It's down to one thing, really. Our pitching held up for the most part to keep us in these games. But our moneyball offense never had a chance because the Dodgers SP just had too good of command. There was no opportunity to be patient because they simply never stopped throwing strikes. They turned us into a hack-a-thon which wasn't going to end well for us. And that is the difference when $800 million can buy you a handful of guys who simply don't miss. The fringe arms never had to step on the field in a playoff series. That's who loses most of their games. We basically need someone really good to have a bad day. -
The whole narrative can shift if we can just squeak one out tomorrow.

Completely unscientific, but if you asked me who I want at the plate with 2 outs, bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th in October, it's Braun and I don't need 2 seconds to think.

The Brewers approach at the plate wouldn't have made a lick of difference against Snell. He wasn't throwing any balls. Their patience would have resulted in looking Ks. I would argue that trying to hit the ball early in the count was the right move, they just couldn't do it.

Ok? Point is they've been the "best team" a lot and have not much to show for it relatively speaking. They have been ousted quite often by teams they were supposed to beat.

A more realistic path is the Brewers have a year like this and the Dodgers just have 2 bad days in the Wild Card and lose to someone like Cincinnati. Then getting dumped in a short series is fairly plausible.

Their 9 hitter would be like our team leader in home runs. One free agent bat that will look like Yelich in 3 years is not the answer to our problems. We would need like 6 of them.

I'm just not sure you can AnnoyingBall your way to a championship when winning random games against Cincinnati's 3rd starter by stealing bases doesn't matter anymore. And that is absolutely not a criticism of the Brewers. They are incredible at what they do. But I think they have basically maxed out what they'll be able to do in this league.

They've been that kind of team nearly every year and their current regime has won exactly one championship out of it. Last year. That COVID clown show doesn't count.

Not sure the Packers are good enough to break hearts. For better or worse.

Well, that's the thing. If you do that against the Cubs the spade is called a spade, but you do it against the Dodgers and it's obviously because they have so much money. I'm not saying that's wrong, but it's not hard to look at the Dodgers last 15 years and see a looooot of October losing to supposedly inferior teams. Really, the Dodgers should have a lot more wins there than they do. I think we're probably letting the Brewers off the hook a bit. We are absolutely less talented, but this offense didn't help itself at all either night.

I still have optimism against my better judgement that the travel day is good for us and we show up in LA with a little energy. Maybe get 2/3 and get it back home. Idk. Not expecting it but this team has fought all year.

It was until the bottom of the 9th, which is understandable when you don't hit the ball out of infield. But you are taking the concept of the Brewers poor play influencing the fans' energy very personally for some incredibly bizarre reason.

You must not be sitting behind the plate, because they've been on their ass 98% of both nights, justifiably.

I have been to about a dozen playoff games. None this year. And I don't need to go to them to tell you that the environment at Wrigley was superior to these, even if that hurts your little feelings for some reason. The events transpiring on the field tend to have a large effect on the environment. This is shocking to you for some reason and very hurtful. I'm sorry.

I do have a basis for making that statement. The basis is that they have barely gotten out of their seats, whereas they almost never sat down at Wrigley. It was an entire 2 innings before anyone at Wrigley sat down in Game 3. I really don't need to be there to see that. It's not a personal insult, relax. The games have sucked. They're getting their ass kicked, which tends to suck the air out of stadium. It's not that deep.

I agree that this is a great season regardless of this series. However I'm totally at peace with a sweep. Kinda prefer that slow and less painful death than another game 7 gut punch I have to replay for 6 months.

I am serious. They've barely gotten out of their seats. I hate to admit this, but the crowds at Wrigley have a lot more consistent energy than ours. Again, this is not a criticism of our fans. We have done almost nothing in this series to excite anyone outside of the 9th inning last night and the leadoff batter tonight. These have been brutally unentertaining games.
