  1. Why? He still led them to a 2-1 record in the regular season and then played well the entire playoffs. I get he wasn't the starter the whole year, but an average QB lead them through the playoffs and I don't see any reason Foles couldn't have gotten them to the playoffs himself over 16 games. Somewhat of an asterisks, but I don't think it can be completely thrown out. I think it's a huge assumption that Foles plays the entire season and gets Philly to 13-3 and a #1 seed especially considering Wentz was an MVP candidate that season. Yes Foles had a nice run at the end, but to pretend like Wentz had little to do with them winning that title is more than a small stretch. He's done nothing in the league outside of that nice month and it's more than fair to question just assuming he'd have done it all season. I didn't completely throw it out either, I said he probably doesn't. If we let average QBs take over 11-2 teams every year, more of them would have rings. I know you didn't say they'd go 13-3 with Foles, but if they don't, the path to the SB is completely different and it changes everything around. We don't know what he would have done, but I think "not win the Super Bowl" is a fairly safe bet.
  2. Foles probably never plays in a Super Bowl without Wentz having a great year, so I don't think he counts. I'm not a fan of Ben, think he's vastly overrated, but I don't think he can be lumped in with the others. Manning is more folklore than substance, but I can't count him with the first group of guys either. We're mixing "average" with "overrated probably not the HOF players they will become." I think a great QB is more of a guarantee of being sustainably competitive than winning a Super Bowl, which is far more luck dependent and random than anyone likes to admit. It gives you more shots though.
  3. My general complaint of the Packers FO is that until recently they seemed overly concerned with building a juggernaut offense and just slapping together a defense with 2-3 good players and 8 scrubs. I never would have signed Cobb for what we did, for example. Not that he was bad, but was that the best use of capital? Couldn't you have been good enough on offense with Jordy Nelson and Doug Baldwin or something? There was a period after the Super Bowl and before Gute where all they seemed to do was extend their own so-so players and do very little to help the defense outside of Julius Peppers.
  4. If we want to talk about disappointments, look at Seattle. From 2012-2015 they are the #1 ranked defense for four seasons. #3 in 2016. One championship. Wilson has somehow come out of that clean and is the victim of poor management.
  5. The Walgreens appts are released in batches so if you log in at one point you may see hundreds and hundreds of slots and if you log in 12 hours later it will be booked solid. New appointments do open up with cancellations so it's sometimes literally one appt that shows up. My advice is to keep the thing open and just refresh periodically, I got an appt for someone doing that.
  6. Do you remember the 14 HOF-caliber seasons he had in New Orleans after that surgery? Do you remember his scouting report? He never had a great arm. And his shoulder was a problem throughout his career so I don't know you went with him. Why do you think I was mentioning the torn labrum before? That's him. There are dozens of QBs that have spinal fusion surgery that retire without it coming back? Or dozens of players that had their careers ruined by broken collarbones? I don't get what the point is. Rodgers has had nothing like the injuries that plagued either Brees or Manning. That's what you objected to and claimed "Manning wasn't Manning until Manning was Manning," which just wasn't true. His back and neck problems were staggering and something people were very aware of.
  7. Do you remember what happened to Drew Brees in San Diego? There are dozens? Would you like to list them? This is such a weird thing to me that you're objecting to. Spinal fusion and broken collarbones and calf scopes aren't in the same strata.
  8. Missed time is totally irrelevant to what we are discussing. You physically can't play QB with a broken collarbone, but it heals and doesn't cause pain 6 years later. Rodgers broke bones in season and missed time. You can play crappy football with nerve damage, can have surgery to ease the pain on a herniated disc, but if you go play football again 6 months later it's going to hurt, it's just a matter of time. There's a huge difference between scopes to clean up things that basically pro athletes have done, and having 5 disc surgeries to ease nerve damage, or surgery to address a nagging torn labrum. Those kinds of injuries will almost always shorten a career or eventually lead to a decline in play, because they always come back. Nobody was surprised by Manning falling apart the way he did. His body was in a far worse condition at 35 after multiple nerve surgeries than Rodgers is in today. All QBs are susceptible to one big injury at all times, but Rodgers has avoided the kinds of serious injuries that would most definitely shorten his career or cause him serious discomfort later in life (by ex-football player standards anyway). Manning's effectiveness after serious injury is just a testament to how good he was and how much the non-physical parts of the game were a part of his repertoire. That allowed to still be good well after his physical tools began to erode.
  9. I don't think it's been the problem at all aside from really 2012-2013, even that is hard to say because not many GMs would change a whole lot from a 15-1 team. The defense from 2011-2013 was pretty bad and they mostly sat on their hands. Capers seemed to have a job way too long. That's probably the single most maddening thing to me. Other than that I just don't see it. They've had a lot of good players. Nobody ever likes to admit this, but just bad luck has played a large role. The losses in 2014 and last year were seasons they easily could have won Super Bowls, were good enough to do so, and this conversation doesn't exist if they do. When you look at it that way it becomes much harder to blame the FO.
  10. Manning wasn't Manning until Manning was Manning. Not true. Peyton Manning had 4 nerve surgeries by 2011. He'd lost feeling in his fingertips before his play started to decline. The stiff that couldn't turn his neck by the end of his career was not a sudden thing. It was a broken body finally catching up to him. That it took that long is a miracle in itself. Rodgers has nothing close to that level of back, neck and surgical problems.
  11. I'm bullish on how long Rodgers can play at a very high level, whether it's here or somewhere else. There has been little, if any, decline in his raw athletic skills. He's had no serious injuries that jeopardize longevity either (broken bones don't do that). He still runs very well. He's strict about diet and keeps in very good shape. I think he's more Brady than Manning or Brees. I think if he wants to, he'll be playing somewhere into his 40s.
  12. I was married in 2014. Even without a pandemic I just cannot imagine navigating that today. The countless apps, the games played on said apps. I have lots of dating friends and the stories and things that are now expected or normal just sound nauseating. I just missed the tinder era by literally a few months. Rejecting people on a 1 second glance at a photo and then texting back and forth before meeting...no thanks. I was reading a thread somewhere where one of the guys insisted and calling rather than texting and the replies acted like this person was mentally ill for not wanting to text.
  13. Well, yeah, but the subscribers are how you get the sponsors. I have a few one-million view videos on YT and have never been approached for a sponsorship. Sponsors want followers, it's a consistent audience. A couple one-off hits in a sea of 5k-view videos doesn't bring in any real money. I know from experience.
  14. A million YouTube subscribers equates to about $60k a year, of course this fluctuates because one giant video can make a lot of money but the $9mm is definitely not from YT. She had a lot of endorsements. If you win a gold with the women's gymnastics team, you're set as long as you don't destroy your image before you cash in.
  15. At Walgreens and just got it. Sitting in the lobby for the post shot waiting period and new shipment came in. Delivery person spoke to pharmacist and said "you got 5 new boxes." Pharmacist laughed and said "we have way more than we are using."
  16. I called Walgreens yesterday and the pharmacist straight up said make up anything on the pre-screen if you see an appointment open. Said there are plenty of doses and even if you just show up they may squeeze you in if they can. The groupings were to prevent running out of supply and it is no longer a concern. This may vary by area.
  17. I don't think the 25% rule will last beyond May 2. This is fading fast and their first home game after that is 8 weeks from today. I bet they have increased capacity for May and this is all over by July.
  18. I asked my rep about a month ago and they will be scarce. "The only dates we have identified are the few Sundays in which we intend on giving out bobbles. Anything else we will probably roll out on a month by month basis. However on the bobbles we will probably have multiple games. For example I know for sure we ordered and received the 30K Henry Aaron bobbles that we were supposed to give out. So if we give them out this April and have a limited crowd of 10-15K then we will have a 2nd date down the road to give out the rest. In that case you’ll have two bites at the apple if that makes sense."
  19. I thought it was nice there were no fees. Nice little surprise.
  20. That explains why I wouldn't know. I just request my games via email and have only participated in the playoff sales.
  21. It's possible that I'm wrong on this...but I don't recall ever being able to pick section number or specific seats? If I email the rep directly, he can usually do that for me, but I don't remember ever doing that on their website.
  22. I'm not sure I understand - I was able to pick from any location I wanted? I only ended up buying for 5/2. I don't know many families of 5 that buy 5 seats to 20 games either. I'm a family of 4 and we have 2 seats, we just mix up who goes. On rare occasions, 1-2 games a year, we just buy 2 seats so everyone can go. I realize this system is not a plausible long-term solution...but I love the flexibility. And it's going to be really nice to go to a Sunday game with my kids at 25% capacity, not constantly bumping into people.
  23. I have to say after looking at this I kind of wish Fan's Choice was always like this. The ability to change quantities per game from a fixed pool of money and mix and match things is hugely preferable to 2 seats to all my games.
  24. Plenty of availability for Opening Day.
  25. There's no point in engaging zero-sum fandom. They'll complain about anything short of a championship and say anything else is pointless. It's a bunch of nonsense (it's an entertainment product after all, and literally nothing changes for you if they win 10 titles or zero), setting oneself up for disappointment, and such people tend to be cantankerous in many aspects of life. Eternal optimists can be as annoying for different reasons, but when people are complaining about a successful org and whining about its latest iteration before it's even on the field, it just gets nauseating to hear, over and over, and over again.
