    They're in a pretty comparable spot to 2005, when Thompson got there and had to immediately start cutting costs. Led to not extending several OL, Wahle, Rivera, they were very bad that season, but quickly got things going again a couple years later. I don't see any of that happening without a new HC, the same thing they did back then.

    Most likely correct. LaFleur is the only one with any remote chance of being canned. I think even he has 2 seasons though.

    None of what he's done in his career changes the fact he's been awful in Milwaukee. At time of trade it was defensible. But he's a terrible Brewer.

    I'm not even criticizing the move. It's a wonderful organization. But they can do something bad and they did. The guy sucks. I don't know why we have to pretend there's grey area. He's bad.

    Brother you must be doing an hour of yoga before logging on to make a reach like this. May has a 5 and a half run ERA in Milwaukee and is below replacement level WAR. That they leave him in long enough to eat innings doesn't make the trade good. They could have gotten better results with a AAA carousel. I don't actually believe you believe the things you're saying on this.

    Brewers are probably gravy with a .500 finish and 3-5 would probably do it too, as far as the 1 seed goes.

    Lol, I mentioned Drohan as the guy to go in the event Woody could pitch again, assuming Harrison was already off and we were going 12 pitchers. I'm gonna switch and say May, who just hasn't looked good really at all, even though we 1000% won the trade because he gave us innings. I could also give us innings. They'd be the longest innings ever recorded but I could give them.

    They're damn near the statistical definition of average. This is a good reminder the team with the best record in baseball will lose 38% of their games this year. 62%, a solid F.

    Wouldn't have been impossible if Arizona had a better last week and a half. All I'm really invested in for the regular season now is seeing the AL West winner finish below .500. It's never happened.

    Not me. It's something I want to follow all summer and into fall. 10 years of 100 losses is a huge chunk of my life to exchange for one championship, which let's be honest, everyone forgets about pretty soon. Look at the Bucks.

    I wouldn't touch this game as a gambler. Way too much up in the air, mostly how good actually are the Jets (I don't think very good) and how bad are the Packers (worse than you may think).

    The attendance isn't in question, the secondary market is. It's not anywhere near what it used to be. The World Series will get there, and probably an LCS Game 7. The secondary market relies on the 'fad' crowd and those who wouldn't normally consider attending. I don't have any doubt they will fill the stadium for every home game. But the casuals aren't going to have their interest piqued until something new is on the line. They have sort of stagnated around 2.5 million since Covid. They've seen a little spike the last year or so. You can almost draw a straight line to Miz, whose home starts are a dramatic attendance surge. After his first start in front of 27k, the next two were 40k+. But it wouldn't really shock me if you were able to find NLDS tickets under face value in certain sections, if they aren't playing the Cubs.

    Even those have fallen off a cliff from where they would've been years ago. Last year Game 5 settled around $200 get-in-the-door. When I sold my extras in 2018 for the DS series that looked likely to be Cubs at that point, but ended up being the Rockies, I got much, much more than that for a non-elimination game. There is still demand, yeah. Any of the playoff games are sell outs or close to it. But they have things working against them. The times are never very good, for one, and the demand just isn't what it used to be. There's a large contingent of people who just aren't in the market until it's a clinch game for the pennant or the World Series that everyone is starving for. The DS just doesn't excite people on the fringes anymore. 20 years ago it was a hot ticket, even 10. But do this every year and it's not that exciting anymore.

    Because they are holding inventory. They always do this and don't release the whole stadium. They need to leave tickets for the general public sales, they don't want them all purchased and resold. I can pretty much promise that the local demand for the NLDS will be lower than ever. It's continuously dipped since 2018. There's a major fatigue. The games will obviously be well-attended, but the NLDS just doesn't get people going anymore. With the big markets in the playoffs too, there will be a good number of opposing fans most likely. I've been to games on weekends this season with 35k fans. That was unheard of in a season like this 10 years ago. Even I don't really have an interest in attending until there's an LCS clinch opportunity. When you're there every year it's just not a hot ticket.

    I think everyone knew he was cooked. With the bye not really in play, it was worth throwing this start at the wall and hoping it stuck. They wouldn't be where they are without him, but he is clearly done. No way he's on the postseason roster. I don't think it's an issue 3 weeks off would help with. Honestly consider ourselves lucky it was very obvious before the playoffs started.
