  1. I don't necessarily think Spectrum will do anything, that app is legitimate and I'd think it's part of the agreement between Bally Sports and Spectrum that their log-ins function for their apps. Where Spectrum can limit freeloaders is in how many simultaneous streams are allowed per account. It's generally a lower number, perhaps 3 or so streams (just throwing that number out there not sure what the actual number might be). That way you can't have your 37 closest friends all watching on your account all at once. Yeah this is likely. It's called Fox Sports Go. It designed for use when not at home. If it's two people sharing it I doubt they do anything. That would require a lot of digging on their end and a pain when they cut off legitimate uses of the app and deal with angry people.
  2. Nobody needs a pass to be mask-free. They are already doing that. The CDC is like a United Nations of viruses. They just say stuff and the only people listening are the ones who don't need to.
  3. The concept of it having the best kids is kind of BS too depending on geography. The cost is an insurmountable barrier of entry to some kids and families. If you're really good, you'll still be really good in high school even if you never played for a club. If you're really, really good, a club will probably find you anyway and take care of the fees.
  4. OK, but so what? The Venn diagram of people vaccinated by, say, June 1, and people who actually wear a mask, is a circle. The rest of the folks are probably staunchly opposed to getting a vaccine and never going to get it, and also already refusing to wear a mask. In my view, the "still distance and wear a mask after you're fully vaccinated" isn't really helping anything. You at least have a chance to persuade people to get the shot if they think it's going to change something. The messaging right now is that it changes very little for you. What kind of incentive is that? Also, you can bet good money that whatever reluctance there is for adults getting vaccinated, multiply that by about 50 for children. With whatever vaccine there is, there will be a ton of kids not getting it. I'm trying to be as kind as possible with this part, but I don't know what anyone thinks we're achieving with masks at this point. Almost any place they are required is incredibly lax with enforcement. I am really, really skeptical that they are doing absolutely anything at this stage of the game.
  5. I'd say the travel teams are getting a bit of a bad rap in this thread. They're not all bad. My advice would be to get to know the program first, prior to getting involved. Talk to parents. Find people who had bad experiences and ask why that happened. If there's lot of in-fighting and parents fighting over titles, or parents petitioning to get coaches removed, run for the hills. But a lot of people have great experiences with travel teams and if your kid is very competitive and doesn't want to be on a team where half the kids are there just to have fun (which is 100% fine), then they may be happier in a travel/select league. Just do your research on what you're getting into and who you're getting involved with.
  6. Right, oops. I've seen them hit something, but never the dude's wiggling bat.
  7. For those of us who cannot watch... please elaborate. On the pitch that really was a strike but was called ball 3, the catcher threw to third and before it went anywhere it bounced off Narvy's bat and rolled around, giving Shaw 2nd.
  8. My Walmart is more like 20% compliance. Masks aren't even enforced at Miller Park. Ushers stand there with a sign that says masks over mouth and nose. Roughly half my section didn't bring it above their neck the entire game and just nursed peanuts or one beer the entire game to get around it.
  9. I feel like "bad body language" always comes up magically when someone isn't playing well and isn't given a second thought when they are playing well. See Rodgers, Aaron.
  10. Hiura is going to dip below .100 if he hasn't already, not sure exactly where he is. There's no way they're rolling with that until the ASG. His age and experience level make it perfectly acceptable to get him a couple weeks in the minors once that's an option. I would hope they are evaluating him on his own merits and not choosing to let him figure it out in the majors just because the team is winning a bit. Plenty of folks won't agree but I don't think that should be a factor in what kind of leash he has.
  11. Is anyone actually saying give up on Hiura? I know I'm not. I am saying that right now, he can't hit MLB pitching, and just trotting him out there to figure it out (I realize the lack of current alternatives) isn't working.
  12. Davies was better but no one's really going to care in the end. He would be what, a 5th starter on the team today, and nobody will bemoan the loss of a 180 lb soft tosser years down the road. It's fair to say Urias/Grisham is what will define it as good or bad.
  13. If you're asking me to start a team from scratch and one of the choices is Urias or Grisham, I'm taking Grisham every time and it's not close. But the Brewers have absolutely nothing going on in the infield, Arcia was not panning out, so taking that chance made more sense for them in that context.
  14. ?? If Urias has a nice career, maybe it's fine. I couldn't care less about the Davies/Lauer swap; I know Davies had his fans here and there's no arguing he was a fairly productive, reliable pitcher, I just wasn't a big fan. Lauer has just been a worse version of Davies. Way worse in terms of productivity in MKE, but both do nothing to excite me. I guess you can say Urias was a risk worth taking with the Arcia experiment failing. But my gut feeling is that 4 years from now this trade looks stupid. It happens.
  15. Next Grisham as in, gets sent off and plays really well some place else. I think it's fair to say now that the Brewers probably didn't value Grisham where they should have. There was a bit of a logjam in the OF but don't you think they'd want that one back? For the record I don't think Taylor is near as good. But they stink right now and he should play.

  17. Non-monetary value is, in the end, monetary value, it just is harder to quantify with dollars. The community foundation is ultimately an arm of the business even if on its own it doesn't generate revenue. Every arm of the club works together to make money. I don't think anyone on this site has the ability to actually know what the Brewers recoup over the life of the contract from the $200m investment. There is just too much information we don't have. You can't take a balance sheet approach to something that has a bunch of intangibles and things that aren't easily quantified with a monetary value (by us anyway). The foundation is a form of branding that makes the Brewers an attractive corporate partnership. Do you want Christian Yelich out in front of that or Gary Sheffield? It's entirely possibly that Attanasio just wanted to do something cool and fell in love with him, but all of these things are factors when you sign a player for a decade.
  18. How do you even know this? Nobody here even knows how to begin quantifying that. The fact is that these teams don't dole out these contracts from the goodness of their heart. There are so many things you'd need to know to quantify this and attendance is just one. There is value he provides in winning/attendance, then there is retail merchandise, there's community outreach in which he's very involved, there's sponsorships, not just his own, but when Associated Bank or Gehl or whoever partners with the Brewers, you can bet that Yelich doing a 30-second read or posing for a poster they can throw in the lobby is the reason why they do it. It's really easy for Brewerfan to dismiss it and say "nobody opens a checking account because of Christian Yelich," but the fact is that these companies are making those deals because they know it's worth it.
  19. Tag was Herculean, throw was quite behind but almost so bad it was good. Not the easiest pitch to throw from though.
  20. I'm not all that concerned about the bullpen. It's rarely good the whole season and rarely the same group of guys by the end of the year. I have more faith in that to sort itself out than I do this offense ever being even just ok.
  21. Watching this team hit in general is pretty brutal. I knew it was going to be a defensive team and I welcomed that change but when you don't have Yelich, Wong, not even a gimpy Cain, and Hiura is useless, the lineup is an absolute joke. I don't know how they're even as competitive as they've been. I was at the game yesterday and just looking up at the board and constantly seeing the lineup's numbers in my face was eye opening. I'm genuinely not trying to crap on them, but most of the lineup, especially now, is abysmal.
