  1. I don't think you can get more than 3. The problem with that is that you can find something wrong on most plays if you look hard enough. So I lose my complete pass challenge, but hang on, on the other side of the field, there was DPI! I don't like the slope you start sliding down if I'm allowed to point out 4 problems on a challenge. Really though, if we're going to stick with replay, there's no reason rule anyone down on potential fumbles, ever. Make a judgement call on the fumble first, because ruling down by contact if it's NOT a fumble is a lot easier to get right upon review, than deciding who would have picked it up in an alternate reality.
  2. The run game wasn't great yesterday, but it seemed fairly effective. They had a few runs that really got blown up and it dragged the average down, but it did seem like they were able to get those 4-5 yards plays to mix things up.
  3. It's pretty idealistic to think a player under contract would whistleblow in pro sports. I don't have an issue there. Hinch is a real tool. There's a quote out there somewhere of him being accused of this before it came to light and he gaslights the whole thing like it's insane. Except he knew exactly what was going on and went full-blown actor. He can go for life as far as I'm concerned.
  4. It really shouldn't be changed. The coaches should have some reluctance to challenge spots or they'll be doing it all the time. You could technically move the ball an inch on every play if you really wanted to. I mean there's no way the ref is getting it that accurate just on the eye test.
  5. He's saving Lazard's 200-yard game for next week. Didn't want to tip the Niners off.
  6. It's the same for spot challenges. If they move the spot and the result of the play doesn't change you still lose the timeout.
  7. That Packers offense was so much better than this one that it makes it hard to see that happening. Granted their offense still really didn't do that much in that '14 game, but it was just leaps and bounds better than this one. You could argue the Seattle offense they shut down most of that game was better than SF's though. I wouldn't count on five forced turnovers. I feel somewhere between their last two conference championships as far as odds. I thought they had absolutely no chance of beating Atlanta in '16 with that skeleton crew defense. I thought they had a shot in Seattle but not a good one.
  8. They need something to go wrong for SF to win. Jimmy has to send one the other way or something. They're just not going to be able to line up and beat them at smash mouth football. They just don't have the personnel. I'm gonna spend all week talking myself into us winning, but it's really hard to see it happening on paper.
  9. Not only was the yellow TV line off, the "O Guy," the guy on the opposite side of the field from the chain gang, that makes it look like a closer call, was ALSO off where the first down should have been. I've watched that play 20 times now and the controversy over it seems extremely forced. It was just not that bad of a call, and I'm not remotely convinced he didn't get the first down. Graham falls on top of the defender's leg as well, he's not immediately down. The idea that a spot that leads to 4th and an inch was more impactful than a blown fumble is ridiculous.
  10. I don't think Adams is doing much of anything next week. That's all they need to stop. Somebody has to step up. Maybe they get Jones involved more, maybe Jimmy Graham has some geezer magic, maybe Allen Lazard steps up, but I feel pretty certain they will take Adams out of the game.
  11. He drew up a nice blitz on the 2-pt that was really a critical stop. It was frustrating though because they should have been doing that more in the 2nd half. He runs around like crazy so you send a corner at him that he can't outrun. Russ didn't even see him though, probably due to the fact he'd spent a half without any look like that. It would have been a great call 5 plays earlier to jar the ball loose. After the fact we can say it didn't matter but the offense goes at the last drive completely differently if they only need 3. And they did get a stop at the end. Best part of that game though was something that Packers haven't done all year, convert 3rd downs. Jones didn't have a great game getting just 3 YPC. They were 9-14 and felt like Rodgers made a lot happen.
  12. What's been lost in that box score is that the Packers defense really didn't play poorly in the first game. They were buried in a hole really early and it was at least a game for a half. It was only after they spend 80% of the game on the field that they really fell apart. They can't cough up the ball at the 5 on the opening drive. Idk, it's fun to talk yourself into thinking they can win, but there something about Rodgers yesterday that makes you think there might be some magic going here. The receivers are just a massive problem though. They're going to take Adams out of the game and there is just nobody else there. I'm hoping they get Jones into the passing game a lot.
  13. I think the strategy was, they had a big lead, so play the coverages and maybe increase the odds you catch an errant ball. If you blitz, you're kind of helping Wilson play catch-up quickly. I'd really prefer being more aggressive, but...in the end, the defense had to get a stop to preserve a win. They've done that literally every time they were asked to do so this season at the end of a game like that.
  14. And I think they were only favored once.
  15. If we hit 20, things probably went well.
  16. I'm all about that underdog action. If it goes south early on I won't be shocked and I can be pleasantly surprised by a good game. I feel like they're better, and have a better shot, than they did in '16 going in Atlanta. Edge rushers and Aaron Rodgers, we have a chance. I'd give us about a 25% shot.
  17. I don't anticipate win either, but we do have Rodgers going for us. Dude made some incredible throws. And you never know what a game like the NFCCG can do to a guy not used to playing in that atmosphere. Garoppolo will throw you the ball, too. We have to catch it.
  18. I do feel like that game is going to be a lot closer than 95% of the country seems to think.
  19. Going one and done would have sucked. Whatever is fine now.
  20. It made them use 2 TOs before they got the ball. Nothing is a stretch.
  21. I feel like McCarthy would have made them burn the TO.
  22. Just the one first down I'd say is a major help to burn the TOs. This is a tough call now though. Do you make them burn the last one or throw it. I'm inclined to throw.
  23. They need to throw the ball. It's Aaron Rodgers and we cannot put Wilson back on the field.
