It's January 31, 2027. Micah Parsons has been out for a month with a sore hamstring and Kaleb Johnson has 6 carries for 2 yards. But fear not. J. Michael Sturdivant just hauled in a 28-yard touchdown pass with :37 left in the 4th quarter of the NFC Championship. Los Angeles 38, Green Bay 9.

They will have key guys get hurt again. It happens every year. Kraft was probably the one they felt the least, they were able to move forward productively at least. I don't mean to diminish any of those names, because they all, at worst, in the top 10 Packers...but when you pay an elite player like Parsons, you're in a lot of trouble when he gets hurt.

Right but that isn't the narrative right now. The narrative is that they'll be amazing after Thanksgiving because they'll be a winning team and THEN get Micah Parsons! I am not convinced this is a .500 team without Micah Parsons. Whatever they did 2 years ago with the same cast means very little in the NFL. Let's remind everyone they have yet to win a game without Micah Parsons. Shouldn't be that bad, agreed, but my point is what I said: it's like the time without him has led people to adjust and sort of bizarrely gloss over the fact that our cornerstone defensive player isn't playing.

I am not buying the defense for a second but it's not based on anything preseason. They were just bad, really bad, once Micah went down. He's not playing for months. They are not going to be good. It's like a weird phenomenon where people have had time to adjust to him being out and convinced themselves it isn't a big deal. It's an absolutely huge deal.

Sort of how I've felt about the whole thing. I have my own pure speculation as to what I think the situation resembled. I think the other party was likely far more aggressive than has been let on, likely invaded his space, and he overreacted and is obviously much bigger and stronger and can't do that. I don't know how he gets misdemeanors if he wasn't reacting to something, but we might all know the facts eventually.

I guess I don't see why something they did criminally should mean they get cut. That's what prison is for, and if they go, then sure, yeah they get cut. I completely understand anyone preferring he get cut, I just don't have a line there, I guess. I wouldn't be sympathetic if the Packers decided that's their personal line, but it's not my company so I couldn't really care less.

I guess I'm indifferent. Not having a real idea as to what actually transpired in his house plays a role in that, but I guess I stopped caring about "character guys" a really long time ago and just assumed there are dirtbags on every team I root for. My only real interest is in winning the championship and I don't see that happening without what Jacobs brings to the table. No-names emerge every day and play major roles on winning teams. Just seems that when he's going, they are a completely different offense. Always knew "Packer People" was a bunch of nonsense, so I couldn't care less about any of that.

They would have to play well enough in every playoff game to the point his decision making is a nonfactor. That rarely happens in the modern NFL. If they lose a lead in the 4th, he has to make a decision on 4th and short, etc., he's toast. Any kind of adversity, forget about it.

Deja vu all over again. Brewers kind of stagnating with a handful game lead late in the season, certain posters obsessing over the Cubs for some reason, Cubs not really showing any sign of being able to make up those 5 games. Sure it could happen, but I don't see it. Remaining schedule being used as some kind of indication that the Cubs can't possibly lose to a bad team, despite doing it 45 times. If the Brewers do cough that up, it typically means they are faceplanting anyway and who cares about the Cubs, or the Cubs are some kind of 2018 Brewers stretch. I really don't understand the handwringing over the Cubs. They'll finish where they finish and have to win playoff games regardless.

Until it doesn't happen and then the narrative is that whatever team can't manufacture runs and is too reliant on "selfish swinging." I think so much more of postseason success is just being hot in a short series than anyone wants to admit, because you can't "analytic" that. -

Yeah this just isn't very comforting to me. You could say the Packers should have won the playoff game they lost like 10 times in the last 20 years. Even with Kraft out, before Wyatt and Parsons and Tom and Watson, you can rationally say they were pushing to be the favorite in the NFC. The Denver game was the cliff drop moment of the season. They went from firmly in control, up 11 with possession in the 2nd half, to spiraling the moment Watson left the game and never recovered. But that happens to somebody every year.

The Rams are very clearly the paper favorite. It's par for the course for the big favorite to have a mediocre season, but I'd say they are the most favored team the NFC has seen in a while. Part of the reason last year's injuries sucked so much was exactly that. There was no runaway team, it was Seattle, and Sam Darnold having his moment are odds I want every year.

Kinda the same I've felt the last two seasons. Provided no major injury to Love, a floor of 8 wins and a ceiling of 13 and being on either end just wouldn't be a big surprise to me. There's enough talent to believe they can be in the Super Bowl, but enough questions about depth and health to think they're just outside of the playoffs looking in. If you said I had to give a figure, 11-6. And truthfully, I don't think they're a team that can muscle their way to a title from the Wild Card simply because MLF is an extremely bad game manager. I think they'd have to establish themselves as a front runner.

The Brewers have been highly successful and in the last decade are one of the best-run franchises in all of sports. It's also completely natural for the fan base to have a skepticism at this point and demand a championship, and not care all that much about having the best record in August. Totally natural progression that comes with long-term success in the regular season. I don't begrudge anyone for being "spoiled" at this point, because quite honestly with 0 titles nobody has been spoiled. Both things can be true.
