibly removed the necessity to do that, but Aaron has had his shots and he has come up short. Just last year is a perfect example. Everyone crashed down on Kevin King for a PI that if he doesn't commit, it's not like the Packers automatically win the game. Chances were a lot better if they had done something with those INTs. Yeah, it's harsh criticism when you're in the NFCCG against the best defense in the league, but that's where legendary players have to come through.
  13. Hiura is looking like prime candidate for out of the organization within a year and then regains all-star form with some other team. Meanwhile, Yelich is looking like a far, far worse contract than Braun's.
  14. I didn't include '16 or '19 because I felt the Packers were major underdogs in both, in '16 just playing on fumes, really a 8-8 quality team that Rodgers took there, and '19 just not even close in the matchup.
  15. Their defense could have been better over the years, but all of this is still true: Rodgers won his first NFCCG with a QB rating in the 50s. The following year had 10 points in the 4th quarter as a 15-1 #1 seed at home. He was MVP. In 2014 he threw 2 picks and again, they basically couldn't score, then choked the game away at the end. Last year, he had multiple 4th quarter chances to play his way into the Super Bowl and they lost. There are always multiple ways a team could be better or other things that could have happened to help the Packers win, but at this point it's hard to look past the brutal truth that Rodgers also had chances to win more titles. I think he's had a pretty rough run of poor luck, and the margin between champion and contender is sometimes razor thin, but he has played a role in the shortcoming of the last decade.
  16. I wouldn't trade him, but I don't think his trade value will diminish a whole lot if he sat out a year. He won't, so it's a moot point. But there will be more than a handful of suitors willing to take on 38 y/o Rodgers. Trading him now is sort of like selling Gamestop a few months ago, but you would easily still be able to trade him for nice pieces next year. I think it's a dream though. They're not going to do it.
  17. My opinion of Rodgers is so low at this point that I wonder sometimes if this whole saga is just a way, whether consciously or subconsciously, to blame the organization for his failure to get multiple titles. If he makes this about how they failed him, that becomes a running narrative probably forever. I don't think it holds much merit, save a few seasons where the defense was so bad they weren't real contenders. The harsh reality is that in at least two seasons, his own play could have been the difference in a championship and what we got. And heck, in 2010, he nearly played them out of the Super Bowl against the Bears. Perhaps not a fair take, but one that all great players ultimately face. It comes with the territory. I guess my TLDR is that he knows he is getting old and keeps falling short, it's almost like he's getting out in front of the narrative. And/or he's a very petty guy and is mad about it.
  18. Tale of two seasons. The Bucks sure look more focused at the start of the playoffs this year.
  19. Even if he cools off, they badly needed someone, anyone, to just show up and start hitting the ball.
  20. I don't feel great about the Nets, but if they can get past them I think they'll win the East
  21. I also don't really care about getting a QB in return. If the fans are upset about being knocked out of the playoffs I don't know why Carr and a 1st or 2nd round exit is fruitful. I'd prefer to just let the Phoenix rise from the ashes especially if that means picking higher in the draft a couple years.
  22. My interpretation of the "wrench" was that him winning MVP complicated the Packers "moving on" plan, which was set in motion, at least as Rodgers was concerned, prior to even drafting Love when they appeared (again, from his perspective) to do little to improve a 6-win team. Drafting Love reinforced his feeling that the team moving on was imminent, then he won MVP and they could have their cake and eat it until the last possible second. "He's signed through next year so let's make sure he's MVP again before we decide anything." That's when things boiled over and Rodgers said, no, not so fast.
  23. EXACTLY! Except...no. Its purpose is consumer spending. About half the population seems to think it was intended to feed the hungry or something, when it wasn't. They want people out there buying canoes, baseball cards, and new TVs to keep consumer spending regular and the retail cycle healthy. It was never intended to be a charity. Its purpose is to stimulate spending and temporarily hold up a hobbling economy. There is always a portion of the population using it stay afloat but the reason the income cutoff is fairly high is to distribute money to people not using it for that reason, folks will "blow it" on a splurge purchase they otherwise wouldn't have. If people aren't buying baseball cards, or new clothes, retail spending is down, retailers lay people off. I work for a fortune 500 retailer and I can tell you firsthand that the stimulus payments directly correlated with better sales. There would have been more problems for my company without the stimulus. And we don't sell anything that people truly "need."
  24. MLF said he'd spoken to all of them and that it was different circumstances for each. Hot air possibly, who knows. They probably all hate going to those anyway and going for reps with a guy who won't be throwing them passes this year makes it totally useless in their eyes.
