  1. Second oldest daughter, to correct my earlier post.
  2. Horrific but in the very least he and his daughter were together and comforting each other in the end. Just a terrible story.
  3. ABC pulled the daughters report. But now TMZ reporting one of them was, his oldest.
  4. It doesn't feel real is right. I don't usually feel much attachment to famous deaths but there's no other way to put it.
  5. Unbelievable news that Kobe is one of the five killed in a California helicopter crash. Brother texted me and I happened to flip past the Pro Bowlers announcers breaking it.
  6. That is what happens. "DHGate" doesn't really say much. People regularly review them on Reddit, and some even from the same place, Jay's Jersey house or whatever. One looked great, one looked outrageously bad, the colors weren't even right.
  7. Still could be. There is only one theme night announced. There are likely 3-5 bobbles coming. No superhero, no movie, no coaches with cancer, no heritage nights.
  8. The SSH is Brandon Woodruff.
  9. I don't think it's insignificant that pretty much all of SF's staff has worked with MLF. That's a long time to learn a guy's tendencies.
  10. Really wish they made little kids sizes. I'm on my phone and didn't look extensively didn't see them. Jerseys aren't my thing but I don't really want to pay $90 for a 5t jersey.
  11. It's hard to believe the Bucks are on that list of best starts. I really had given up hope of this team ever doing anything just a few years ago. I used to always say in conversation they had to win the lottery. And when they did, they got Bogut. I just never envisioned them being truly relevant, at least not for 20-30 years.
  12. I didn't actually look anyone up. I just tossed Namath and Blanda out there. Lynn Swann is another great example. There are others. I thought Lynch was in, but must be remembering him getting further in the process than Butler a prior year, which is stupid because numbers wise he's not there. I believe at the time of retirement, Butler was the only 40/20 player in NFL history. Or awfully close, he might have been a 1 or 2 short, but for some reason I remember the stat. He's been hurt by sharing a uniform with Favre and White, whereas Lynch was a star on a team known for defense. This was recently a topic on Drew Olson's show, or whoever's show he's on, that the NFL Hall of Fame is kind of lame and doesn't carry the same prestige as baseball's. Baseball rejects a lot of really good players, for a long time without 3000 or 500 or Ozzie skills you had a hard time getting in.
  13. Kind of sad that Sheets is the best they can do for the 2000s. Can't say there's really anybody else. I guess Prince Fielder but they randomly just did him for some odd reason. Wish they had done Cirillo for the 90s to get a Motre Dame. If he were still on TV they probably could have done it.
  14. It's not so much laziness as it is selling tickets. Juan Nieves isn't selling tickets, nobody's 10 year old begs to go to a game to get Juan Nieves. I'm right there with you but the promo department's game is selling tickets. They don't get rewarded for creativity. If they do Juan Nieves and have 15k left in storage, they have a problem. There's a cost to making these, so they need to pick ones with mass appeal. They all make sense on that front, except Sheets, who I think will probably be the least popular.
  15. I've never liked Dean Lowry, but he was 24 and had gotten better each year in the league. It wasn't crazy money by NFL standards for an ascending DL. It seemed like a Ted Thompson move where you retain your own guy just for the sake doing it. I can see why he did it though, if he continued developing at the pace he was, those were bargain years.
  16. Thought this was going to be about him signing an extension.
  17. He's another great one. Titles and having a famous play.
  18. Right, it's an opinion, but the use of 'shoving down throats' implies that people don't actually like her as the character. Most people did like it and do like her, and that's why they retained her character in spite of that dumpster fire of a movie. It's an absolutely terrible movie. It might be the worst of the entire comic genre. She's a good actress though not just eye candy. She was great in Wolf of Wall Street and doesn't have many lines in Once Upon a Time but played a big role in what I thought was a great movie.
  19. I think it's just you. I don't devour them like I know some people do and they probably are more popular with commuters like you said. But a lot of people just listen to them at work; my wife listens to them at home all the time. Serial and the like are enormously popular. I listened to Bill Burr's for a long time but haven't in some time.
  20. Yeah it's kind of an odd take. They basically gave her a solo film because she was so well received. The rest of that film is rightfully being scrubbed. If most people are asked about the highlights she's at the top of the list. Atrocious writing, some bad acting and Jared Leto was cringey. I won't debate the Pressly v Robbie hotness topic but there is a reason one is an A-lister getting major film roles and one was doing films with Jerry Springer.
  21. Namath is pretty terrible compared with players from any era. He and George Blanda threw 40-50 more INTs than TDs. Namath in particular completed half his passes. He was just not very good, and benefited from New York, and really from one galvanizing moment for the league. The NFL lets guys in for one big thing like that, baseball really doesn't. The NFL also rewards being "pretty good" for a long period of time but there are a lot of guys in the hall that don't really embody greatness. If you want to be shocked look up Troy Aikman. I couldn't believe how mediocre he was the first time I did, even with his peers. They were the offensive line and Emmitt Smith's team, and you can make an argument he was a big-game QB. The titles speak volumes for getting into Canton. These kinds of guys make Eli's case though. I've just always thought it was very different from Cooperstown, where you can go pages and pages of debate about borderline guys. The NFL has few players like that, and almost all of the fringe guys do get in. Butler is almost definitely going to get in eventually. Players like Scott Rolen and Cecil Cooper wouldn't have any trouble getting into the HOF with football's standards.
  22. They got me on them long ago. They do way too many of them. I miss the old days of 3 per year. It was fine. But they work, and they're here to stay.
  23. I like them both. The NBA blows it away in terms of athleticism, but you do feel that each game is a lot more important than in the NBA. If you beat a good team in your 15th game it actually holds some value to your berth later on. Everyone loves the tournament too, vs. the NBA where nobody is really paying close attention until the conference finals. One clunker and a top team can be done. In the NCAA the strategy feels more compelling at times. UNLV can put together a game plan and stop a top team with a little bit of luck; in the NBA you feel like the team with the star is always going to pull it out. That you don't have to beat a superior team 4/7 makes it much more suspenseful.
  24. It's not so much bandwagoning as it is time. I watched the Bucks more when they sucked because that's where I was in life. When I lived on Farwell and not an hour from the arena, I could sit 3 rows back for $11 and go to 10 games a year. I'd watch their 42-40 teams every night because I had the time do it and frankly had not much else to do. Now if the Bucks were terrible today, you're right, I wouldn't pay a lick of attention to them. But I don't know a lot of people with young kids that sit down and watch Bucks/Brewers every night from start to finish.
  25. Eh, it's not that simple. I'm a Bucks fan. Going to next Friday's game. But if I haven't planned on going to the arena, I typically don't watch. Don't have cable, don't have any live sports streams, and 5-10pm are the busiest hours of my day. Rarely sit down to watch the Brewers on TV either. The regular season in the NBA does feel largely pointless. You pretty much know the Bucks are a #1 seed and there are months to just sit and wait. I think the MLB's million games just more palatable because baseball is synonymous with summer and it's much more of a "drop in" sport. You can catch innings 2 and 3, go do something, and come back for 8 and 9.
